  1. This is the official link from RCI concerning 'The Next Cruise Book Later" reservation. 19067112_NextCruise_BookNowBookLater_FAQs.indd (royalonboardsales.com) There are two pages of FAQs sandwiched by sections of fine print. I have not found anything that defines a time limit from booking to transfer to an agent. The two main time limits agree with your understanding. The customer has two months from time of purchase onboard to declare a cruise in order to receive the onboard booking bonus. The customer has one year to use the onboard booking as a deposit on a cruise without receiving an onboard booking bonus. The customer does NOT have to complete the actual cruise within one year of onboard booking. I hope this helps. There is much to read. I use the Next Cruise offer on almost every cruise I go on. If for no other reason, I can lock in a specific cruise and room up to one year in advance for only $200. This would be the same as spending $100 per person for a booking change. Worst case, I can just lose the $200 up to ninety days before the cruise.
  2. "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark." (Hamlet) Now we know what was causing all of the stink around the king.🀣 He was waiving it around as he made his royal decrees.
  3. I want the number of the TA involved who can help transform from a D to D+ for $5,000 😁!!! So many things have changed in life. My parents used to reward me only if I went from D to a B in school. I do not think they would be toasting my D to D+. I would keep this under the radar for now πŸ™ƒ.
  4. It will take the last nine days of a ten day cruise to sleep it off. You better get the IV ready for re-hydration.
  5. I do not doubt your experience. Imagine how much alcohol would have to be consumed for RCI to not make a profit on their drink package 😱. That is one hard drinking bunch of cruisers. Maybe I booked the wrong week if they do not offer the drink package 😲. Very interesting as I have never experienced a cruise in recent years without a drink package being offered. I do not purchase the drink package for medical reasons but I like that others can enjoy it. No one has to be worried about a DUI or getting a ride home onboard 😁. The hardest part might be trying to find the room that your Sea Pass works on (I remember more than a few people in my youth who would be trying multiple door locks with their key trying to remember their room number 🀣).
  6. Understood. I have seen you patiently answering the same question multiple times. πŸ˜‰
  7. I have two future cruises booked and they both show that the deluxe beverage packages are not available. This is not unusual. There are times of change in pricing and computer programming. which leads to options not being available. That said, I have never witnessed any beverage or dining option not being available at the 60 day before cruising window. "Be patient Grasshopper." (a quote from a 1960 TV show that very few will remember 😁)
  8. Welcome back. The whole situation has been stressful on everyone. The last thing you need is to be worried about is your arrival time onboard ship. I would treat your arrival time as a "recommendation" rather than "a Pirates Code". 🀣 You already handled the hard part of flying and arriving the day before departure. Your experience shows. Just enjoy some time with someone you care about. Life is short but I hope yours is long.
  9. In September this year at Bayonne, NJ, this was the case. They did not check arrival times because there were spaces available to queue for security. It is dependent on the ebb and flow of arriving passengers. Amazingly, it seems like they processed almost all of the 6,000+ passengers BEFORE 2pm! I say this because I checked the arriving vehicle drop-off line from the ship at 2pm and it was EMPTY. Some would discuss the point that this later arrival time saved them from waiting in any line and allowed immediate processing on the ship. This is personal preference according to your cruising style. I am always excited to board the ship and get my vacation going so I arrive early. Your choice.
  10. This is the essence of GTY. When this option is selected, the passengers must be prepared for being booked on any cabin available in their category. I use GTY to extend my cruising budget so I get more private time with my wife. One person's cabin from hell is another person's heaven. I have read some cruisers calling "Deck 2" steerage like it was a third class cabin in the 1930s. Those same cabins can be highly desirable for people with motion sickness for they offer the least movement. The moment a person leaves their room, they are the same as any passenger on the ship. A cabin does not define our existence, it accommodates our basic needs so we can go about and enjoy our fellow cruisers and activities. Everyone has different desires and needs. Life is short, enjoy it.
  11. I have posted that I was done of Cruise Critic but I feel like a hypocrite if I just read all of the posts and knowledge shared by so many people without trying to contribute just a little to the positive ones (they know who they are, I do not need to list the names I keep seeing time and time again). THE main change that signals a GTY room number is the issuance of a muster station, even if the room number still states GTY. Your Set Sail Pass will change automatically when you log into your account and check it online or in the APP. In order to get a muster station, the cruise line has to assign you to a room which is covered by that muster station. In most cases, this is a section of the ship which covers a maximum of three decks in the same general quadrant. They have in most cases, assigned you the room you will be in unless you take action to change it. Many will argue that you should just accept the room assignment for that is part of the contract. Others will say that they have been able to change it. I have no dog in the race. The worst thing that can happen to a request is "No." Nothing lost since you just get the assigned cabin. Many a good salesman believes that every "No" is one "No" closer to a "Yes." Biker, MP, and so many others keep patiently answering everyone's questions about GTY without attitude. There are many posts and threads which seem to keep repeating the same question but now I know that each and every question can be different. I hope this helps a bit towards the enjoyment of your cruise.
  12. Understood. In my youth, my skin might have been paper 😊thin . As of now, a machete could hit it and bounce off. Life has a way of letting you know what is really important and what is "silt" (an appropriate reference to one of my earlier post). Regards and good health!
  13. I cruised for almost thirty years without posting on Cruise Critic. This is not somewhere I need to be be in order to validate my existence. After less than thirty days, I will not give them any more business or my comments. Thank you all.
  14. I think it might be time for me to run silent and deep. πŸ˜‰
  15. Thank you. I am a newbie and I was wondering if I personally did something to justify a lock-down.
  16. My most recent third person travel insurance policy stated the same. My insurance started on the day of my cruise. If something happened on my drive to the cruise, it was considered part of the policy. "Starting" the cruise by being onboard was not the intent of being protected. Like yourself, I do read the insurance policies. I know they are about forty pages in length but they are very descriptive and specific. Some TAs will advise you that you must buy insurance on the first payment of deposit or it will not be possible to get it later. Check-out the very good travel insurance agencies that only demand that your insurance be paid before YOUR FINAL DEPOSIT to cover existing conditions. If I only have a $200 Next Cruise deposit and something happens more than 90 days out, I just call the cruise line and lose my deposit. Cheaper than paying for insurance up to that point.
  17. Is the dress code thread shut-down? I was trying to read comments and it was posted that I did not have access. Your thoughts?
  18. I keep telling you, "It is time to play the Big Six Lotto Ball." Maybe give me a 0.1% advisory fee πŸ˜‰. The proceeds will help a young couple at heart pursue their dreams πŸ€£πŸ˜‚. Oh, I cannot keep from laughing. Regards.
  19. You have reinforced my point: when you have issues, you have to call and get them resolved. Mistakes are made and you call and get them corrected. I know this takes energy and sometimes resolve. I would not let them fester over time. Regards.
  20. I have not had any problems with updating. I would advise you to call Crown & Anchor services and have them verify every cruise since your last correct update. You have been very patient. I would have have written many emails upon the first cruise not showing on the App or My Cruises, especially after four cruises in 18 months. Something seems amiss in such a long period of time. I have had Crown and Anchor issues but none of them have included updating my point status after 8 days after my last cruise. Be patient but assertive. One day at a time. Regards.
  21. I have read many posts. When you are assigned a muster station, try to read the barcode again. In almost all of the instances, you will get the room number after the "-". I have not read anyone being able to read a room number without a muster station being printed. My observations, not absolute fact. Regards.
