  1. Another question about QG dining with regard to that narrow walkway - where are the tableside servers going to work their theater? Flambé and carving? The diner facing towards the banquet would strain to see the show and may even get some hair burnt off at the same time. Plus M Roux is adding his touch to QG menus. Will those touches be an extra charge like in the Golden Lion?
  2. Paul and Carole were literally aghast with their first reaction to the QR: “That’s not the QR” and “Queens Room Lite”. Good ones. Cunard correctly emphasizes creating an onboard “sense of occasion” and the QR usually brings that wonderful atmosphere to life but not with this very bland space. I hate to be negative but… yikes. Yes, they need to make some changes. Hyacinth and Onslow won’t be caught dancing there!
  3. To see if anyone wants to meet or go on an excursion etc. Purely optional.
  4. Jack, knowing this is a non-Cunard question but have you ever thought of renting a car and driving to your destinations? You may save money and have more control of your day. Plus, you can drop the car off at the Southhampton docks and get on the ship while not have to hassle with suitcases and paying extra fares for public transportation. How do you feel about driving in England?
  5. Sitting side-by-side looks like the answer to that awkward seating problem. The walkway between banquet chairs and window tables is also too narrow. The designers should have checked with us first!
  6. A travel agent helped me tremendously on my first Cunard voyage (QM2 Transatlantic years ago) and I highly recommend finding one who specializes in Cunard and cruises. You can transfer your booking to them.
  7. Pays to be a YouTube influencer… The Club Balcony looks quite livable. Bathroom is a major step up.
  8. Actually I really liked driving in Britain.
  9. DW is a native of Napoli. Worse when my mother-in-law and aunt were once in the back seat giving conflicting instructions in their Neopolitan dialect during the madness of driving in that extreme madness.
  10. Wait, I thought you guys drove on the wrong side?…
  11. They open the front crew deck area on QE while (whilst) in Alaska.
  12. In old school and like a challenge. Lived it. Plus, I’ve driven in Naples, Italy. It doesn’t get worse than that.
  13. Yes. Look up QE and the date June 21.
  14. Sorry, I didn’t see that you’re not driving on your England trip. You can ignore my driving comments above…
  15. We did a similar itinerary last summer: five nights in London and five nights in Bath using Bath as a base driving around the Cotswolds, Wells/Glastonbury, and Cardiff, Wales. Then drove to Southhampton the day before the TA and dropped off the car at the Docks. I had little problem driving in those areas, even the narrow A roads. Just remember you use your left hand with a stick shift.
  16. We’re on the same Q420. Please sign up for the Roll Call. This should be a great voyage.
  17. The front profile does look a bit busy but the overall look is classy. I like the profile, it looks sleek while not looking like a mega-ship. Thank goodness we don’t see an amusement park on top or swirly things hanging from the side either.
  18. Is that rust I see already? 😇
  19. For me, that call offered a very reasonable price for us to try QG for the first time. In Alaska, we’ll be off the ship for a good portion of the time so the QG dining is the difference maker for us.
  20. I feel like am listening to a golf tournament with the two commentators going on… QA looks pretty darn good!
  21. As mentioned, this is the first direct booking I’ve done with Cunard and it forced me to do lots of geeky research into booking options etc. I actually enjoyed the process. Maybe I’ll become a travel advisor when I retire…? Nah, just the travel part.
  22. Correct. I loved PG on QM2. Great space.
  23. The PG suite I walked away from was 5002, a larger and more square shaped cabin in the front of the ship. I was actually looking forward to checking that space out but this offer puts us in QG for the first time at a price I couldn’t refuse. Maybe Cunard wants us to spoil us with QG so we stay at that level going forward.
  24. The suite is the same size (484sf) but the bathroom looks bigger without a tub. The very “needed” shower is more open. There is also a ramp going to the balcony with still plenty of room for two loungers. I’m still on a “guaranteed” status but could be in the accessible suite. I just never heard of Cunard making upgrade calls, that’s my initial thought. Maybe those who book direct only get these calls?
  25. Funny, I too wanted to keep my PG cabin and checked off not allow upgrades and still got an upgrade call for the Q6.
