  1. LOL - That sounds sooooooo good. We go to Sam's, get their very large 80% log looking pack. Looks like a prophylactic as the packaging. I cut it into 1lb servings, seal them in our "Food Saver" vacuum machine. We do something similar with all our bulk purchases, even dry good unless they are already vacuum packed. Just two old folks, not feeding the urchins anymore. Buy bulk, repack, freeze, save money. But, we buy Choice Ribeye steaks from Publics, especially when they are on sale for $9.99 lb. They just had that sale last week. We didn't buy any, we have plenty in the freezer. My wife and I share one with salad and twice baked potato, it's plenty for us.
  2. Are you sure you didn't actually have a steak at Ruth's Chris? Man, that's a lot for a burger, fries, and a lemonade.
  3. As much as I dislike Carnival, well documented here, they do award your newly achieved status during the entire cruise you earn it on. Yes, if you are on a 10 day cruise with Carnival and you achieve a new status on the 10th day, you get the status, perks, and card throughout the whole cruise. On Royal, you don't get the "Status" until the next booking after earning enough points. Just wondering, because Carnival and Royal are the only cruise lines I have experience with, how other cruise lines do it.
  4. I believe this cruise social media forum is the largest, excluding Facebook (which I left about a year and a half ago). I don't agree with some of the moderation in here, just like I didn't agree with the moderation in another social media site/forum and recently left, it was totally one sided. In here, I've already been given a "REMINDER" for an opinion I gave and a few threads have been either locked or deleted. So, you/I kinda have got to go with the flow and navigate around the moderation Bots or individuals.
  5. That's what I've heard several times. Talk about piss poor planning!
  6. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/canada-remove-all-covid-border-travel-measures-oct-1-2022-09-26/ A requirement for travelers to wear masks on planes and trains would also be dropped. Cruise ship passengers and crew would also no longer be subject to vaccine requirements or COVID testing.
  7. If you couldn't view or print your "Set Sail Pass/Boarding Pass" a few days ago, can you now?
  8. They're still working on the debacle from a couple of days ago. I still can't see or print my "Set Sail Pass/Boarding Pass" for my cruise in 35 days. But, my case is at the "Resolutions Desk". You don't know how much of a warm fuzzy that gives me.
  9. I think you are the one that I asked for your TA's name and company. You said that you weren't comfortable putting that in this site. I now understand why. On my reply above, I mentioned two big box TAs by name and one, not both, got ******'ed out. So, I guess if you mention a company name, it is a big time no no in here. I wound up deleting both company's names just to be safe.
  10. Just as a side note and it has nothing to do with nothing: What kind of hamburger do you buy at the grocery store? 90% lean or higher? 80%? I get 80% because I believe fat is where the taste comes from in meat, like well marbled Ribeye Steak, and 90% is a little too dry for me. I like the fat just dripping off of the hamburger bun. 😃😃😃
  11. Yes, if there was a Fuddruckers close to me, I'd be there in a heart beat. All this talk about hamburger has made me hungry.
  12. I say YAY to any Oasis Class Ship. That is all!
  13. As with other issues in this forum that I've responded to, I believe it's a crap shoot either way. There are many pro's and con's either way. I've done both and to be honest, I've had fewer issues booking direct with the cruise line, especially if you get a very conscientious and professional agent, which is hard to do. However, I get a lot more OBC, up to $1,500.00 using a big box TA. There's a lot more to it than the above. You'll need to experience both before you will know what's right for YOU. My only suggestion is, if you are booking a short (3 or 4 night cruise), do cruise line direct and just experience it. If you are looking to book a 7+ night cruise, try a big box TA and get some really generous OBCs, especially if you are booking a suite. JMHO
  14. People like that don't care if they are right or wrong. It's ALL about them, period. Rules are for everyone else. Everyone else are the "unwashed".
  15. I'm saying that $12.00 is a bargain. And I compare the service, variety, comfort and so on. You can wait in a long line at Guys have you stuff thrown on a plate, dress your hamburger in a fix'ins island that who knows how many people have had their hand in it, coughed in, spit in and so on, tasted something and put it back, doesn't include a drink, which I have experienced several times, just to fight/look for a place to sit down on the Lido deck, without salt & pepper or napkins on the table if you are lucky enough to get a table. If you want a drink, you have to go to the Iguana bar (more than likely wait in line there, too) or elsewhere to get a drink while your food gets cold. You can do all that or more while I'm being served a nice hot meal, in the air conditioned venue with a drink included by a friendly face (that's back before masks) and on occasion the servers break out into dance to music I really enjoy. Yep, I'll pay the upcharge. NOTE: I never discussed taste of the burger, that is way to subjective. I like JR's better than Guy's, that's my opinion and I don't expect everyone/anyone to feel the same. I've given my very specific reasons why I like JR's. Those are my reasons. You don't have to agree, I'm not putting a gun against your head to eat there. It's just my reasons, it's what I like. You do you and I'll do me.
  16. Please go to this thread: Specialty Restaurant Pricing Out Of Control And see post #'s 179, 181, 196*, and 199. * Especially this one I don't want to repeat it all
  17. Not that I've noticed. In fact, the Suite Area is almost always underutilized. Exceptions? Yes, of course.
  18. I've always wonder about people that say they don't care about this that or the other thing, especially in a very aggressive manner, and publicly so state. To me, that points to the opposite, they are sensitive to whatever it is. JMHO
  19. My hearing is really something. I have a horrible time hearing/understanding the spoken word. HOWEVER, back during the time we had regular light bulbs in our house lamps, you know, the tungsten filament type, the ones that get really really hot, in many cases I could tell when the light was going to blow. I could hear the very high pitched vibration. Sure enough, I'd get up, turn the light off, my wife would ask me what I was doing, I'd turn it on and it'd blow. That answered my wife's question. She couldn't believe it, to be honest, neither could I. I'm still very sensitive to high pitches. Often it isn't the sound, it's the feeling that almost drives me to nausea. Also, old style commercial security systems used in businesses would drive me out of the business. Again, I didn't hear it, I felt it.
  20. Well, we agree on that, that's for sure!
  21. I've already said my peace on this type of thinking in here. I'll just restate that I don't think it logical to add the price of one luxury item against the price of a none luxury item or compare the price of the two as a loss when purchasing the luxury item.
  22. I don't care if you wear a mask or not, it's none of my business. What I care about is the publicly stated reason for wearing it. But again, I can't expand on my remarks.
