Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We did this a few years ago in St. Martin, one of our favorite excursions. About 12 people, went to several markets with the chef (at the seafood market he did a demo on how to filet a huge fish), then lunch at an oceanfront restaurant. Then that evening he hosted a champagne happy hour, galley tour, & fantastic multi-course dinner. It was about $350pp, worth every penny. We have the same excursion reserved on Apex in Copenhagen next month, can’t wait. It’s sold out so I assume it won’t be cancelled.
  2. Jim thanks for the fantastic trip report, safe travels home! We’re on Apex in July for the best of Scandinavia cruise, it also ends in Rotterdam. We have a car service reserved at 7:30 to take us to AMS for a noon flight. Is 7:45 the earliest you were able to disembark? Thx!
  3. We were in a RS on Apex last year. The bathroom is decadent. The sink is very long, with a faucet at each end, so in effect it’s a double vanity. Even when my partner & I were using the sink at the same time were were 4-5 feet apart lol. And it has a great walk-in shower. There are 2 sliding doors between the bedroom/master bath & living room. We had 2 small tables on the balcony that we had breakfast on each morning. They were the height of the lounge chairs, so not a true dining table height. Overall a fantastic suite experience!
  4. We used OBC for a Private Journey that Celebrity helped arrange. One of our favorite excursions we’ve ever done. I’m sure there was a markup but it was an all day event & we didn’t want to take a chance on getting back to the ship late.
  5. We’ve stayed in a magic carpet SS a few times, it’s our favorite SS. Mostly due to the larger balcony, which we use a lot (breakfast, nightcap, etc). And it’s the lowest priced SS. Some people are turned off by the magic carpet itself, it doesn’t bother us at all. It only goes up & down a couple times a day, & is actually cool to watch. The MC SS bed doesn’t face the balcony like other SS categories. We’ve been on deck 8, & in July we’ll be on Apex in MC SS on deck 12. We have one of the end SS cabins so we won’t have the side window on deck 12, but we like the idea of walking down the hall to Luminae. Bottom line for us is the big balcony.
  6. We are so sorry to hear this. Your insights helped guide us on our first RS experience. Many thanks to you & your husband for all the advice. We will toast you both on our next cruise, & we will always “make it count”! ❤️❤️❤️
  7. Have a great cruise Jim! Looking forward to your review of Puerto Vallarta. We’ve never been but we’re going in January (land trip). Safe travels!
  8. Thanks for a great review. We were on Apex in March & did Mt Liamuiga as a private journey since it wasn’t offered as a regular excursion. It was a fantastic experience. We had a local as our guide & he gave us a lot of history of the island. 2-1/2 hours hiking up, 2 hours down…the hardest hike we’ve ever done, & we love to hike. But it was an amazing experience to reach the summit & enjoy the beautiful views! Highly recommend!
  9. We did Vancouver-Seward in late May on Millenium. Fantastic itinerary. Like another poster mentioned, seeing Hubbard Glacier up close from our balcony was amazing. Our favorite excursion was the TAKU LODGE FEAST AND 5-GLACIER SEAPLANE, offered thru X in Juneau. Pricey but one of our favorite travel experiences. We also really enjoyed whale watching in Icy Point Strait (town of Hoonah), which we booked thru Viator. We lucked out with beautiful weather all week. Happy planning!
  10. We did this in St. Maarten in 2018 on Edge, fantastic experience. About 12 people. The dinner was at 6:00, so you have a few hours to relax back on the ship after the time at the markets & lunch. Happy hour first in Al Bacio, with a champagne toast with the ship’s chef, then an amazing multi-course dinner in Cyprus, including a whole fish filleted tableside by the chef, & chauteaubriand. Too much food! Worth every penny.
  11. We did get invited to “Dinner on the Edge” on Apex in March. It’s a multi-course dinner on the magic carpet. We didn’t know about it until our butler asked if we wanted to go. $139pp but we were not charged, it was included with the RS. Amazing dinner!
  12. We did a RS this year on Summit & Apex. Both experiences were wonderful, but Apex was over the top. Our butler sat us down in our suite the first day & spoke to us for 30 minutes, told us we would never wait in a line, never go to the guest relations desk, future cruise desk, etc. And he was right. We were escorted off the ship for all our excursions, via a private gangway, & walked all the way off the dock to our excursion host. We were also escorted on & off the ship the first & last day. Le Labo Santal 33 toiletries in our suite, and monogrammed PJ’s. Snacks delivered every afternoon…too much…fruit, shrimp, cheese etc. Special wines offered at several meals. We made friends with another couple, & hosted them in our suite one afternoon before dinner. Our butler provided beautiful appetizers & champagne. This couple also wanted to go to Eden but it was booked all week, we asked our butler if they could join us the night we were going, he made it happen so we had a table for 4, no extra charge for them. No officer lunch, but we we were invited to a helipad sail away. Also no spa perks that we were aware of, but the spa isn’t really our thing. Our butler was fantastic. Overall an amazing & extravagant experience.
  13. We booked a cruise on Apex next summer while onboard Millenium in May. I checked Celebrity’s website before we went to the future cruise desk to compare. The fare was the same, but the deposit was $200 instead of $900, and the OBC was $1500 instead of $600 on the website. Definitely worth it to book onboard!
