  1. When I was a Girl Scout leader (Brownie through Senior), I had a form for every girl in my troop that I kept in the first aid kite that was close by for every meeting or outing. In short, the form gave me permission to obtain any help or care that was needed for their daughter until the parents/guardians could be reached (no cell phones existed ). I only needed that permission once for one girl in my twelve years as leader, but when you need it, you need it.
  2. You are correct. Five Spice powder is not used in an authentic Kung Pao Chicken recipe.
  3. OP, that is why I gave you the link for special needs. MSC will do the best they can given the limitations of a cruise ship at sea. In the MDR, you will be attended to by a head waiter (in addition to the regular and assistant waiter). The head waiter will meet with you nightly to plan a menu for the next day and will serve any specially prepared dishes to your table.
  4. Google "repositioning cruises." Among your choices will be an on lines travel agent that lists repositioning cruises as a separate cruise choice (and has last minute cruiser in a ticker list).
  5. OP, I have attached the information from the US MSC website about special needs including dietary restrictions: https://www.msccruisesusa.com/manage-booking/special-needs
  6. Has the Information Center and large map at the entrance been removed? Have the "You are here" large maps that are permanently mounted along the walk ways throughout the island been removed?
  7. You have your option. It is number 1 or buy your mother noise cancelling earphones.
  8. Go to the MSC website for your country. Under the heading of "On Board," there will be a section on Families and specific information on what services are available on board for infants.
  9. No. Cruise Critic is extremely vigilant about keeping out any hints on the competition.
  10. My website shows it as sold out. However, inside, oceanview and balcony cabins are available for the five day departing on December 19.
  11. Did you read and understand the NCL Ticket Contract on the NCL website before booking and upgrading? The NCL policy on errors is similar to other cruise lines. "(b) Upgrades/Errors: Carrier reserves the right to collect the fare in effect for the accommodations selected by the Guest. Carrier shall be entitled to, but not obligated to, upgrade any guest free of charge to higher priced accommodations, at the sole discretion of Carrier. Carrier shall not be obligated to honor any booking resulting from, nor shall be responsible or liable whatsoever in connection with, misprints or errors of any kind, whether in brochures, advertisements, on the Internet, during the booking process or otherwise, that result in Guest being undercharged for the cruise. Carrier reserves the right, prior to sailing, to collect the correct fare or cancel the booking and refund any payment made by Guest. Carrier reserves the right to cancel any booking and/or deny boarding to any Guest that maintains an outstanding balance in any amount owed to Carrier."
  12. What ship and date? I can check the website of a travel company that has the contract to fill cabins until seventy two hours out from the cruise and tell you if any cabins are showing. Unfortunately, I can not post the website on Cruise Critic as it is against the rules.
  13. When you chose to upgrade, you get whatever perks come with the new room. You lose the ones that was part of the offer on your original booking. So unless your new cabin was offered with Free at Sea and the Restaurant and Beverage package, you only have the suite perks that was the offer when you upgrade.
  14. This is funny. Carnival has the same reputation it had when I started cruising in the 1970s as it has now.
  15. If you want to make comparisons compare Celebrity to Princess or anther cruise line that is comparable in price and on board experience. Your new favorite cruise line, Viking Ocean, is a more upscale cruise line than Celebrity. I have received the same care in service when I was on Viking Ocean cruises. I do not expect the same from Celebrity, but Celebrity is less expensive. You get what you pay for.
  16. For some of us old folk, that curtain is our most memorable in cabin experience....😉
  17. Half Moon Cay is the private island "owned" by Holland America Line, another Carnival Corporation subsidiary. When a HAL ship is not using the island, Carnival Cruise Line (CCL) is allowed to stop there. There will never be a CCL ship porting at the island if a HAL ship is there because the on shore experience on what is available at the buffet and other amenities is different for HAL passengers.
  18. We have a portable beach umbrella that collapses and has the pole in segments. When in its carrying case, it is forty four inches long and nine inches in circumference at its largest point. We have taken the umbrella along on numerous cruises and have used it in ports of call such as Half Moon Cay, Princess Cay, and Grand Turk. There is no problem on any of the tenders.
  19. The MSC cruises in the Mediterranean are different than other cruises where all the passengers embark and debark at one port. Passengers will initially embark and later debark at that same port at the various port stops on the itinerary. This means that you may be able to stay on the ship (with your luggage either with you or the ship may provide a storage place for those embarking whose rooms are not yet clean and for those choosing to stay on the ship ) until the final call for debarking passengers to go ashore. Check on board ship for the procedures on your itinerary.
  20. Please provide us with your observations and known related practices that might apply to the casino so that we can understand your assumption of voucher mining and profit to MSC.
  21. My official state issued birth certificate is the ultimate photo copy. The state where I was born (many, many years ago) had a blackboard with the required information form permanently painted on the surface. Chalk was used to filled in the information and a photograph was taken of the completed blackboard. I am assuming that the photo negative was stored and when I required an official copy. I received an obviously printed photo with a raised seal
  22. Have we all moved on from MSC makes money by routinely canceling ports to MSC steals passenger's money in the casino? With such a deep distrust of MSC, why do you cruise on them?
  23. Completely read it again. And it is not what I think or my opinion, "In case of a partial Booking cancellation whereby one or more Passengers have cancelled their Cruise Package, leaving one Passenger to occupy the cabin after the cancellation of the other Passenger(s), the remaining Passenger occupying the cabin for single use will be assessed a 100% single surcharge." I nicely tried to point you to where the MSC information was located even though we are on the Celebrity forum. I will not try to offer any more explanations.
  24. Were you locked in your cabin? There is plenty of open public deck space on both sides of the ship.
  25. If you have never cruised MSC before, make sure you carefully read all the information available on the MSC website, especially the "Terms and Conditions" and "Conditions of Carriage." As far as a travel agent, the company that my TA works for consistently beats the published cruise line fares and has additional perks included.
