Hi, I brought yarn for several projects.  I was able to complete two summer tops in a linen yarn and a cardigan in black lace.  They were all on medium sized needles (US 7's & 8's) I also bought some yarn in Singapore and knit a beanie for each of the guys at our dinner table and used the rest of the yarn to knit a scarfette for each of the ladies.   - Judy

Thanks, Judy! Sounds good considering all the tours you two were on. Very impressive!☺️

    Good morning.

Started to post before and lost connection.

Thank you for all the well wishes yesterday.

I am feeling as best as can be under the circumstances.  Still pretty bruised.  Lost a pair of sunglasses in the whole mess.  They are all banged up and scratched.  Ready for the garbage.

Medical Center cost us over $400.  Used the Non refundable SBP for it.

We are in Grenada today.  Scrapped our plans to go to Grand Anse Beach.  We’ll walk over to the mall and hope to find a drug store.  Maybe they will have a tube of Arnica Gel to help promote healing.

Will post more later. Internet is very sporadic in spite of Starlink on this ship.

God Bless you all and thanks again for your concern.

    Terri

Eat fresh pineapple - very good for reducing bruising time.

    Good morning all!

The balsamic/strawberry/basil salmon last night was a BIG hit!  We'll be having that again and again, definitely.  Easy to do too!

Neither of us knows any Chinese, I think I've only been told once that I looked exactly like someone the person knew, and I salute all volunteers.  Will pass on the drink, the wine sounds great, and like Debbie @dfish, my blood sugar does not like pasta so I have to limit that.  That said, the first recipe looks the best to me, but again, between the pasta (blood sugar) and feta (kidney disease) I shouldn't have it. Tonight we'll be having salmon cakes to use up the rest of the salmon.  It was previously frozen so I don't want to freeze it again.

We will be in Milford Sound in March, but not the national park.

Yesterday I was able to get the lawn mowed, it actually turned into a beautiful afternoon and the grass miraculously was dry even with all the rain we've had.  Now I really need to get my hair cut, it's overdue because of being quarantined for a couple weeks.  That may not happen until tomorrow though.

Sharon @Sharon in AZ Thanks for the tip about open dining.  We usually have that because that's what we prefer.  But a few months ago when I learned about my kidney disease and need to limit sodium, we requested to be put into set dining.  The best they could do was put us on the wait list.  So that's where we are now.

Sandi @StLouisCruisers Thanks for the heads up about the 2025 world cruises.

Vanessa @JazzyV Safe travels and Bon Voyage!

Hoping someone can tell me the date of the salmon recipe. I thought I saved it but alas . . . Thanks so much.

  4. Thank you. My husband is doing well. Rest  is the big thing now. Luggage Forward is expensive but so worth it in this case. I can’t imagine picking up luggage at the airport. We were told that the luggage couldn’t be picked up at the port, but there was no problem with the hotel.

  5. We used Luggage Forward to ship bags to the Island Princess for the World Cruise. UPS picked them up at our home and the next time we saw them was in our cabin on January 19. We were able to track them from pickup to delivery. Unfortunately we had to medically disembark the cruise in Honolulu. We checked into a hotel, left our luggage and went immediately to the hospital. I called Luggage Forward to cancel the arrangements for the end of the cruise in Fort Lauderdale and ask if the luggage could be picked up at our hotel. the customer service was excellent and the luggage was picked up on Monday, 3 pieces delivered to our home 2 days later and an oversized bag delivered on Friday. The luggage almost beat us home. We couldn’t have been happier with the service. Our case manager at the hospital had never heard of this service and was happy to keep it in mind since the hospital, unfortunately, gets lots of tourists. It certainly simplified getting home not to worry about luggage for a world cruise.

You have a long flight home.  See if you can request a portable DVT device.

    https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/treatment-tests-and-therapies/dvt-prevention-intermittent-pneumatic-compression-devices

It will require a prescription and maybe a pre-authorization from your physician.  Some insurance companies will cover it, others won't.  I had to really work at my insurance company to pay (at least a portion of it) when I broke a bone near my baby toe.

Glad he will be released soon.  I think this deserves a first class ticket home.  Too bad that can't be claimed to Princess.

Hawaii has great medical support and care (even though we are short of doctors).

My husband has been very happy with his medical care, particularly his vascular  surgeon. We really want to fly first class. He would be miserable in economy.  Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to our post with all your suggestions and good thoughts. It’s much appreciated.

An afterthought.  I did check this place out:

    https://ivyliving.com/theivyhawaiikai/

You would need to give them a call for up to date information.  But when I checked out this place:

    1.  You could "rent" a room for you and your husband on a month to month rate, fully furnished with all meals.

    2.  They had a limited physical therapist but would probably drive you to the closest one.

    3.  It is a senior residential home that many snow birds use for months out of the year when they come to Honolulu.

    4.  I don't recall if they would ask you for a deposit or "registration fee".

Thank you for this info. Fortunately he is able to fly home as soon as at home medical care is set up but we really appreciate all the info you provided. Hopefully he will be discharged Monday or Tuesday.

Wow...that is terrible!  So sorry he is going through this.  And...very nice to hear that AON is checking in with you like this.  I don't think I have ever seen any reports of this from anybody here on CC.  Nice to hear that they can do something positive!  Tell him we are pulling for him and wish him well.  Sorry you've missed a trip that I'm sure you've really been looking forward to.

I typed a reply and it disappeared. Thank you. AON Care Assistance is who is calling. They assist with emergencies and with getting us home when he’s discharged. He’s very disappointed but there are always blessings - we’re thankful we were able to get off in Honolulu rather than it happening later in the cruise.

I’m so sorry for your DH and you, having to go through all this.  Hope he recovers quickly and you get home soon.

If AON calls to check on your DH, then ask them exactly what you need to do to file your claim.  How you claim the cruise fare lost, hotels, meals, airline tickets, etc.

Did you get a copy of the medical records from the ship?  If not, ask Princess assistance team for this to be emailed to you as soon as possible.  You will need to keep receipts and records of everything.

As soon as your home, with all the records, then you’ll be able to submit to insurance.  The medical: they will probably tell you to submit to your medical insurance first.  Just ask them for clear instructions.

Wishing you two all the best.

    Thank you so much.

  10. We were on the Island Princess world cruise beginning January 19. January 20 my husband got an infection in a toe. Went to medical Saturday. They began IV antibiotics and said he would have to see a vascular surgeon when we arrived in Honolulu onJanuary 24. We were medically disembarked in Honolulu and went to a hospital. About 4 hours later my husband’s toe was amputated. We’re still in the hospital, waiting for at home medical to be arranged before being fit to fly home. Care assistance at AON Insurance calls everyday as do Princess Family assistance. Both cruises have been canceled - 100% penalty for 1st segment and 75% for 2nd segment. I’m looking for tips on filing a claim for primarily  the cruise fare. We think the bill for ship’s medical was reasonable and thought the entire medical staff were outstanding. The doctor on board was kind, knowledgeable and empathetic. Couldn’t have asked for more.

We are looking for tips etc. on getting a claim filed for the penalties from Princess. Obviously it’s a large amount for a world cruise. Thanks for any advice.
