  1. I would imagine 3 pages is more than enough blanks for a Trans Atlantic cruise. What countries are you going to? We have traveled extensively since we got our passports, including 44 night cruise from Honolulu to Sydney, 40 nights from Montreal to Southampton, and a Baltic cruise from Amsterdam with a week in Paris. We only have 2 stamps. One was from a week in the Bahamas and the other is from Ireland this past June when we were on the 40 night cruise. So if it were me,. depending on the countries you will visit, I wouldn't spend the money for an expedited passport, or risk it not getting back in time.
  2. Here is the link to Regent Air on their websites. At the bottom of the page is a lift of Gateway cities. Below that is "Terms and Conditions." If you read that section it will tell you about both gateway and non gateway departures. https://www.rssc.com/experience/customize-your-journey/air-program
  3. I'm an iPhone guy, but if you put your android in WiFi calling mode, use Airplane mode to stay off the Cell tower, join the WiFi, I believe your android will enter WiFi Calling and you can use all your functions just as if you are in your house. We have very poor cell coverage at our house so we use WiFi calling all the time. It's seamless and you can only tell if you look at the "carrier" that you phone is connected to. In our case it will say "ATT" if on a cell tower or "ATT WiFi" if on WiFi calling. I believe it's the same for any android. You just need to activate the service which is free.
  4. We did 40 nights on Navigator from May 28-July 7 and loved every minute of it. In fact we booked her again in March for a 10 night. I have to admit, that one bad night in one restaurant after 72 nights of cruising wouldn't cause me to come on social media and say "this cruise will be our last." But to each his own.
  5. Penthouse and Concierge select excursions and dining at the same time. That is generally the biggest perk to a Concierge suite.
  6. Didn't know that. Explains why or British friends use WhatsApp. Thanks for the info.
  7. If you are connected to the internet and in WiFi Calling mode then there is no need for WhatsApp. Regular texting will work just fine.
  8. What would make you happy about missing a port if not a very generous $250 OBC? We missed ports on both our cruises for weather and didn't expect, demand, nor receive anything for it. The contract we all sign states that Regent can cancel or change the itinerary with no compensation due. $250 per port seems very generous to me.
  9. I wonder if that's how the internet works on Navigator? On our Navigator cruise last summer we were also able to both log on. We were Silver and in a Deluxe cabin. However by the end of the cruise we would become Gold, so I just figured they had given us the Gold perks when the cruise started. Could be that there's something about Navigator's internet that allows more than one device on a single log in.
  10. Yeah.... like every cruise lines promotions, you have to add ALL the pricing rules, give aways, etc. and see if you are saving money. Generally with Regent, if you booked early enough the promotions won't help or not enough to go through the work to get them. We have 5 cruises booked, 4 of which fell under the 2 cabin upgrade promotion. Only 1 would have been any savings, and as you said that was maybe $100, and not sure even that. Not worth messing with it. But it's always good to run the numbers. If you booked after the last price increase then the promotion certainly could be a significant discount or upgrade.
  11. I believe so. If you get a seven day hold on a cabin, your TA should give you a booking number with the hold. You can enter the booking number and cruise info in your "My Account" "Booked Cruises" section of the Regent website. It should show up as a "booked cruise" and if you;'re within the "book excursions" period for the cruise you can select the "customize shore excursions" section and it'll show you what is still available for you to book. Not sure if you can actually book the excursions before you book the cruise, but you may be able to. At least that's what happened when I had a 7 day hold on a cruise. If you choose not to book it'll simply go away after the hold expires or you tell your TA.
  12. Actually I hope it was an "Unrivaled Experience," since the term means there's no other experience like it. Let's hope it stays that way. 😜
  13. To more answer your question about emails after you've certified you watched the pre-cruise video on line, same happened to us last cruise. I have no idea other than to speculate that the emails are computer generated to remind passengers of the necessity to watch the video before the cruise. That's about it. Once you "check the box,." just delete future emails since it only leads you back to the one you've already viewed. No big deal, you'll get another one on board.
  14. Actually that's the point of the discussion. The 25% solo supplement is a limited special program, as is the free pre/post cruise excursion. It clearly states that the specials can not be combined. This inability to not get 2 specials is pretty much what prompted the thread.
