  1. My first cruise was in 2022 on The Joy. There were some selfish adults who brought young kids into Spice and into the hot tub. I’ve been to Spice H2O on the Escape and it was kid free during the day but it was in October and there weren’t many kids anyway. Kids are allowed in after 6pm because they often have parties and show movies there, but it should be child free before then.
  2. I just got off the Getaway, 5 day cruise in a solo studio cabin. I got one free specialty meal with my fare. Prior to the cruise I had booked La Cucina for the second night. But, on the first night after the solo meeting a group of us decided to go to Ocean Blue instead (one person had already made a reservation for 4). So 4 of us solos went, we all said we were using our FAS dining credit, we were all told we owed nothing. Later that night I stopped by La Cucina and told them I'd need to cancel my reservation for the next day. No problem. Then a credit for $104/La Cucina appeared on my account in the app. I assumed they'd figure it out. Nope, the last night of the cruise it was still there. I went to the duty free shop and bought some bottles of booze to take home. I'm not sure how that happened but I wasn't going to bring it to NCL's attention.
  3. I also got off the Getaway this morning. I stayed in one of the studios and didn’t mind the layout of the facilities. For 5 days there was more than enough storage for me. I was in the studio lounge a number of times and sometimes there was nobody else there, sometimes there were a couple of people and at times there were 8 of us in there talking. The bartender was there between 5-7pm but I only caught home once. The daily solo meetings were held in Bliss lounge at 5pm each day. People generally made dinner plans then. The first night one woman said she had reserved a table for 4 at Ocean Blue so three of us went with her and used our one Free At Sea dining credit. Another night that same woman, who is Platinum, offered me a free meal at Cagney’s because she had multiple vouchers good for two people. The other nights groups of us would go to the MDR. The solo coordinator would get a head count, go to the MDR and then we were all ushered in ahead of people on line. I go on board right before noon on Wednesday and immediately went to O’Sheehans for lunch. No wait for a table and they sat another solo at the table next to mine so we talked through the meal, I avoided the buffet until this morning when I decided I’d get breakfast before disembarking. I finally spotted an empty table that had dirty dishes on it, which I pushed aside. Disembarkation was pretty fast. I liked Burn The Floor and really liked Million Dollar Quartet. Saw some comedians that were okay, not great. I’ve seen better Howl at the Moon performers but the ones on the Getaway were okay. I liked my first solo cruise so much that I decided to book The Joy for May when I got home. They don’t have studios but I got a solo inside. I will miss the studio lounge.
  4. I was just on the Getaway and saw a YouTube video that said during her next dry dock they will be converting the Imaginarium into Q. I wish they’d come up something new.
  5. Just finished my first solo cruise this morning on NCL Getaway and had a great time. I immediately booked another solo on the Joy in May.
  6. Okay, I just got off the Getaway this morning. Soft serve was definitely ice milk, not creamy and almost no flavor. I only tried it once but it’s still better than what I had on the Prima last year!
  7. I just disembarked my first solo cruise on The Getaway this morning. On the first day on the ship I went to O’Sheehans for lunch soon after boarding. A minute or two after being seated they brought another solo over to the table next to mine so we talked through lunch. At the first solo meeting that night one woman said she had reserved a table for 4 at Ocean Blue (specialty dining) so three of us went with her and used our specialty dining credit. I did three nights in the MDR with the solo members and another specialty dining with three more solos. On my cruise the solo meeting was at 5:00 and they arranged for tables in the MDR right afterward, so it was an early dinner. But, by the time we all decided what to order it was probably 6pm when we actually started eating. We didn’t have to wait to get in, the solo coordinator went ahead and told them how many were dining and then we all went in. I highly recommend going to the daily solo meetups.
  8. That looks horrible and I have a feeling that’s what I had on the Prima last year.
  9. Have you sailed on the Prima? It was disgusting.
  10. I bought a CruiseFirst right after Thanksgiving and it shows an expiration date/sail by date of 11/27/2026. My two Cruise Next expire in 2099!
  11. I wonder if the mix they get varies. Same ship might have a good mix, move to a new area, and end up with garbage. The stuff on the Prima was really goopy, like gel. It stretched and was extremely unpleasant.
  12. I really liked the soft serve on The Joy when I sailed in 2022. Last April on the Prima it was inedible. I was on the Escape in October and it was meh. Not completely awful like the Prima but I think I had only 2-3 cones the entire trip.
  13. I was on the Escape in October and it does have Syd Norman’s. Full name of the venue is Syd Norman’s Pour House. They were doing the Fleetwood Mac Rumours show.
  14. Yes. Still a 50% savings but you don’t get as much.
  15. They had them for a Black Friday sale last month. I bought one a couple of days after booking a cruise and using a $250 Cruise Next for that. It’s nice having that $500 certificate; it makes a cruise almost seem like a bargain!
  16. On my last cruise, my sister & I were checking in on our phones and there was something we couldn’t do, I think we were trying to book a show. I was able to go to my account on the NCL site on my PC and book it there.
  17. I recently booked my first solo cruise in one of the studio cabins. My FAS includes one meal and only 75 minutes of internet. But, my cruise is also only 5 days. I’m not sure if the 75 minutes of internet is standard for a studio or if you get the full 150 minutes for a 7+ day cruise. I’m not paying for internet so I was disappointed that I’m only getting the 75 minutes.
  18. A number of this year’s Canada/New England trips ended early due to weather. Not just for NCL but other lines as well. For those trips, NCL didn’t exactly dock early. They stayed off the shore of Staten Island. Passengers could not get off the ship and do any sightseeing. So t.here won’t be any viewing of the tree at Rockefeller Center or visiting Santa at Macy’s if that happens again this month.
  19. I went to Bermuda on the Joy at the beginning of April this year. We had no issues docking and our itinerary did not change. We got there and left when we were supposed to. Weather wasn’t really warm enough for the beach although we did see some brave souls going into the water. It was, however, perfect for sightseeing. I had been there in August 2022 and it was so hot that it was miserable being out in the sun, unless you were at the beach and had shade.
  20. The two Cruise Next certificates that I bought in October on my last cruise show an expiration date of 12/31/99 in my account. The $500 Cruise First certificate that I just bought online does have the standard 3 year expiration date.
  21. I did The Escape to Canada/New England this year and parties were held in the atrium.
  22. It must have just been the NCL site glitching again. I can also see all of the Joy dates now.
  23. The page says “no matches” when you click on the link. I also looked for Joy sailings in May and both May & June show nothing.
  24. We did the same thing but we were in Bermuda for 2 1/2 days and time wasn’t an issue. But public transportation was easy and cheap.
