  1. Cheerleader here as I'm rooting for you!!📣🤸‍♀️
  2. Sounds right. Can you ask him to keep us updated on our status each AM so we know how to plan our days, 😆 🤣 lol.
  3. IMO your own would probably be more comfortable - the clamshells are not vented and get hot inside.
  4. Updated Daily for today's revised itinerary in Hilo. Looks like we're now scheduled to dock about 2pm. All Aboard is 10pm
  5. Oh drat, lol. In fairness, you delivered quite a lovely art catalog. 😊 In keeping with the theme of "how much can you ask for before the questions start flowing and the liquid stops" see how many butter refills you can get - does the amount of butter in each serving increase (an attempt to provide enough you stop asking for it) or decrease (conservation effort) and does it get softer (they leave the next bowl out in anticipation of your upcoming request) or harder (stays in fridge cuz they cycle through it so fast). Our dining table consumes what I can only imagine to be a record-setting amount of butter. I personally don't contribute to the impending butter shortage as I don't eat it, but it is a fascinating dance to watch.
  6. Yes, pack the ginger or your med of choice, maybe even a variety in case 1st thing doesn't work, something else may. GS will slso give you pills (no charge) if you do need something. They recommend eating a green apple 🍏 along w/sea sick pills; DH didn't (on a previous cruise) but when he kept getting sick he tried it and felt better, so highly recommend keeping a couple in your cabin. You can get them from room service or grab from Lido. When I saw how long the casino was going to be closed, I thought "oh, my" 🫣🙄 it has been strange walking through with it closed for so long. I wonder if they'll open it for a few hours today since port was canceled. 🤔
  7. I've sailed many times in cabins that hold 3 or 4 people when my original booking was only for 2.😏 Welcome to cruising ⛴️, welcome to CC and welcome to Carnival. You're one of us now!!🥳
  8. I would save the $140; if you've already budgeted for it, use it toward excursions, specialty dining (Teppanyaki is FABULOUS) or the spa. As you correctly surmised, you won't benefit from the early disembarkation b/c you have the transfer and no tender ports to use it, so other than dedicated line at GS, the only benefit is earlier boarding. You still don't select your arrival time until 14 days out (not 16). Welcome ro Carnival. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  9. 727am Captain is making an announcement the swell into the harbor (inside the port) is up to 35' making it too dangerous to get close to the north shore. Therefore today's stop in Maui is canceled. They have been able to secure an early stop into Hilo and make it an overnight. However, due to other ships in port, we cannot get in until 230pm. Shoreside security does not work all night, so we have to be onboard by 10pm; it will reopen 7am. We're coming out of the land shelter within the next hour and expect seas to get rougher after that.
  10. ETA for Kahului Maui is 8am All Aboard is 730pm; no Mama Mia! for me tonight as I have late dining Oddly, the spa closes early tonight, so likely no 2nd visit today Bow Cam view Aft Cam view
  11. Sooo sooo good! We do it both dinner and lunch. Teppanyaki is probably our favorite for specialty dining.
  12. Thanks for your kind words and for coming along for the ride. No cruise is perfect and I think the less drama I can add to it, the better it will be. If I wanted to sweat the little things, I'd stay home and go to work, lol. I have zero interest in paying $$ for a bad time, so I should do my part to help ensure it goes well. But things do happen...more on that later. How did you like the TA? That was also a first for me.
  13. Yes there were taxis right when you get off the ship. And there was the Hilo Hattie shuttle right there as well, but it stopped running at 3.
  14. Asked on another thread, I thought I would post answer here as well for anyone interested. Question was if the "secret" deck 14 is scooter friendly. Yes, it is! There's a ramp and an eye to open the door, so no need to push the button.
  15. I will be visiting Pearl Harbor today instead of a zoo. Bow cam view as seen from K'dam Aft Cam view
  16. Hey Ruth - happy to report a scooter can readily traverse across threshold on 14 - there is a ramp. Also, no need to push the button, there's an eye allowing door to automatically open. I didn't get a picture of it, but there are 2 sets of small steps leading to an elevated platform that are not accessible. Other than that, the rest is wide open. Enjoy!!
  17. We are waiting for clearance to go ashore. Trip to Shore Ex was not successful, says no openings on the other excursion, so I'm keeping what I had. No wind as reported by the K'dam flag. Views from Secret deck on 14.
  18. Happy to report, no further incidents, so I think we're all good. Bow Cam says it's still dark, but we should be there in about half hour.
  19. Thanks for coming along. Now, that would be a first - docking on dry land. I think they used to refer to that as "running aground. " 😉
