  1. We have enjoyed so many of the same spots! Enjoy the cruise, if you book it!
  2. I saw 3 motorized scooters on one of my cruises this last year. I think it was our Panama Canal cruise.
  3. We have boated, jet skied and even camped (once) around the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence (Thousand Island area), the Rideau Canal, the Trent Severn Canal, etc. We did Vikings very first Georgian Bay cruise on the Octantis from Milwaukee to Thunder Bay in Northwest part of Lake Superior. We wanted to see the eastern portion of the St. Lawrence so we just finished the Eastern Seaboard Explore on one of Vikings Ocean ships. It was better than I expected. We saw so many whales on an optional excursion in Saguenay! Booked an optional Schooner excursion in Halifax and saw the magnificent cities of Quebec City and Montreal, along with Boston and NYC! Perhaps this is a cruise you might enjoy! I know we enjoyed it more than we thought possible!
  4. Exactly what I thought! We did the Cape Cod Canal last month on our Eastern Seaboard Explorer cruise.
  5. I don’t know how anyone other than Viking can really state the age of other passengers. The best you can do is make a guess based on how old “you” think the other guests look. We were on a holiday cruise in December of 2021 and that had multigenerational family groups. We have been on 8 Ocean/Expedition cruises. January 2020 to September 2023 with other passengers with a variety of ages and abilities.
  6. I would love any information on visa applications for Brazil. Will it definitely be an e-visa or the type where you have to send in your passport? At this point there is no definite information. If anyone has applied for an e-visa in the past how was it? Is there any visa service to help with e-visas? Does GenVisa or iVisa help? If you hear anything before we do please share. I realize that we need to check with Viking, also. Thanks!
  7. I was just joking. You stated, “I have been an advocate for menu changes for some time. My wish has been granted…”. I totally agree with you regarding the changes, as my husband’s favorite, chicken parmigiana is gone and so is my boneless ribeye. If I could delete my comment I would. Sorry if my attempt at a joke upset you.
  8. What’s that saying, “Be careful what you wish for…”?
  9. This is what we saw in May of 2022 in Georgian Bay.
  10. I know it now makes the World Cafe seem even better to me! I hope this isn’t the start of a downward spiral as far as their food choices go…
  11. I’m waiting for permission from the person who posted a photo of the new menu so I feel okay in posting it.
  12. Sad, but true… The person posted a photo from the ship of the menu! It is to be phased out as Viking streamlines their menu.
  13. Someone on my FB Ocean group said it had been removed from Manfredi’s menu! It is my husband’s favorite! He just had it 3 months ago.
  14. We booked NYC to Bergen for May of 2025. Thanks for sharing! Enjoy!
  15. I sent Viking an email asking them to do an Amazon cruise that is a round trip out of Florida or San Juan. Years ago I believe they had one out of San Juan. I’m don’t want to start or end in Manaus. Viking has multiple ways to do the Panama Canal, so maybe with them building more ships they can have different ways to do the Amazon. I would also like Viking to add the southern Caribbean islands.
  16. We have done 6 Ocean cruises with Viking. We have never sailed with anyone else. From reading your post I don’t know if you will be happy with Viking. Once on the ship everyone is treated quite equally. No special areas off limit to the lower cabin categories. Though there is an included excursion at every port. The optional ones sometimes are sold out if you don’t book a suite. Please check out what each cabin category entitles you to. We have recently travel with cruiser from Regents and Oceania who found fault with Viking. We love Viking Ocean, but not everyone agrees.
  17. Our last cruise we were in that cabin. It was very nice with no noise issues, but I found that I prefer deck 4. My reason was because we usually prefer doing stairs, but having to walk up to deck 8 was unpleasant after touring all day, so we ended up constantly doing the elevator. So if you like using the elevator it’s a great cabin!
  18. That’s exactly what happened to us last fall on our cruise from Rome to Barcelona. We were on the last leg of a multi leg cruise. Every paid excursion we wanted was sold out by the time we could book. We were only Deluxe Veranda category, though. We still enjoyed our cruise and did a post in Barcelona and used Viator to see what we wanted. We have also, a couple of times, booked Penthouse Veranda to get earlier booking of excursions. We now also, look at if a cruise is just a part of a longer one. If it is we try to start at the beginning instead of the end if possible. If it reverses sometimes we can. So many things to consider. Good luck!
  19. I tried to link unsuccessfully Vikings bar menu. So, I will try some screenshots.
  20. We had a suite on our last cruise and we used the heated towel bar for drying our suits. It was wonderful, but I doubt we will bother with a suite again. I would rather save my money and use your methods.
