  1. It's not an Elite cruise I'll give some thoughts about the cruise later on but not feeling into doing a day by day with lots of pics. What I'll say right now it seems like a full ship. I think in many parts of the country it's public school spring break next week and since this was a Saturday to Saturday cruise it's perfect for families with kids, which the ship is jam packed with. At sea day brunch today we saw a group of 30!!! Family members all traveling together. There's kids of every age on the ship
  2. The named violation was 'advertising products'. I guess the issue is the link I provided to buy the item. I assume if I just named the soap and posted a photo of it it wouldn't be an issue. Otherwise there are thousands of posts on CC mentioning specific products of all sorts.
  3. As does NCL. TBH for lavatory sinks it makes the most sense.
  4. Yes table games can just towards points accumulation on VV and yes as with any casino it's always a good idea to be known and nice to both the dealers and casino hosts and/or pit bosses.
  5. It was very easy for our Apex Iceland cruise last July. We flew to Amsterdam, took the train into the main train station and stayed at the Doubletree for two nights which was 10 minutes walking distance next door. Then walked back to the train station and took the train to Rotterdam where we stayed one more night pre-cruise at the Holiday Inn Express which was also 10 minutes walking distance from the station. On embarkation day we took the street tram which was right across the street from our hotel to the Rotterdam cruise pier. The street tram stop was again about a 10 mins walk to the pier entrance. All very easy.
  6. Glad you like the fragrance. Unfortunately I got reprimanded here on Cruise Critic for posting a link to that product. I've been a member here for 23 years and while I know you can't advertise travel agents or other cruise related businesses when did it become a violation of the forum rules to post links for non-cruise related products?
  7. Premier, Ultra, and Elite Casino cruise offers means there will be hosted events going on in the casino that are exclusive to people that have booked through these offers. They also come with extra gifts. Other types of casino cruise offers are just discounted and/or fully comped rooms but will not have extra onboard casino hosts to conduct these exclusive events.
  8. I noticed that. At least it was a minor delay. I'll have to see if I can find out the real reason. People were getting antsy, talking about cluster-f**ks (several different people used the same term) over a 50 minutes boarding delay.
  9. Yes I see that, and it's a great deal, but I don't understand why it's that amount. Since you showed the ship and sail date I duplicated your cruise and as I said the port taxes and fees are slightly less than double that @ $398, which is right. So I'm not sure how they came up with $218. If I do a 1 person booking it's $199 which is what I would have thought for 1 but still doesn't match your $218. I'm not sure where they're getting the $218 but in any event you lucked out. Congrats!👏
  10. Exactly. I was going to follow-up with a post alluding to the fact that my Solstice cruise was during that few months of cutbacks in the MDR and at the Oceanview buffet ( remember all that anger at the dinner buffet cutbacks ?).
  11. I agree the Ascent had a much more active atmosphere and it seems there was a conscious effort to enhance activities and music, especially at night where there was live music in multiple venues simultaneously. That was unheard of on a Celebrity ship ten years ago.
  12. I have to say given that Celebrity is considered a premium mass market cruiseline and even on their newest ships there aren't many complementary eateries on embarkation day they REALLY should open up the MDR for all passengers as a choice for embarkation lunch. NCL does this on their newest ships and it was a wonderful way to start your cruise having a calming lunch being served. Whatsmore they use their nicer aft MDR which is one of the nicest MDRs of any mainstream cruiseship .
  13. We're doing the Meraviglia end of June from Brooklyn.
  14. OK resolved getting my Guys now. Rumor Issue was changing out gangway for tomorrow's Firenze cruise.
  15. Rumor has it there's an issue with the gangway which needs repairs before it can be used.
  16. It's 12:06 and there's an unknown Issue boarding the ship (Diamond here). When we checked in they were saying 11:15 to board.
  17. It's always interesting how everyone has different experiences and it goes to show you why it's always important to read between the lines when doing research on the cruising experience. We were on the Solstice last February and then the Apex last July and Ascent this past February. While none of our cruises were in Retreat I can honestly say of the three recent Celebrity cruises the Solstice out of LA for the Mexican Riviera itinerary was our least favorite with regards to the cruise ship experience. On the Solstice there wasn't lobster served on either Chic Night. On the other hand the Caribbean itinerary on the Ascent was a wonderful cruise experience throughout the ship. Have you tried Olivio Spread? Love the taste of it.
  18. Hmmm,4 extra days? It's not my vacation but I would take the Venezia for the extra days!
  19. Celebrity as a rule doesn't open the MDR on embarkation day for all passengers. It's only available for Concierge Class and I think Zenith?
  20. Thanks. I've never eaten in CK. What's your opinion of it? Is it more like a specialty restaurant or more like a smaller MDR just with different choices? Despite being on Cruise Critic every day I haven't really done any research about the dinner experience there.
  21. No worries. Since my Ovation cruise will be the first time in a JS on a ship with CK I just wanted to confirm what the rules were. I'm planning on going directly to CK once we board to see how many dinner reservations we can make there. I did make My time dining reservations for the whole cruise as backups for nights we can't get a CK reservation.
  22. I thought for JS cabins CK is only available for dinner on space availability and breakfast and lunch isn't an option. Is that not true for JS cabins? I'm on the Ovation at the end of the month.
