  1. Another hot day in Houston. Jo I totally understand about the chips. I try to keep temptations out of the house I have poor self control. Belle and Susan I’m very envious about you b2bs. Like Ombud not doable with Jazzper (14 and getting more stubborn all the time) Son gone for weekend — this is when I swiffer wash the tile floors, dust etc. we are going to try the kayaks with bike pedals this week (optional paddles are attached. Getting to my best weight has been life changing. Now if I could subtract about 20 years and not have a caution/fear of falling There would be no limits to crazy activities . Everyone be safe, stay out of the heat and keep hydrated.
  2. Belle you are awesome at keeping up with everyone’s plans. Yes my cruise is in 2 weeks. I’m getting excited. Will relax once we get to Boston. Laughing with my son this morning -rented a car for pre day will drive to Kittery - anticipate gas to cost as much as rental. Jan a close dog park friend just got the same report as you from mammogram. I think this is the absolute worst time - the not knowing - being on limbo. It’s time for you to wear purple and learn to spit. (Look up the poem). I hope you make your August cruise. Tell your Dr it is important. The cruise will be therapeutic (make the scheduling of events about your needs not their convenience)
  3. Susan as for my nursing license. I couldn’t retire fast enough. . Last position was hospital case manager the stress was unbelievable. I could have made $$$$$$$$$ as a per diem but it wasn’t worth my health. I would not have survived if I had to work during peak of Covid. Ombud my son is long term at this time. It’s nice to have someone in the house. He cooks I do the dishes.
  4. Love cruising welcome . Join the weekly datedhread thread. We weigh on thursdays. I started seriously eating better 2 years ago. Had a health scare (which was nothing). Normal lab draws found my A1C to be 9.8. Since diabetes can affect all body systems if out of control I got serious. Declared I’m addicted to sweets. Refused meds, controlled by calorie intake in a month my A1C was 7.2. Within 3 month was 5. Lost 100lbs. I don’t like gyms. Walking is my only exercise. Walk 3-5 daily - which my dog loves.
  5. Good morning. That 2 lbs from last week is back. Currently at low end of range. Getting excited about cruise . Started organizing for trip. Summer is here. We are expecting to break100 this weekend. Going to kayak again tomorrow. Really enjoying my son he likes to cook. He rides bike and there are amazing bike trails around me he can ride 30 miles with only crossing one road in the park.
  6. Good morning everyone. Jo good loss for you. Got 2nd booster yesterday. Huge decrease in hospitalizations but stil have acquaintances who are testing positive. For me just means definitely wearing a mask at the airport, plane and crowded areas. I’m hopeful Jan and I get to meet up. Has created a new idea to add to bucket list - going on same cruise with others in this group. (Could meet for a buffet lunch). Still walking goal 3-5 miles a day — this morning Jazzper was in the mood to chase squirrels behind the community pool. He stalked while I walked 15 laps. Walks with Jazzper are always leisurely - we have no one to impress. It’s nice to have my son in the house. Spends weekends with GD. Bikes a lot., eats healthy. Jazzper adores him.
  7. Have a friend with Covid also vac and boostered. I just got second booster yesterday next cruise is June23. I think this virus is here to stay. Luckily people who are vaccinated / boostered are getting much milder cases.

  11. JAN I think of you frequently. My Maine cruise leaves June 23 from Boston. We will be in Bucksport Municipal Marina Sat Jun 25 1030 pm to Monday Jun27 1 am. Literally all day Sunday Jun 27. Wondering if you would like to meet? I no longer have problems with blood sugar. A1C went from 9.8 to 5.2. I’m the typical nurse don’t like pills . My pcp allowed me a trial on just diet (great collaboration) in a month it was down to 7.5. Fat is an enemy stores estrogen, affects circulation, I can go on an on. I feel so much better have more energy etc. I’m comfortable in my wrinkles. Yes Olaydt is correct we need to be comfortable in our own skin. Love ourselves for who we are. Now I have the time , energy and confidence to enjoy my retirement.
  12. Olay’s t. Welcome. My reason for weight loss is I was way too big. Addicted to sweets. Diabetes out of control and I was unhappy with being the biggest in the room and very limited activity Stairs killed my knees, couldn’t do small adventure cruises because I couldn’t do stairs. now I’m more active, went on an uncruise and had a ball (including up/down 10 flights of stairs a day. . Just got home from kayaking for an hour. I feel better and look great in clothes, naked it’s not horrible. Jan I’m so sorry. I’m sure your in shock. It is going to be a roller coaster of activities, surgeries, chemo.
  13. LOL my old age showing plumes meant to be blooms - I’m definitely decreasing mental function. At least I’m aware of the problem. Joke at the dog park is between 4 of us we have a complete brain. Tried Prevagen for 3 months didn’t notice a difference.
