The SAS situation resulted in us being "stranded" in Bergen and Oslo. Viking got us out via SAS code share to AMS then United to ORD. In other words, we endured both Amsterdam and Chicago airports in the same day. There must be a medal for this.

Schipol is just to damn big and should be avoided if possible. My connecting flight always seems to be at the other end.

On our recently completed cruise, oddly enough, the premium option was never mentioned (nor was the existance of a wine list elsewhere). They know your room # going in and just automatically bring and pour whatever you are entitled to. Should you want to try anything else, or even have a cocktail first you have to stop them in their tracks. Viking is missing the boat (sorry) here by not suggesting or offering something other than what their little devices tell them. Maybe an aversion to up-selling?

Never heard the captain. That's why I asked the steward. He also said they were "booked solid" for subsequent cruises. Were we on the same cruise? 540 is the crew? Heard several other numbers from other cruisers who "heard."

At least a couple (by a former RAF fighter pilot) on our recent Homelands were nothing short of excellent. Several on the above list sound very interesting. Viking should make these available.

We wonder what the situation was for the next bunch of cruisers on the subsequent Bergen - Stockholm . If we couldn't get out of Bergen there had to be issues with getting in. Scuttlebutt had it that Jupiter delayed sailing for a day.

We sat around (theater, etc.) until 3 pm. Then to Hotel Norge for two nights. Then train to Oslo and Clarion Hub for four nights. About 150 - 200 in our "group" of impacted travelers. People "got out" a few at a time, often with very weird flight arrangements and long layovers (one couple got 17 hours at JFK!). Lunches and dinners at decent restaurants mess hall style. We got home yesterday after flying all day and having to deal with the insanity that is AMS & ORD. Pretty good cruise overall but too many straws on the camel's back --- Gulf of Finland turned into two nights in Oslo (Mariehamn cancelled and Bornholm missed), spotty service in Manfredi's and other annoyances. Viking is not yet back on their game.
