  1. Looks beautiful! Where did you get this trolley in relation to the port?
  2. http://www.cartagenatour.com is Dora's site.
  3. Thanks so much to all, so many great ideas! Glad some of the lines are operating again. We are going in October so hopefully it will be better then, also.
  4. Thanks, John! That is exactly the info I needed. Cruisers are the best! When I looked into it recently, I did see that some of the Cliff Walk was closed. We are not going until October, but I always plan (too far!) in advance.
  5. Also, approx. how long does it take (on public trans) to get to MOFA from the port? Or from there to Harvard/Cambrdige? We would pick one, not trying to squeeze too much in one day.
  6. Thanks so much for the info - I was planning on only seeing one thing, as we like to take our time in museums.
  7. We saw the lighthouse on a guided tour, but would like to spend more time there. What is the best way to get their on your own form the port? TIA.
  8. We have done (and greatly enjoyed) the Freedom Trail and the USS Constitution and Bunker Hill. So I was thinking of MOFA and wondering how to get there from the terminal. No problem with some walking, but would take transport for speed. Also interested in Harvard/Cambridge, but it may be a bit far from the port? I don't want to spend all day on a bus and have to worry about getting back in time.
  9. Does RCCL do this also? We are going this October, and I don't think I remember that from our prior cruise several years ago. I know CCL did not.
  10. I am very interested in the cliff walk. How close is this to the port, where the tender drops the pax? Can anyone recommend a map? Also, can one pay a fee to enter the mansions on the walk? TIA.
  11. I, too, would love to see this. But I did note on RCCL (and maybe CCL) under their excursion to Hopewell, it was noted it was 2.25 hour ride. Trip Advisor tourists gave mainly excellent reviews of the site, but there were many that felt it was overcrowded and you could not see a lot, depending on the timing.
  12. Nancy, the reversing tides are walkable from the port. It really isn't that big a deal to see, just some water rushing. If I didn't know it wasn't such a big deal, I wouldn't have thought much of it. We did a ship excursion in the area of the rapids with a zip line. The staff was very nice, but there wasn't much to the zip, and the pix do not show it is next to a malodorous factory and not very scenic. Several year ago, I took an excursion to the St. Martin's fishing village and the sea caves, which were nearly at the lowest tide. (I checked the tide chart before booking, but it is hard to time them exactly, of course.) It was quite a lot of bus riding. Bay of Fundy was very interesting. Since Hopewell Rocks is a 2.25 hour drive, I was wondering it it were worth it. We really like walking and exploring on our own, and hate to spend all day on a bus.
  13. Following - it is such a long ride. Mixed reviews if it is worth it.
  14. When we were there a few weeks ago, our van driver and the scooters were zipping all over the place, and we passed a serious accident involving a scooter. Jerry thought the drivers (all types) were going easily 40-50 mph (approx. 50-80 km/hr.). I looked it up upon arriving home and 35 km/hr (23 mph) is correct. Apparently that is just a suggestion that very few follow.
  15. AFAIK - As far as I know. I feel your pain, as I am a worrier, and I was responsible for our party. The people telling you not to worry about any situation are not the ones taking care of it and will not be dealing with the fallout. On 21 May, the regs were changed to not have to upload test results starting with sailings 24 May. Our sailing was 22 May. Very few in our 75% capacity sailing got their TA in advance, and it was total hit and miss as who did and didn't. There was another large ship in the same day, so the govt. realized they bit off more than they could chew and issued a Provisional TA to allow us to board, then were to get a final one later, which was a total mess and ruined the first part of the cruise. I posted about it here, It is post #13. Now they are just going to issue the one Green Travel Authorization. It seems many have had more luck emailing Bermuda as opposed to phone calls. So many reported they were #89 in queue, so that must be the limit of the system. Goodness knows what number they really were. Many on our ship gave up and called the toll number, resulting in bills of $100-150. Oddly enough, we ran into an acquaintance shopping today that sailed out of Baltimore the week before us (14 May) and said it was a real mess, waiting for hours and the ship sailing two hours late, as no one knew what was happening. That was on RCCL. The wek late on CCL, we sped through; they were a model of efficiency. Now , if one applies in advance, they should have plenty of time to get their act together. We have another sailing 30 Sept., so I will be following. Insane in that the ships have to do this anyway.
  16. For our nightmare of getting the TA for our 22 May sailing, when one still had to upload test results, I uploaded both at the same time. The final TAs came in several hours apart when were were already sailing. Then, a duplicate of mine (Joy) came in 12 hours later.
  17. Sumthing, I feel your pain! This is so illogical and has created a lot of ill will towards Bermuda with the tourists. We sailed there 22 May when the upload of the test was still required to sail, and very few got the TAs on time. Ppl were furious. Passengers went through so much aggravation, on hold for hours, afraid they couldn't even board the ship. No cooperation or coordination on ship from CCL. We spent a lot of time on board chasing it down. I mentioned it in post #13 here. We did an eMed online; you still have time to order it.
  18. Totally with you! The stress, aggravation and ill will among the passengers for my 22 May sailing was unbelievable. Many spent hours on hold with three figure phone bills and lost sleep. On the ship, no one was keeping us informed.
  19. I concur that this is a money grab, and it would be bedlam if all of the ports started doing this. But "scam" involves dishonesty, and this does not. It sure does not show respect for the tourists, but even their own citizens have to do this l when leaving the country upon return. One can hardly cancel the cruise at this late date. Even if it were possible, I doubt many would do so over $40. For me, the real aggravation was trying to get our test results uploaded and get the TA before the rules changed two weeks ago. It was surprising to me also that the cruise lines did not band together and refuse to do this.
  20. Thanks, I didn't know, and was interested in a one day pass.
  21. Great minds think alike, as I actually thought of that, too! Looking at the map, I also thought of first taking the ferry to St. George, looking about the area in the AM, and taking the #10 or 11 to BAMZ. It would be similar to this post: Too bad RCCL doesn't have a free ferry to St. George! Oh, and from what I can see, one cannot get a transport pass at KW? Thanks ever so much for your help and time.
  22. Thanks so much for the info! We are going in September. Would a taxi from KW be doable or too expensive? I know it would be more, but it might save more time.
  23. We took a tour last week that included the BAMZ, but did not have enough time there. We would like to go back and see the Museum and read the info in the Aquarium. Is there a bus from King's Wharf that would take us there? Thinking of going from KW and then to St. George's , possibly taking ferry back. Will a pass cover this? The cave tour was part of our excursion, and we loved it. An overly big deal was made of the step, IMO. Jerry and I stair walk for exercise, and work out regularly, but there were some older folks in our group that were not athletic and did not have a problem. No one rushes you. The caves are worth seeing. Entrance fee is $24, which includes 30 minute tour.
