  1. +1 @ReneeFLL said everything I was thinking but was afraid to write. LOL. And you were right, a general, helpful tips/tricks/hacks thread should be just that, people sharing what works for them. There is no right or wrong. Why that certain person felt the need to turn it into a competitive sport is beyond me but I've seen them do it on other threads as well. Always right & needing to get the last word in. *sigh*, I guess not everyone can be as wonderful as us. 😀😉😇 . And kudo's to you for sticking to your guns in a very diplomatic way.
  2. Reading the various posts about different cable companies dropping major networks has pushed me even closer to cutting the cord. I've been think about it for a year now, maybe even longer And as much as I wanted to get away from Verizon Wireless service, they actually have some good deals where you can get discounts on Verizon Internet service & also bundle streaming services together for even bigger savings, such as Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ or MAX/Netflix. Granted, they are the basic service with commercials but still can add up to significant monthly savings. And just got a email from Amazon that starting end of Jan, they will be adding commercials to Prime service. Unless I want to upgrade for $2.99 a month. 😡
  3. Maybe we should get a little group wager going. What will there be more of after 274 days? New babies born or divorces? 😄 Or make it a Super Bowl like pool and pick a number of each!
  4. While Christmas Day has passed, it's still the Christmas Season so watching Christmas movies is still okay. Just watched "The Main Who Invented Christmas" on Prime & found it not only enjoyable but also very interesting. It's the a semi-true, semi-fantasy story of how Charles Dickens wrote " A Christmas Carol". The fantasy part refers what went thru Dickens mind as he was struggling to write the book in record time but many of the facts in the movie are true, at least according to the rabbit hole of websites I fell into last night looking up all the details of his life. 😛
  5. Thanks. How do you like the area? I did a post-cruise stay in Pompano Beach a few years ago. Stayed at a beachfront hotel aptly named The Beachcomber. I remember liking the area, quiet enough to relax but the "action" was just a short drive away. On my list of possible retirement areas.
  6. Thanks! Which reminds me to check in on the World Cruise thread. I stopped following it after a few days as it seemed like a "regular" Caribbean cruise. I figured I check back in once they start reaching some of the more exotic, unique destinations.
  7. You probably mentioned it several times but where are you staying? Rental home, right? As much as I love cruising, camping, glizty casino hotels, this seems like perfection to me. Can you adopt me?
  8. Well, it was pretty heavy on the Kraken and light on the Ginger Ale which didn't stop me from having multiple drinks. Definitely less ginger tasting than a Moscow mule but you could still taste it, however faintly. Once the Ginger Ale ran out, we switched to Kraken & Root Beer. Lots of competing flavor in that mixture and my stomach did grumble later that night.
  9. Christmas wrapping with cats = Not a good idea. Lenoard claimed this as his own. It's the 5th gift he has claimed as his own.
  10. She seems like some of my old school NY Ranger fan buddies. They expect the team to go undefeated the whole season & as soon as they lose a game, they act like the season is over & the team should be traded away. Or any come from behind victory is because they got lucky but the season is over. You get the idea. Not only is the glass empty but the bottom is cracked so it'll never ever get to half full.
  11. Tis is true. I was there about week ago to take in a Ranger game with my step daughter. We had time to kill so we visited Bryant Park which is literally on the walk from Grand Central Station to Madison Square Garden. Hung out for a bit at one of the temporary "pop-up" bars beside the ice rink where they serve festive cocktails with fun names like "Twisted Elf" or "Drunken Reindeer" or "Santa's Balls", etc. Maybe those weren't the exact names but you get the idea. We met a lovely young couple from Ohio who were visiting the city for the week, first time. Had great conversation, gave them some tips & they insisted on buying us a round of drinks, which at $18-$20 per drink is no small gesture. I tried to decline but they insisted. Part of the city holiday magic, I guess. The Ice Rink The Tree. You can walk right up to it. And get your picture taken very close to the tree. Can't do that at Rockefeller. Just sayin 😉 Macy's. Where Santa lives. Taken from 34st. Where the Miracle happened. Always liked this view when walking back to Grand Central Station. Oh, and the Rangers had won that game vs Anaheim Ducks as well. 5-1.
  12. I liked it! I really liked it. Very different but well done. Original, simple and refreshing story, breathtaking scenery without the extra typical Hollywood "bloat / glitter / things" (I can't think of the right word). The voice dubbing was a bit off-putting for the first few minutes but I quickly got used to it. I do have an issue with how it ended but I don't want to ruin it for anyone that may want watch it but there was a certain leap forward that isn't well explained. But really just a minor quibble that does not distract from the overall goodness of the movie.
  13. I've already watched it twice this year. As well as "Holiday Inn" which was made 12 years earlier & was the first time the song White Christmas was sung. As a duet by Bing & some lady whose name I'm too lazy to look up. lol. Also, I was told I have to watch "A Christmas Carol" (1951) with Alistar Sim as he's the best Scrooge ever. So I went to look for it and do you know how many versions of A Christmas Carol there are? At least as many as Hallmark Channel has Christmas movies! I'm partial to Mr. Magoo as Scrooge. 😉 And George C. Scott. What better Scrooge than General Patton! 😀
  14. While not a Hallmark Christmas movie, I recently watched "Last Christmas" on Amazon Prime and found it pleasantly enjoyable. It does start off as a typical rom-com but there is some Christmas magic towards the end that elevates it into Christmas movie status. Plus, I really like Emilia Clarke - aka Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones - so it was interesting to see her in this role. Also, lots of George Micheal & Wham songs in the movie since it's supposedly based on the song "Last Christmas"
  15. That's my method. And I do it so few times, its really the only method I know. But it works for me! 🙂
