Dominican Republic which port for NCL? Taino Bay or Amber Cove
Jordan61 replied to Red-Sol's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
For what it's worth, I'm on the Breakaway right now and we stopped in Taino Bay. -
We are currently on the Breakaway; it does still say on the menu that there is a $25 upcharge, but husband ordered surf & turf last night and they asked him if he wanted two tails. We asked about the upcharge and they said there wasn't one.

NCL Sky Miami Port Suite Check-In
Jordan61 replied to cuddlyquesidil's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Oh that must be it! The Haven waiting area in C is in the same general waiting area, just roped off. A group of 20-somethings ducked in while nobody was looking and promptly helped themselves to the snacks and juice. Someone noticed about 20 minutes later and kicked them out. -

Well, those pictures @Seas2mountains posted look lovely, but for some reason we are in terminal C. -
Oh, eww!

The article said he is South African, not Filipino. Not arguing your point, just clarifying that detail.

NCL Sky Miami Port Suite Check-In

Thanks so much for this, we are leaving on Sunday on the Breakaway from Miami and I just assumed it would be like Seattle and we would go through general security first and then to the Haven lounge. -
Port Cancelled Less than 50 Days Out
Jordan61 replied to realnice46's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Not gonna lie, I'm pretty jealous you're getting a replacement port. We're just getting an extra sea day, with our Tortola cancellation. -
I think I would have a lot more empathy/sympathy/whatever if the people and families of people who got left behind didn't go running to news outlets to complain about being abandoned.
-
Finally got around to reading the whole article. It sounds like the ship was late to leave a couple of ports so I guess they thought getting back late wasn't a big deal. “Our cruise began in Lisbon and we departed from Lisbon about one and a half hours after the scheduled departure at 4:00 p.m.,” Gordon told CNN. “Then the next night or two, at least a half-hour late from the dock, so it is clear that they do not always leave on the exact moment scheduled.”
-
“They looked around and they looked around and no one was there,” Marilee Barker, the couple’s Utah-based daughter, told CNN by phone. They got a taxi to the police station where “the policeman helped them call back to the dock. And they said, ‘there’s nothing we can do.’ ” This sounds like they were way later than just 10 minutes.

Any tour group in particular that you would recommend? Husband & I would like to take a land-based vacation to Spain next year. -
Noooo!!! I love the lunch menu, especially the shrimp scampi and the scallops. How do they not have shrimp on the dinner menu?!

I honestly wouldn't care all that much except that I know from reading here there is a decent chance we will miss GSC, as well. If we do, we'll end up only visiting two ports instead of four. I like NCL, and I love the Haven, so I won't say we'll never sail with them again. But husband & I were already planning on doing more land-based vacations in the future. If we do cruise again I will most likely try a different line. -

What reason was given? -
We were on this cruise last year and it was amazing! The Haven observation lounge is fantastic. The weather was a lot warmer than I expected it to be, so I ended up buying a couple of lighter-weight shirts in Juneau. We didn't do any excursions except whale watching in Icy Strait Point, which was a lot of fun. We have family in Sitka, and on previous visits there (not on a cruise, I mean) we have gone to The Fortress of the Bear and the raptor center. I liked both. We went to the Red Dog Saloon in Juneau (husband stopped there many times in his 25-year Coast Guard career and wanted me to see it). Victoria was an absolute madhouse. If I had to do it again I would've just stayed on the ship. Mario is the best Haven bar waiter! I don't know if Jersey Boys is still the show on the Bliss, but we saw it and loved it. We got to the port about 10:30-11:00 and the Haven waiting area was standing room only, which wasn't ideal. We would probably choose a later time if we went again. Have a fabulous cruise!

I don't think it is anything to do with the missing passengers, since apparently the Jade is changing a stop from St. Croix to Tortola. -
On another site I’m seeing that on another cruise (Jade, I think) that they are cancelling St. Croix and ADDING Tortola. So this is obviously not about passenger safety.
-
I actually bought those! Sad to say, I was disappointed.
-
Yes, I would imagine so!
-
They cancelled it for the 19th as well? So it's not just us.
-
I'm on this cruise too. The email says, "Given recent guest feedback, and to accommodate certain circumstances". I've never been to Tortola, was there negative feedback about that port?
