  1. I was able to see menus for some time, but I'm on an 8 night cruise and they were showing only a seven night menu and the app broke for the last night. Recently they removed all menus and have yet to show back up. I cruise in 6 days, and yes I did delete the app and reinstall it and removed all app data before the reinstall.
  2. I hope we have a great costume party and a great day of the dead celebration. I even bought the makeup! We are traveling on the Ascent on January 7th 2024, I plan on doing a live on that one too, so hopefully I can give you a great prequel on that cruise too.
  3. That's awesome! We should meet when we get on the ship. I plan on being at the Sunset Bar for sail away. Please feel free to put up pics and videos here and let us all know about your Retreat Experience!
  4. Hi to all the Celebrity Cruisers out there! It sure feels like a long time since our last cruise in May of this year on Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas out of Galveston, so we really cant wait for our first post pandemic cruise on the Celebrity Eclipse out of Los Angeles. We have done the Mexican Riviera many times on many different lines, (Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, and NCL) but this is the first time for us to do it on Celebrity, and one cool and different thing on this itinerary is that we will be staying overnight in Cabo San Lucas, so that should be fun and interesting! Me and my wife are avid cruisers and love getting away on the ocean. She is Ex-navy so the ocean is her happy place, and me growing up on Long Island and my family owning a boat, I love being on the open waters too. Living in land locked Utah now really puts a damper on our ocean activities, but we try to get on a cruise three to four times a year. A little bit about us, I'm a full time Principal Software Engineer at a wonderful company that gives us "Boatloads" of time off, pun intended and my wife volunteers for many organizations for our armed forces veterans. She is very active in the American Legion and provides color guard to our heroes when we say good by to them during their grave side services. She is also an editor of an online magazine called "She Served" that runs articles about the amazing women who served our country in the armed services. We also own a small business that we run together that is starting to grow quickly and about a year and a half ago I started a YouTube channel about our travel adventures that also took off. My wife operates and writes a great travel blog. So we are quite the busy beavers. Our boys are all adults in the eyes of the law now, so its easier for us to get away and we feel so lucky and blessed to be able to travel. Like I said before, we are avid cruisers and have done this itinerary many times, but we will looking at this cruise under the pretext of seeing what has changed with Celebrity Cruises since the restart and how Celebrity does a Halloween cruise combined with the day of the dead celebration in Mexico. We are planning on eating at all the specialty dining restaurants and doing the Chef's table. We love going to the shows, and we enjoy a venture into the casino. We will eat dinner, some breakfasts and lunch in the Main Dining room too, as well as visiting the Buffet, the Spa Cafe and the Mast Grill from time to time. We will be staying in a Concierge Class Veranda to help push us up the loyalty tiers faster with Celebrity, so we are not going to be eating in Blu or Luminae. (We are crossing our fingers for a suite in January when we cruise on the Ascent to give Luminae a whirl). We also have the premium drinks package and a decent amount of OBC so I will be trying out all the fancy drinks and somewhat fancy wines. Feel free to ask us any questions about this ship, the food, menus, what slot machines are available to play in the casino... ANYTHING! We love interacting with people and we plan on giving our new DJI Pocket 2 camera a good workout as well as our phone camera, so be prepared for a bunch of short videos and pics here. I just need to play around with that little camera more to get the full hang of the thing! We will be driving from Utah to LA on Friday, and spending the night in the Crowne Plaza right near the port in a Port view King suite and have an early boarding time for Saturday. So lets get hyped up for this virtual cruise with us! Remember to feel free to ask away with any questions! And to kind of get everyone excited along with us, I created a Hype video about this trip with the aid of Google Earth and a fun back track showing the itinerary we are going on! Talk to you soon!
  5. pinch poke you owe me a coke!
  6. That is for 2025 cruises only. 2024 group rates from TAs are protected with tips and have no drop dead date to purchase to have tips included, which is nice for 2024 cruises.
  7. Its a special offer that ends on October 11th. Includes sailings from "Summer 2024 onwards"
  8. Nope. The fare for two is the fare for two, even if one is a no show. There is no repricing at the port. The only thing that happens is a refund to the form of payment of taxes fees and port expenses for the no show.
  9. I don’t see them specifically called out in the East Plus package so I’m not holding out hope, but donpast cruiser know if Energy Drinks like Red Bull is included with the East Plus drink package?
  10. Just like 90% of companies that are not tech based, Celebrity outsourced a large portion of IT, especially the development to 3rd world countries to save about 3x the cost of development. But now they pay the savings in 10x the cost in software fixes because of shoddy coding by rank amateurs that should be nowhere near code that has to scale in mass. I have ran large IT/Development shops. Most considered their tech department as a profit center. But when a company considers the IT/Development departments as a cost center, this it the all to often just deserts.
  11. Last Sunday I was looking at the Apex transatlantic for November 2024 coming back to the US from Lisbon. Today I was planning on booking it and my TA said that Celebrity has closed the sailing. He was not sure why the closing of bookings and is trying to get information. Anyone out there with some inside info? I'm kind of glad that I didn't book it on Sunday now if Celebrity is going to change things up again like they did with the Beyond.
