  1. Following. Cruising there in November. Approximately how much are the tours?
  2. Apologies for the error that read NS - it should have read NL. Does anyone know where the tender drops us off?
  3. Does anyone know if the St Anthony, NS - Santana (Daredevil) Trail is walkable from the cruise port? That is, can we get there by walking or public? How far is the base form the cruise port? The ship has an excursion, but we would prefer to explore on our own. Any input greatly appreciated. TIA.
  4. Thank you - we really enjoy fortresses and loved the Citadel in Halifax. The tour group suggested has to have a minimum number of participants, as many do. Prior to COVID, at many ports, tours would be sold by locals upon exiting the gates. In a city like Boston where we could take public trans anywhere, we would venture out on our own. CCL has a tour that includes the fort, albeit a much shorter time there than we would like. Whatever the recommended time for a site is, we double it! Although on some of the other CCL cruises, we had some excellent tours that were not rushed and had small groups in Bermuda and others. I just love Canada (and many of your TV series!). Most of it is not very touristy and the citizens are so polite and helpful.
  5. Thanks for the info - I realize they are in opposite directions.
  6. We are going there on the Greenland CCL Journeys in August. Jerry and I just prefer to do one thing well. Would love to see the fortress of the Bell museum. Ships tours are overcrowded and a lot of waiting. Shoreexcursioneer and Shoreexcursionsgroup had nothing. Any recommendations? We do not want to rent a car.
  7. Hope everyone is feeling better soon. Jerry and I live a pretty isolated life, masking up at stores. Vax x 5, healthy and athletic. Haven't had a cold for decades. We did four cruise this year. First in March, 65% capacity. Wore masks indoors off the ship and stayed away from other on ship, sanitized on ship, no masks. Shows not crowded. Crew served food in buffet. Second cruise in May 75% capacity, we did not mask on ship, but off ship indoors we did. I felt symptomatic on the way home, had the equivalent of a bad cold and fatigue. Jerry got it from me at home and had a slight cold a few days. Cruises 3 and 4 in Sept/Oct (B2) we were one of the few that wore masks indoors at all times, on and off ship. Stayed healthy that time. We are retired docs, and I see other physicians in stores, etc. unmasked. For us, masking most places is a small inconvenience, but I can sympathize that one that might have to wear it all day and shun all socialization may feel differently. Sadly, COVID is here to stay for the foreseeable future, and it doesn't seem to affect all equally. At the grocery yesterday, I ran into a former (unmasked) patient who was concerned about traveling b/c his wife is diabetic, got COVID at church, and had a lot of problems. He is worried about his brother, in his late eighties, multiple health problems, who has never stopped socializing and never wore a mask. He got vaxed, but no other precautions. I certainly want to protect others, but I have to admit, if I were his age and had health issues I would just want to enjoy the time I had left and not be a recluse. It seems like we just have to decide the best way to take precautions for our situation without having life come to a standstill. If I want to cruise, or do any other optional activity, I am happy to follow the rules they have.
  8. Limiting it to one ship seems to be a more practical idea. I realize that many cruise ship pax don't go to Acadia like Jerry and I did. The day we were there, Enchantment of the Seas was the only ship there, which is not a large ship. Many did not disembark. Perhaps my experience was not typical, but BH was so packed that there was no way it was from the cruise ship pax. Bumper to bumper cars on the streets.
  9. We were there last month (3 October) and town was elbow to elbow, most not from the ship. We hiked in Acadia, which is the WDW of National Parks with the overcrowding. We were there September 2018, and it was not nearly as busy. Bumper to bumper traffic, full lots, packed trails. Even the buses could not move. 90+% of visitors enter Acadia by car, so that was hardly from the cruise pax. All day long we only met one other couple from the ship. There were tour buses filled with escorted tours from elsewhere in the US.
  10. We were in Acadia on 2 October on Enchantment. Acadia has become the WDW of national parks. Unbelievable crowds, gridlock, bumper to bumper, even the Island Tour buses. We were there September 2018 and it was busy, but nothing like this year. In Bar Harbor one could barely walk the street, packed in like sardines. Locals said it is like that often now. Hopefully, your time will be better. Took hours to get on a tender if you didn't have an excursion. Many unhappy pax. Jerry and I wanted to hike to the top of Cadillac, but only could do it about 80% and had to turn around due to time constraints.
  11. We did Breakers A few days ago, but we take a lot of time. Took#67 from transit center. Did a bit of Cliff Walk. Our last tender was five, waited in queue for a hour. Very disorganized. If you don't have an excursion, like us, you are last to get a tender over in the morning. Also #67 buses were full coming back in the afternoon so we walked most of the way back.
  12. Just got off Enchantment yesterday, B2B with Bermuda first. Testing major stress, but not as much as when results had to be uploaded to get TA. No testing for Canada/NE leg. Pax coughing and sneezing into their hands both legs. Even before COVID, that was inappropriate. We masked up indoors, as we got COVID on a May Bermuda cruise.
  13. @RoguepersonThanks ever so much for the info! We are leaving tomorrow for our first leg cruise. Nervous about crowds, experience, etc. Other cruises we took this year were not at capacity and we were spoiled! Thrilled that we don't have to test for Canada. @KATHYMAC68You are a lovely, polite person. Wish we were on the same sailing so we could meet. Blessed cruise to you and hubby!
  14. Did you move rooms? We are just a few doors down for the second leg. Hoping I can just bring some things down to the new room instead of repacking as if I am going home.
  15. We were in St John twice, and there were tours offered when you got off the ship. But since 10 October is their Thanksgiving, it may differ. @BAYA- Google St John HOHO and you will see it is closed for the season.
  16. I notice that RCCL is offering the HOHO for my visit there 10 October. Nut the company's website stated it is closed for the season, here. The NB Museum is also closed for renovations.
  17. I would like to know this also. Beautiful pix! When we were there in May, CCL had a great tour, over 5 hours long, that was on a mini bus. We did not see St Georges, but spent time at the Aquarium/Zoo and toured the Caves, lighthouse (driver stopped per request), and drawbridge. Jerry and I usually do private excursions or explore on our own, but we had a lot of OBC to use. When we go next week, we are going to explore more on our own. Went back and saw a bit more of Hamilton,as these tours don't give one nearly enough time. Bummer that everything seems to close at 5.
  18. Another reputable source is here. It does apply to cruise ship pax.
