  1. Interestingly, Royal's UWC didn't make the list so not sure how inclusive this list is. But there are options out there. https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles/best-world-cruises-of-2023-2024-and-2025 Most seem significantly shorter than Royals UWC but maybe that's the key to selling out? Just a thought, not a judgement 🙂
  2. Since neither of us know anyone personally who sold all their belonging to go in a cruse, it's all a hypothetical discussion. Unless someone who is actually doing that joins in the conversation. So, hypothetical speaking, I sell my mortgage free house for $550,000 here in NY - which is a very current, realistic price & spend $200,000 (fair price?) on the UWC that leave me with $350,000 for my return. Hopefully a trusted financial planner can grow that an extra 10% or so. Absolutely I'll need to downsize and/or relocate somewhere cheaper like FL or SC or TN. The usual suspects. But it's doable & maybe part of the master plan. I don't think I could do it. I'm more along the lines of @Ocean Boy or @Jimbo and even you. I'd need a concrete roadmap for my return. But some people are better flying by the seat of their pants than I. More power to them.
  3. My family would gladly take me in, wouldn't even have to ask. Well, except for maybe one sister...but more importantly, you've mistakenly assumed they spent ALL their money on the cruise.
  4. My guess is they would buy another house/condo/houseboat/RV....Or rent...or move in with family...or keep on booking cruises ala Super Mario.
  5. Also, I've only briefly glanced at some of the WC threads so if there is drama happening over there, I'm missing it. *** heading over to them now *** FOMO! 😄
  6. Ah, gotcha. And it depends. For some people, 274 days might not be enough if they don't like their family & pets. 🤣🤣 I kid. The idea of sailing around the world is pretty cool, not to mention the one time opportunity to visit many unique ports that Royal normally doesn't call on. Personally, I don't know if I could do it. In addition to missing friends, family & pets, I'd be missing my peanut butter & Jelly sandwiches on toasted white bread & can of Campbell's Chunky Soup by the 3rd week. Plus, 9 months of whatever Sorrento-like pizza is on Serenade? The horror! 😱😉😇 But then again, the opportunity to feel like what it's like to be Super Mario, if only for a short time is appealing too
  7. I wondered 😍 Being the nosy gossip that I am, of course I'm interested in what/who you guys were debating Was it on the short-lived thread created by the pretend Pinnacle dude that was sharing WC info that he, uh, "re-purposed" from somewhere & someone else?
  8. The first one seems like a fantastic deal. $182,000 marked down from $189,000. Plus saving on not buying a new battery. Not sure how you can pass up on the deal! 😅
  9. Sounds like you got quite the trip planned with a little bit of everything sprinkled in. Enjoy! Don't forget to post pics. I stayed in Pompano Beach post-cruise as few times. Nice little town.
  10. Maybe the weather app got our locations mixed up. It had been calling for monsoon-like weather all day with damaging winds, power outages, flooding & possible road closures. A couple of towns near me were handing out sandbags to residents. So far, just light on and off drizzle.
  11. And I made several visits yesterday.😉 Does Sak's still have their light show projected onto the building? For me, that's worth visiting Rockefeller Center. EDIT: Answered my own question. https://discovernyc.tours/saks-light-show-2023-fifth-avenue-a-must-see-nyc-attraction/
  12. I liked it, the finale. I'm not sure how it could have ended any other way. Seinfeld is one of my all time favorite comedy shows that have stood the test of time although I could never be friends with any of the characters. I just started watching Comedian in Cars getting Coffee on Netflix. It's enjoyable & I like seeing the different vintage cars.
  13. Me too. I was underwhelmed, it seemed more impressive on TV. It was a spur of the moment decision so maybe I was in the best viewing location but judging from the 17.2 trillion people standing next to me on the FDR Drive, it was a popular viewing location.
  14. I feel the same way. NYC is a nice place to visit but I could never live there. I always enjoy visiting but I also always enjoy going back home. I'm just not a crowds or noise person. Some people get their energy from that, I just get a headache. Next Saturday, friends of mine want me to go visit the Rockefeller tree with them. I'm going to try to convince them that we should go to Bryant Park instead. It's a short walk from Grand Central, the tree much more approachable as is the free ice skating rink & plenty of pop-up places to grab a drink or a bite to eat. It is crowded but people seem more civilized. Rockefeller tree is over rated in my opinion.
  15. I wasn't around in 1962 but I'm wondering if the Guy Lombardo & Dick Clark TV specials encouraged people to go & therefor made it a far more overcrowded & hectic experience today than it was back in 1962. Just my humble guess. And add me to the list of people who have no desire to be in NYC on NYE. Growing up, watching those 2 TV specials from home or a friends house was how I spent my NYE until I was old enough to go out on my own.
  16. Twice in years past I've unintentionally got caught up in SantaCon craziness. Both times I wished I was younger and at the same time, glad I wasn't younger. LOL. Fortunately , there are enough places that don't allow SantaCon shenanigans. From what I understand, it has been toned down in recent years. Fun Fact: There are only 2 days a year where alcohol is banned from Metro-North trains. New Years Eve & SantaCon.
  17. Master of my domain! 😇 I'll add the Second Spitter (aka The Magic Loogie with Keith Hernandez) and since it's the season: The Festivus -the holiday for the rest of us. But far too many to list.
  18. Going back to the shingles conversation, is it possible to have a mild case of shingles? About 7 or 8 years ago, I had a weird looking rash on my right side rib cage, a long ugly looking strip. Didn't itch or hurt but after some prodding from family, I went to my doctor & as soon as he looked at it said "Yep, you have Shingles". Gave a prescription and within a week or two, it was gone. Never even got the pain medicine prescription filled as it there was no pain or itchiness. I also don't remember having chicken pox as a child but apparently I must've.
  19. No, I don't remember him which is odd because I used to watch a lot of Yankee games on TV back then. It was during their "dynasty" years. I had to look him up. Seems like he only pitched as a reliever sporadically in a few games over a period of couple of months, got injured and was never able to come back. Certainly not enough to leave an impression.
  20. I can't wait to see his reaction when there is snow on the ground. I had him last winter as well but we only had 1 or 2 snowy days of significance & we didn't let him outside. Before that, the first 3 or 4 years he was a Texan when my step daughter still lived in Houston (it's actually her cat.......for now 🙂😉😇)
  21. I'm less than thrilled with this trade but I understand why they did it.. The Yankees were ranked 25 out of 30 teams offensively. That's pretty bad for a team built to hit home runs & whose nickname is The Bronx Bombers. Mostly a result of injuries to key players such as Judge who missed a 1/3rd of the season as well as some other players that were just having bad years. I feel they could have bounced back offensively next year without the trade by just staying healthy. But I guess the idea is to spread out the offense and take some of the pressure off Judge. Speaking of which, since Soto is not a great outfielder, he'll probably take Judges spot in right field with Judge taking over center field. That's a lot of ground to cover for an injury-prone player. The team really needs more pitching. But I'm sure Brian Cashman & the rest of the Yankees top brass know what their doing. 🙄