  12. I just booked an Aquaclass with my Travel Agent on a Transatlantic on the Silhouette 13 Nights from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale on November 16th. This is also a holiday cruise since Thanksgiving falls within it. We are paying $5,518.20 with a refundable deposit and $250.00 OBC. I just did a mock booking on the Celebrity website for the same room and with a refundable deposit, and it was $9,344.20. A huge savings of over 3,800.00 vs the Celebrity website, which equates to about 40% off. I wish I could help you here on CC, but the rules will not allow it.
  13. Even though Discovery is technically newer in age, it's a much older design then the Edge class ships. The Discovery princess also has about 25% more passengers on board her but only 11% larger than the Edge, so it feels more crowded. I understand the sticker shock though. This is why I recommend finding a good TA. I just checked some group pricing from my TA for September 6th 2024 on the Edge doing Alaska, and for a concierge class veranda with the All Included and a refundable deposit the price is 4,792.96. If you can live with a Deluxe Porthole view w/ Veranda on a higher floor vs the 6th floor, it will only cost you 3,932.96, and you also get on board credit that Celebrity currently is not offering. September 13 is even better pricing and you can get an Edge IV for 4,003.66 When comparing that to the RCI Quantum of the Seas for around the same date, it costs $2,924.68 for an obstructed balcony with tips included, no drink package, no wifi and a non-refundable deposit, so for 500.00 per person you get WiFi, Drinks and a Refundable deposit, which is not a bad value in today's current market.
  14. The question during the pandemic for those MBAs was to load with debt or go out of business. Not a very good decision to make, but hands were tied based on inability to generate capital from operations for almost 2 full years. There will come a tipping point when the cost cutting in order to service debt quicker reverses the pace of cabin booking. It is at that time the cutting will stop because it becomes cannibalistic to the company at that point. What we see now is the testing of where that tipping point is, and getting as close as possible to that point. It stinks, it lowers the value we have been accustomed to but it is something that I expected. I know where my tipping point is, but I have yet to hit it.
  15. feel free to ping me at rbine zero five two five at g mail if you want that contact.
  16. Dang those Concierge prices are way too high. I have a great agent that uses group rates that can knock off at least couple grand off that concierge pricing. We are on the Beyond for the 10N cruise on January 24th 2025, and the price for our C2 Concierge Class IV with All Included and a Refundable deposit was $5,251.44 with 250.00 OBC.
  17. So I just got off the phone with Celebrity inquiring about this change. 1) They confirmed that this change is occurring fleet wide. When asked why the change, I was given the response that they are trying to stream line services to the guests within these staterooms. Currently on Edge class ships, a butler is assigned 9 cabins, if said butler is being monopolized by 2 or so cabins, it could lead to derogated service to the other cabins. They pointed to end of cruise surveys for this rational. 2) They confirmed that there is no scheduled communication that is planned to go to the passengers. I asked them why there will be no communication about the loss of the assigned butler for the stateroom and they said that the "Retreat Team" will provide the same service as the assigned butler so no "material" change of services is expected. 3) They confirmed there will be no "grace" given to those who will be loosing their expected suite benefit of an individual butler for their state room. When I stated that I do not believe that the "Retreat Team" is not the same level of services as an assigned butler and would now rather cancel or move to a different class of cabin, they said that a cabin change can occur but repricing will be done based on current prevailing rates and promos, not based on when the original booking occurred and can only be done if prior to final pay date. They also stated will be no compensation if I plan on staying in the SS and no consideration will be given to return a deposit for a NRD booking because there will be no "material" change in service since the Retreat Team are tasked to accomplish the same service as the butler. Personally, I think this is poor business practice, and could harm the brand with future business due to the lack of concern for the passengers perceived change of value, no matter the lack of "material" change in service. I believe suite passengers on Celebrity fall in 2 major categories. The once in a lifetime bucket list experience category and the suite cruisers who are very loyal to the brand. Of the 2 categories, the loyal to the brand category size more than likely far exceeds the other category of bucket list suite cruisers. You do not want to cause perceived harm this category of clients. I'm sure the powers that be had the bean counters do their math to figure out the best course of action for the business, current and future, but without that information, I have a hard time believing that those decisions had all of the proper data. But I'm working with far less information than they have that's for sure.
  18. I think most of the people who book suites have some sort of financial discipline. They are not vacationing on credit card interest and the demographic most likely has had their student loans paid off decades. I have not or never vacationed on credit card debt and I have had my student loans paid of for over 20 years. The way prices go down is if when the market will not tolerate the pricing for the services received. Plain and simple.
  19. What a real notification about a PUP opportunity? But I want to talk about something else! Signed, Tangent Man
  20. I plan on calling Celebrity about the no show ahead of time. I was told to do this to get the taxes/port fees and expenses refunded. So in essence I'm paying the full double occupancy rate. I have done this on other lines and was awarded double points. Just not sure with Celebrity.
  21. My Second passenger for our cruise might need to cancel, but I'm going. I wonder if I will get double Captains Club points if this happens. Anyone has any experience with this? Thanks in advance!
  22. I was the same. Until I was able to save over 2k on a group rate. I gladly gave up that control. I use a small travel agency of just a husband and wife team. I have their cell and they always answer a call or a text. No call center, no wait time. Its been a real eye opener when you find a good one.
