  1. @Ocean Boy Just noticed, apologies for misspelling Jade's name. Maybe a drink an hour is not a good thing. 😅
  2. Frasier is one of my all time favorite shows. Perfectly cast, witty & well written right up to the end. I was wondering how the reboot would fare. Glad to hear positive things as i was afraid it might be just a shell of its former itself with an entire new cast. I'll need to check it out.
  3. That's less than a drink an hour, even if you sleep 8 hours. At that pace, I'd probably not even get a buzz and go straight from stone cold sober to hangover. 🤪
  4. Why do you continue to infer that people who opt-out of auto gratuities do so because they are not going to tip, are cheap, could not afford to cruise or want to screw over the crew members? I have yet to see one person post that they are not going to tip. Correct. And if Royal is okay with people opting out of auto gratuities so the customer can tip who they want, when they want with whatever amount they want, then you should be okay with it as well.
  5. You're on top of things! I still haven't figured out what I'm doing for Thanksgiving this year. My sister reminded me it's only 2 weeks away to which I replied "That means I still have a week to think about it".
  6. This thread is really going down into the toilet. Literally. I say that because of all the catheter & laxative talk. 🤣🤣😉 Going back to fear of heights, I've always tell people I have a fear of heights. But I have no issue walking out on a glass sidewalk or glass box thousands of feet above the ground. I get a rush using glass enclosed elevators or peering over the side of an observation deck on top of a skyscraper. Heck, I'll even dangle me feet over the side of a cliff - sometimes, only it's it's not too windy and the ground is sturdy. But get me halfway up an extension ladder to clean the gutters and my knees are shaking. I'm gripping the sides of the ladder so hard, not only are my knuckles white but I've cut off circulation to my finger tips. Did I mention I'm only halfway up, like 8-10 feet off the ground? So maybe I don't have a fear of heights but a fear of my own natural clumsiness?
  7. I've always thought the Christmas crowds in NYC feel different. Less rude, more cheerful. Not sure if it's because there are more out-of-towners or if people in general are more festive and caught up in the holiday spirit. Although I do try to avoid Rockefeller Center as it's just too crowded & touristy. Plenty of other places in the city to see big Christmas trees where you can actually get up close & almost touch them.
  8. When I lived in Rockland County, most if not all of my clothes shopping was done at Paramus Park Mall and Garden State Plaza. Back then, no sales tax on clothing & gas was significantly cheaper in NJ. Pretty much made a day of it, getting lunch and/or dinner at one of the many diner or a pub/restaurant if we wanted to treat ourselves.
  9. I always thought it was 15% for breakfast/lunch and 20% for dinner as dinner involved more work. Then again, dinner is more expensive so the same 15% will still be a bigger tip. Using my example above, dinner in theory involves more work. Take a 24/7 diner. For breakfast, you get your pancakes and coffee & maybe a refill and your done. Same for lunch, you get your hamburger & soda and a maybe a refill & you're out the door . For dinner, you'll get your steak and a couple of drinks but maybe a soup/salad & water before and dessert & coffee afterwards and the table needs to be cleaning between courses. More work/more steps. Now, I say "in theory" since breakfast/lunch times are more hectic and the staff has to hustle more (and get tipped less) than they do at dinner time when things seem to proceed at a more relaxed pace. IMHO & just my observations.
  10. It doesn't since the menu prices will be going up as well so the 10% tip will be going up as well.
  11. I miss Thor. He gave the tipping threads some character. He set a very high standard I don't think anybody can exceed. 🙂
  12. 58f here too but it does feel like a "chilly 58f", if that makes sense, much cooler than the temperature would indicate. No wind but no sun either, it's been a very gray day. Finished round #3 of leaf removal. About 2/3rds of the leaves are now down so I'll probably be blowing leaves at least 2 more times, until at least Thanksgiving. I have 4 Red Japaneses Maple trees of various heights that hang onto most of their leaves until Christmas time. Lot of fun trying to rake/blow the leaves when they are frozen to the ground or mixed in with snow.
  13. Enjoy the celebrations, we'll deserved by the Texas Rangers, especially winning every game on the road. Meanwhile, the New York Rangers won all 5 games on their road trip out west for the first time in team history & came home last night to make it 6 wins in a row. Granted, it's still early in the season & there are 5 more months to go but hope this continues.
  14. I've always had mixed feelings about Chapman. In his prime, he could routinely throw 100+ mph fastballs consistently, something very few other pitchers can do. He should have been unhitable. For the most part he was but he seem to wilt in high pressure situations. Too many blown save opportunities in big games for the Yanks & Cub too, I think. Seems like Texas used him more in middle relief roles where the pressure isn't as intense.
  15. Good luck with the surgery & recovery. Not that it's any consolation but I've always had issues with my CVS pharmacy are well. At least 50% of the time they claim to not have received my prescription even though the doctors office confirms it was sent. There are always long lines of people picking up their orders and they seem perpetually understaffed. I wonder if there is a pharmacist shortage in the country? At least they have limited hours on Saturday.
