  1. PVP won't be happy with that at all. They may assist, but I was told by mine that they do not get paid for any cruises they don't personally book upfront. Was told there is no provision to "transfer" it to her.
  2. We are driving in and staying in a hotel. I have heard horror stories about the official parking lot including break ins, long shuttle lines, etc. Looking at the map, there are a couple of downtown parking garages within 2 blocks of the port which would be easily walkable. Does anyone know if a car could be parked at these lots for a 6 night cruise and an overnight hotel stay? I'm looking specifically at the Town Point Garage.
  3. Regardless of where you're coming from, fly in a day early. I personally know people who missed the ship due to flight issues and it is especially bad now with a shortage of pilots and flights being routinely cancelled.
  4. Most state laws, including Vermont (I would assume) label liquor as alcoholic drinks over a certain % ABV. ABV under a certain % (usually around 20/21%) are allowed to be sold in grocery stores. In Ohio, watered down liquor such as vodka, rum and even bourbon are sold on grocery shelves. Just because they are sold in grocery stores, doesn't make them wine. I think it sounds like it should be allowed, but it might not depending on the security personnel.
  5. It honestly doesn't matter and can change. In October, we left from terminal 2 and redocked in terminal 3. They are very close together and there is only 1 parking garage.
  6. I stand corrected. I think I was combining a couple cruises together in my mind, I've been looking so much.
  7. I believe I've seen MSC cruises leaving from Port Canavaral going to Bermuda as well. I don't believe the layover time is all that long though.
  8. Fort St Catherine over in St George has some amazing history if you're interested in that. A taxi will be needed to get there and back. Other options would be the Frog & Onion restaurant at the Dockyard as well as the Fun Golf. A putt putt course unlike any other.
  9. The water is already coming back into the bay. From what I understand it starts to come back to proper level within about 24 hours. The Hillsborough Bay webcam shows the land that was present yesterday under the bridge is no longer there. Can't tell if it's close to "normal" at this point, but its progressing towards that.
  10. The Tampa Bay area certainly seems to have dodged a massive bullet. I'm sure we'll be on the ship Monday, but it'll be bittersweet knowing that there are tens of thousands of lives that are permanently changed because of the storm.
  11. I don't think it'll happen but I'd love nothing more than to be sitting outside at Sparkman Wharf drinking a beer on Sunday afternoon
  12. The port won't be open until the roads are clear and power is on there... I don't think travel out of Tampa will be that bad, IF they have a car left.
  13. We're supposed to be leaving on the Oct 2nd sailing and are still unsure about it. We're flying in on Sunday and staying downtown near the port. Even if we can get down there, we're concerned that there might not be food or power in the area.. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.
  14. I wouldn't even use the app. At this point, there's really no need.
  15. A banner on the top of the port's website that was last updated January 2022. Clicking on it takes you to their protocols including mask usage. I found out through other sources that masks are not required.. thank God.
  16. Yep. Praying we get to fly into Tampa on Sunday and hang out at Sparkman Wharf's Beirgarten for a while.
  17. You are mostly correct but the official policy says "original or copy" of birth certificate. The term "copy" may mean photocopy of it, but it could mean copy from the government office. There is only one original and that is from the State Department of Health... all other requested BC are considered certified copies. Most agents will take a photocopy, but I would think it's best to have the certified copy to be safe.
  18. Well you know us husbands are right some of the time 🙂
  19. We're watching the same storm. We are sailing out of Tampa on Oct 3rd, flying in the day before. Guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.
  20. There is literally no way to determine that unless you are privy to their internal chart of accounts. Also what constitutes a lido worker vs say a dining room staff.. They all do double duty... and what about the cooks.... what about the staff that clean the tables in the lido...
  21. They pay approximately $1B / year in food costs historically. 2020 and 2021 are exceptions but 2022 should be close to that number with 2023 exceeding it significantly due to inflation. Payroll figures are roughly double food costs.
  22. That ends up being between 7% and 8% of passenger ticket cost and is substantial enough of an amount to be listed separately on their external financial statements. Yes, they get substantial discounts on food from their vendors but to say they pay very little is just wrong.
  23. If by "very little for the food itself" you mean over a billion dollars a year on average, then you are correct.
  24. Agreed, especially considering that most people with large tumblers have a lid they use. They take the lid off, refill their cup and place the lid back on.