  14. Belle thanks for the start of the week. Jan great trip with family - if I go out to eat with Houston son we frequently split a plate. You flowers sound amazing. When I lived in Wisconsin I had a hydrangea tree plumes were basketball size. Also had a poppy flower bed (probably was 50 years old it was maybe 6x4 ft had 100 plumes a year. Jan about your biopsies. Take a deep breath, don’t over think the what ifs. If you have a cruise planned in the next few months take it. I had breast cancer in 1991 and 2011 if you need someone to talk to let me know . I worked as a breast health case manager for several years. does anyone know if we can post email addresses or phone numbers? as for weight. I got serious this week- no more lifesavers, tempting foods. im not hungry but crave food — definitely have loss of taste of most foods. I also have been trying to use my vibration plate 2x daily. (Trying to jiggle the remaining fat on hips and thighs). Im 2lbs below my prior wt range. I’m 2.5 months from surgery and it can take 3-6 months to see the full result. There is a 50 yr old man at the dog park I hadn’t seen in 2 years . He was soo excited to see the new me called me sexy and gorgeous Wow what an ego boost.
  15. I just got the newest brochure that mentions the airfare option. I am not hopeful they will provide relief from the higher prices. their pre cruise hotel options are way out of my range. I live in Houston and they are only listing hobby airport. Its an hour away. I live 20 minutes from IAH /
  16. Good morning. Seems like all everyone is doing well. will Covid ever go away ? Teacher friend was given Covid from a coworker end of school year hug. She has been vac and boostered. She has fever sore throat still has appetite. Jo about the wrinkles - I’m fair skinned so sun is not my friend. I don’t own a swimsuit. I look great in clothes. I’m liking the shape wear garments (keeps loose skin out off my sight ) Belle I don’t get lonely - like being alone. Jazzper has brought many friends into my life. My afternoon dog park visits are more for me than Jazzper. I visit with all the other old farts . Ombud - I struggle food shopping thinking I could buy a treat and make it last for a week. I’m like a zombie with sweets — getting up for just another little bite until it’s gone or I throw it out. When I throw out tempting food I first soak it in water so there is no chance of recovery. Scamp (big hairy dog) was wonderful. No problems. Of course he preferred Jazzpers food and Jazzper ate his. Summer heat and humidity are here for the next 4 months. I don’t mind the heat.
  17. Belle divorced in 1986, I’ve not been out on a date since 1996. I’m very content. Financially in good shape thanks to Bohemian upbringing - don’t buy anything on time. I’ve lived alone since 1990. New England cruise end of June. Road trip Arkansas in October. Thanksgiving cruise out of Galveston . Lots to look forward too. Need to get back on track of eating meals and stop snacking. everyone have a good weekend. Dog sitting a friends large hairy dog- his first sleep over.
  18. Sorry was distracted yesterday. Had dominoe party stayed good - friends bringing and take out desired snacks. Belle I’m with you in a funk. Wt in the same range kind of middle. Never had any loss from surgery Doesn’t make sense. (Look good in clothes and ugly naked sooooooo much loose skin. I need to get over it and be happy). The tummy tuck got rid of horizontal belly sag but created vertical folds) House is empty son in Utah until June 11. Russian friend moved to Co. Meghan great start stick with the plan you will be amazed. Ombud nice couch. An inch is wonderful.
  19. Meghan. I put most of my wt on between 1996 and 2004 and kept it on until 2019. I joined this group when I decided my wt affected my quality of life and a health scare. I started on this site in 2019. In the 2.5 years I’ve been here I reached many goals. I always focused on small goals. First get out of the 200s and get to onederland. Then it was 10# goals I kept a log of weekly weight (I weigh daily and my wt fluctuates in a 3# range) monthly goals changed as wt loss slowed. A goal of 5 lbs was achievable and sometimes it be more . Eventually it was 3 lbs per month. I never thought when I started I would get below 150. But I’m now in maintainence with range in the mid 120’s . With the support of this group I lost 100 lbs. another goal was to not wear any clothing with an x thinking just lg would be good here I am in S-M —I don’t like tight clothing. I’m glad you have joined us. All support and encouragement.
  20. Ombud I enjoyed reading about your remodeling - you sound very talented and creative.. there is so much more to each of us besides wt and eating. Acruisingperson (is there a shorter name we can use?). Welcome. I tried Jenny Craig about 10 years ago at that time I had to go pick up my food. After two weeks I was doing very well wt wise. Someone in that office tried to order $600 from avon on my card idiot forgot to get the 3 digit code from back of card. Didnt feel safe to go back and manager didn’t seem to care. I got to my goal wt and have maintained for 6 mos with the support of this group.
