  1. Have you considered just adding baking soda to normal water?
  2. Word to the wise - check your onboard bookings/changes CAREFULLY! I recently asked to have a previously booked cruise repriced while onboard - I already had the room bump-up applied, with the cabin of my choice. Got home and found that they'd removed the bump-up and put me in probably the worst OV room imaginable. So I wrote to the CN folks, expecting them to correct the error. HAH! Got a wonderful explanation about how the bump-up is only applied onboard yada yada, no changes after you disembark. Um, hello, I was onboard, I never asked for a different cabin, etc. Waiting now for a response to my wonderful explanation on how I was onboard and they need to correct THEIR error. Note: I've usually found the onboard CN staff to be quite good - not the case on this last cruise. Among other things, the CN manager told me you only got 1 price change (cruise in question is a year away).
  3. FYI, reduced solo supplement (150%) for inside and OV on the Sun to Alaska - through 8/6/23
  4. If you book a $50 excursion onboard, you are charged $50 and then credited $50. Not OBC, it's a cash offset. If you book a $100 excursion, you pay $100, then get a $50 cash offset. You don't get the $50 if you don't book an excursion. And it isn't OBC, it's a cash offset against the price you are charged for an excursion.
  5. If you pre-book before the cruise, the $50 credit plus any latitudes credits are calculated so you only pay the final price. If you book onboard, the $50 credit goes back into your account after you take the excursion. It's a cash credit so can be used to offset any onboard expenditures. If you have a credit balance on your account at the end of the cruise, they will call you and ask that you get the cash before you disembark. If you book a cruise onboard, the $50 credits can be used to buy CN certificates to use toward the deposit - or simply applied as a deposit. Note: if you book onboard you must let them know if you are eligible for a latitudes discount, it is not automatically applied.
  6. Only one I've participated in actually won but I wouldn't say big. I think we all walked away with about $20 each from our $5 investments. I seem to recall we were losing until the last spin.
  7. I have no problem telling the airline, was just asking if it's possible to do on the last leg. Flights are already booked, NCL won't rebook at this point.
  8. Yes, NCL will book a return to a different gateway but it has to be requested during the initial booking. 75 days is too late. Done it before but I've already got my flight info for this trip. In this case, certain people couldn't make up their minds or plan that far in advance!!!
  9. Unfortunately, it's after the second leg so I'll have already cleared customs and rechecked luggage before the flight to LAX. Would be pretty simple if it was the first US stop but it's not. And too much for carryon...
  10. For my upcoming cruise, I have a layover at LAX. I have family in the area so I've thought about extending my trip for a couple of days. I know I can be a no-show but is there a way to get my luggage routed so I can pick it up at LAX, not the final destination? Kinda afraid to call NCL and even ask because even if they agree they might get it wrong and cancel the entire reservation - ouch. FYI - I have it on good authority that NCL is working on revamping the air-reservations department, with new management - so hopefully some logic will prevail in the days to come!
  11. You have to go to the CruiseNext desk and sign up - it's not posted in the dailies, as it's not open to everyone onboard.
  12. Sorry I chose to make a condensed, all inclusive statement in the interest of brevity. Both of you absolutely know that water bottles are allowed off the ship - and are also fully aware that they don't check bags going off the ship either. Finding food would be the job of the dogs in the terminal, depending on the port. Must be a slow news day.
  13. At embarkation, no. Security is much more lenient at port stops, so water or soft drinks can often get through. Just back from Europe and in a number of the ports security checks were in the terminal and there was a duty free shop where you could buy soda & water after your bags were scanned. Interestingly, the usual "no food or beverages off/on the ship" was not part of the info in the Freestyle Daily for those ports...
  14. Just off the Star - captain announced the anticipated time, not sure it was otherwise noted if you missed the announcement. I seem to recall it was sometime after midnight. I signed up for the whale excursion, it was cancelled by the operator the day before, presumably because of predicted bad weather.
  15. Just spoke to my pcc and she said NCL is really stressing a Black Friday sale is coming, much more that just normal press about upcoming sales. But no indication about what or when - could be nothing, could be a 1-day sale, anything is possible. So stay tuned, you never know.
  16. Absolutely no way to know. I've had prices go low a few days before final payment. Prices often go down after the airfare promo comes off, around day 75 or 90. And prices go up. Just make sure you aren't already in penalty - it looks like they've corrected the problem but in the past, penalty was 1 day before final pay - and it's different depending on category.
  17. Excursion credit goes to passenger #1 on the reservation. Although it can happen, checking names isn't usually done except possibly in the case of excursions that require liability waivers or age/DL verification.
  18. I brought a couple of furry friends with me on a cruise and my cabin steward brought towel animal friends to join them.
  19. They were in the process of revamping lots of rules just before covid hit. You also used to be able to pre book excursions and pay onboard with OBC.
  20. Guess it depends on where you are looking! But since I have multiple cruises booked, very little waiting to cruise. Just reduced a May cruise in Alaska by over $1k because they lowered the supplement (ov only).
  21. Don't forget the pre-black Friday sale, the pre-pre-black Friday sale and the extended black- Friday and early Christmas sales.
  22. Casino charge is 3%. If you are talking about the NCL card, it's a NCL purchase which nets 3x points, so if you were to take your points as a credit, it's a wash. If you charged $1000 your onboard account would be charged $1030, you would meet the $1000 purchase requirement and have $30 in statement credit, plus whatever sign-on bonus. Or an additional 3000 points toward a future upgrade.
  23. You don't. To "cash out" obc you would add money (3% fee) to your account at one of the machines, then load it onto the machine, then cash out. The cash amount + fee is added to your onboard account. If you have non- refundable obc, you now owe the cash amount and still have available obc. Nonrefundable obc can't be used in the casino.
  24. Yes, it was offered on the Bliss. And the timing allowed for taking a morning excursion - I believe the meeting time was about 1 hour before all aboard. But subject to cancellation based on weather conditions.
  25. Just rub it in!!! I was so close.... Did my whale excursion in Juneau, then rushed back to the ship only to find the last minute cancellation notice. And by then it was too late to go back to town. Booo. But I did make up the missed time in Juneau my next trip - A full day in Juneau, then an unscheduled 2nd day because of weather. so missed Skagway that time. Hoping to book another trip with the Juneau/Tracy Arm combo so I can try again.
