  1. You mean these? We saw plenty of them the 2 weeks we were on (9/16-29).
  2. Hey @AFS1970 during the BtF tour, the guide said they were still struggling w/the ventilation respective the casino. She said it just wasn't designed for these cruisers who smoke way more than the original cruisers. Her final comment, accompanied by a shoulder shrug was "it needs help." It was beyond horrible at times.
  3. Cabin Steward will gladly keep you supplied w/ice - we let some melt so we always had ice cold drinking water. You can, of course, have the bottles delivered to your cabin.
  4. I am looking forward to your Live Oct Rome review - please kindly share the link when you start revving up! I will also be cruising out of Rome late Oct w/a couple days on land prior (probably sleeping off jet lag, but hope to do more, lol) so am doubly interested in your review, tips and thoughts. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  5. FUN Italian Style or otherwise - Carnival wants you to be safe and so does someone else, apparently. Fun ship, indeed!! I thought of Pretty Woman https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/7c58da71-40f6-43a4-bba2-eb9ff907008e
  6. Let's see, I talked about the stellar airport shuttle experience, so how about a few peeks at airport art, courtesy of JFK. The airport was clean, restrooms well stocked. ZERO chargers post-security in Terminal 8. There are charging towers, but none work. Very few seats have power and most do not work. It's really bad - the airport needs to do something. If you aren't going to ensure the outlets are functional, then better to not have them. With so many canceled flights, having a charged phone to communicate changes was really important. Once we changed gates from around 38 down to 46, it was even worse. Ugh... Armrests don't fold up, so laying down was impossible - sleep was out. Light blanket was adequate tho, not too hot/cold. Wish I had a picture of the awesome pizza - $5.99 w/tax for a slice big enough for us to share. They stayed open til 11pm, so a good bite to eat was available. Yummy!!
  7. Such nice pictures - thanks for sharing them and allowing us to visit.
  8. Trying to wrap this up and get the final pictures posted; dragged out longer than I planned since I was so sick once home and working like a crazy person to get caught up with work. So, here we go. And apologies in advance if any are duplicates. Just squint w/1 eye and pretend you had a really great night and maybe aren't seeing quite right.. First up are pictures from private tour in Halifax. We went to Peggy's Cove, where we saw the viewing platform and paths to the lighthouse for the first time. They're new since our last visit pre-covid and are nice (if not controversial) additions. Thomas was playing the alphorn, which is such a lovely sound. Titanic cemetery - always called that, when in reality the Titanic markers are but a small portion of the Fairview Lawn Cemetery. And Swissair memorial site. This is not on any ship-sponsored excursion that I know of, but should not be missed. It's a beautiful place with a very well thought out marker. Happy to provide the contact info for Barry & Jim, the private guides, I used if anyone wants it - they were above top-notch.
  9. Do you have room in your suitcase for 1 stowaway? Congrats on booking; it sounds like an awesome itinerary.
  10. @Nickelpenny thanks for the reminder to wish Canadians Happy Thanksgiving!
  11. BtF (Behind the Fun) tours are very much alive and well...well attended, lol. Last week on Venezia cost was $130/pp. Sign up is at Shore Excursions desk. Sign up early as it is FCFS and even at $100+ it is very popular. Might be worth a call to Carnival to see if you can negotiate a group rate for the Girl Scouts. Yes, I realize the original post is old, but it's been resurrected and still applicable.
  12. Ooh, Roy - I would very much like to try the Rhubarb Tart a la mode!!
  13. Best to have the booking noted "no uograde" as there is no guarantee where the upgraded cabin might be located. And chances of getting back the original cabin should you not like the upgraded one are about non-existent. Upgraded cabin doesn't necessarily mean cabin type - it could simply be a location the cruiseline considers to be better. You will still receive paid "upsell" offers.
  14. Pictures coming into port final morning. At the time, we had no idea how bad the rain would get or how long it would last.
  15. That sounds so yummy - especially on a cool fall morning. 🤭 Just a little warm milk to smooth it out.
  16. I vaguely remember a random box somewhere, but always do mine by calling in. Then ask for a new invoice to confirm - it is noted on the invoice whether you book direct or w/TA. I had a TA try to talk me into not including "no upgrade" as a free upgrade was nice to receive. Uh, no thank you - I don't want Starboard mid-ship when our preferred cabin is true aft. 🫣
  17. Interesting collection of days - 1 important to TX Revolution, 1 should help lighten the mood & lift spirits and the other important for patients & medical providers. I can surely support medical care & caregivers. Reading is important - fairy tales or not. Pass on the meal, the drink sounds nice, DH would like the wine, not been to AU. Days in history should be remembered. 66° sunny, headed to 86°. I am thrilled to see a temp under 70!! And even a high under 90 is worth a smile given the summer we've had. No rain forecasted, but tomorrow's high is to be only 72° so that's still a win. So happy for Friday - I just want some 💤 😴 to see if I can shake this cough. Also need to unpack from cruise & repack for the next one - just don't feel like it, hoping feeling better will motivate me. No idea what clothes to pack, but will include Therabands for the shoulder. And will not overflow to a 2nd suitcase!! I'm sure I will feel worse about leaving the fur babies for another 2 weeks than they will being left behind. They travel w/us except for cruises, so leaving them is hard. Prayers and positive thoughts for all.
  18. Looking forward to reading about your experiences and impressions. Thanks for bringing us along.
  19. Welcome @firegal2539 to HAL!! I hope you continue to enjoy your cruise and come back for another.. and another... Thanks for bringing us along!
  20. You can have your booking noted as "no upgrade." That means that you will still receive paid "upsell" offers (which you can decline), but you will not be upgraded at no charge and moved to another cabin. I do this when I'm in a specific cabin or location (true aft, for example) and would not be happy with a different location. If you get moved via an upgrade and don't like the new one, you likely will not be able to get your original cabin back.
  21. HAL does not require paper boarding passes - you can use the e-pass from the Navigator App.
  22. If it provides peace of mind (and goes into recycling ♻️ bin) probably worth it for you. In terms of boarding, it is not needed - it is not reviewed at port as they look at nothing other than the docs for the dates of which you are boarding. You don't need it on Turnaround Day to get your new card - all they do is scan your current card.
  23. They brought it out to her cut up then she would mix in to eat. Usually, the bowl was so full, she'd have to eat it down some to fit banana in. 🤭