  15. Named suites are not part of the promotion. Penthouse A is as upgraded as you can get. "Upgrade Your Horizon offer is capacity controlled and applies to new bookings only made between January 9 and March 31, 2023. Guests will receive a FREE 2-Category Suite Upgrade, up to a Penthouse Suite (Category A), on applicable voyages†"
  16. The "2 for 1" is a standard "promotion" that is always there. It's a marketing tool only (I suspect you know that). And you get it too. The real brochure full cost is double the cost per person. Since all cruise revenue is based on DOUBLE OCCUPANCY. So you, as a solo cruiser, also pay 2 for 1, but you pay for the second person since the standard supplement is 100% (or so I read above). So take another person with you. You're paying for them anyway. Is it fair? Well I agree you should get a percentage off for shore excursions, food, alcohol. So maybe the solo supplement should be 75% or 50% or whatever they figure those costs to be. No argument there. Or, book a "second person" and take advantage of the pre/post cruise excursion and then just say the "second person" couldn't make it. Hmm.... but wait.... in lieu of paying for the "second person," you can get the second bed in the cabin for 25%. If the cruise is $10000 you'd be paying $12,500 OR you can pay $20,000 and get the "free" pre/post cruise excursion. Your choice. I'd go with the 25% discount on the supplement. NOW, if you think we should be able to combine promotions, then how about I get the opportunity to take my wife for 25% of the cost of the second person in the cabin AND the pre/post cruise excursion. Then we'd BOTH be happy. I know that other cruise lines don't charge 100% as a solo supplement, but apparently Regent does. So it's your choice. If you think they're patently unfair, , don't sail on them. I really don't mean to sound snippy, so I apologize. But it's how I feel. You are "attacking" Regent because you disagree with their pricing policy. But it's fair. Any pricing policy they choose is fair as long as it doesn't discriminate. And no, you aren't being discriminated against. If I want a separate cabin from my wife, I would have to pay the solo supplement for both of us wouldn't I? Should I be able to do that and not pay anymore than I would for a single cabin with 2 people in it? Of course not, and I suspect YOU know that too. 😏
  17. I believer, there is an advantage however I can't really tell you what it is. You can run the numbers if you want. We have a 22 night cruise scheduled as a single cruise. If you price it separately and take air fare out of one segment, it will cost about 10% more. Not sure if it's considered "B2B" since it's offered as a single cruise also. But it's worth running the numbers.
  18. I agree with above comment, "not if underused." I love the Pool Grill also at night after a long day on shore and I want a quick, casual dinner then head to my cabin to relax. But on many of the itineraries it is terribly under utilized. I'm sure that's what drove this decision. Manning the Pool Grill at dinner time requires 2 cooks plus a bar waiter. If there's one person eating up there, that's a lot of waste in not only man power, but uneaten food. I'm guessing, at this time in history, where both supplies and hiring crew are "challenging,' that the decision was made to use the funds elsewhere. I'm hoping it will open in the warm climates when people want to eat around the pool. But if not, we'll simply use room service.
  19. No. They don't get "25% off," they get the single supplement for 25% of the second passenger's room COST. That's a tremendous savings when compared to the normal single supplement. I don't actually know what the normal single supplement is. So I can't comment on whether or not they pay for the entire cabin or a reduced second person cost. My real point is that the cruise companies, ALL of them, make money by filling the cabins. When a single cruiser books a cabin for 2, they are charged a supplement to account for the loss of revenue from the "missing" passenger. I agree there should be a discount for shore excursions, drink, and food. But again, I don't know what the normal single supplement is. I do know that as a promotion they offered the single supplement as 25% of the normal supplement, OR you can pay the normal supplement and get a free pre or post cruise excursion. But not both. That's the entire point of this discussion. The promotions are NOT combinable, and that is clearly stated in the Terms and Conditions portion of the website. That's all I'm saying. If I ever sale solo, I guess I'm the only one who can determine if the single supplement is worth paying. I can say that I assume it's much higher than 25% so 25% sounds like a good deal to me. I'd love to get my wife on board for 25% of the second passenger's fare.
  20. 1. It doesn't matter if you've had "multiple promotions combined" (my experience with promotions cruising since 1998 is the opposite). this one is not combinable. That's the only promotion of interest. 2. I didn't "miss your point," and the rules were "mentioned' quite clearly in the Terms and Conditions for the promotion. All you have to do is select the "Terms and Conditions" prompt on the bottom of the page. 3.I never complained about solo travelers getting a better deal," I stated that we aren't offered the same solo supplement discount that you are. I'm not complaining at all. I'm simply stating the obvious. And the 2 for one discount is a marketing only ploy. My point was that a 25% solo supplement is a pretty sweet financial discount, much better than a 3 day pre-cruise program, right? So you have a choice... pay the full supplement and take the pre-cruise tour, or choose the 25% solo supplement. If you were offered both, then how would that be fair to non-solo cruisers who are only offered a single promotion. That's not a "complaint," it's an observation. As to the normal solo supplement.... the cruise lines make 100% of their money by the NUMBER of passengers in each cabin. If you could sail in a cabin for no supplement, the cruise line is losing money. It's not like a hotel where it's priced per cabin no matter how many are occupying it, it's per PERSON based on double occupancy. Imagine if every cabin was sold solo with no supplement. The cruise would lose have it's revenue. In the old days, on other cruise lines at least, you could sail solo with NO supplement but would be assigned a roommate who is doing the same, or you could pay the supplement and get a cabin to your self. Now they just face the obvious and only offer solo supplement cabins,
  21. That's because all the snails are clinging to Explorer's hull in Australia. 😜
  22. Here is a good video (a bit long) of the Helmet Dive, Show him this and let him decide.
  23. As Kristin Blade described, boiler heat is heating water that is distributed to radiators in the rooms. You've likely seen these radiators in older buildings, most in the U.S. have been replaced with more modern HVAC systems. To my knowledge it is completely separate from your hot water system. Here's a pic of a boiler heat system radiator.
