  1. I do a lot of "no thanks" and keep moving, so I'm good at it, unlike my sister who feels the need to tell everyone why she's saying no, lol. The places I will strike off my list are the ones where they're overly aggressive, continue to pressure after you say no, or huddle together in groups in an attempt to separate members of my group. I'm okay scraping gum off the sole of my shoes, but draw the line at physically removing someone's arm from my shoulder. If I wanted an excursion to local drug houses, I'd save $$, stay home and go walk through South Side. Some "local immersion" I can pass on.
  2. I didn't notice any of that Feb in Turks, or the other 2 times I was there, but that doesn't mean it wasn't happening. Disappointing - I think Turks is very pretty and I really like it.
  3. Yes, but that requires reading. I can identify red from white (dark from light) cuz I showed up the day we learned colors, lol.
  4. Not been to St Kitts - and now striking it off the list. Thanks! Are the lizards also trained to pick pocket? You know, like the ones they put on your head in Cabo/Mazatlan/PV (don't remember which of the 3 so listing them all) to get you to pay for taking a picture? If do, thanks again for me removing another port from my list.
  5. I would never have thought to check for tape covering lights so now in addition to unpacking and ensuring my magnetic hooks are properly placed and the waste basket is moved from under the desk before I can "let the vacation begin," I now have to crawl around the cabin removing bits of tape. The list gets longer... And since I don't know where all they were installed, unless previous pax leaves a map, I'm sure I'll miss some.
  6. We had reservations for Steakhpuse and Teppanyaki (2 people each night per reservation, same cabin, B2B) and wanted to switch nights to take advantage of the free wine in steakhouse for first night each week. Called in, was told had to do it myself online and that the only option was to cancel and rebook. All good so long as no penalty and I would get refunded for the cancelations. "Yes, give it a few business days to process and you'll see a refund." If I used OBC to cover part of the charges,, will it be refunded back to the booking so I can use it again for something else Ok? "Yes, just allow about 72 hours and you'll see it." Ok, I'll do it. Canceled 2 nights (4 total dinners cuz 2 people) and made new reservations for both people both weeks (4 total dinners) for Steakhouse, see charge immediately pending on my card. Same for Teppanyaki - Canceled 2 nights & made new reservations and immediately saw pending charges on my CC. Added Il Viaggio for 2 nights, immediately saw those pending charges, as well. Waited a few days to check for the OBC and CC credits. I see $96 OBC on one booking (charge forc2 Steakhouse w/o 18% tips) and $10.32 OBC on the other booking). Receipt from original reservations has 18% tip charged on all of the reservations, so I paid it at time I reserved. 18 % on $96 is $17.28. What is $10.32? No additional OBC has shown up on either booking and calls to Carnival say it's been issued. So now we're out $118.68 in OBC and have paid twice for a couple dinners - how do I get it resolved and has anyone else experienced the same? Could I have simply moved the reservations once on board and still have gotten the wine the first night? That free wine has now become very expensive.
  7. So a person w/o a drink package enjoying cocktails w/friends during lunch decides to pick up the tab for the group. Each of the 5 has 3 beers - nice person is now done for the day being cut off from drinks until 6am the next day?!
  8. Have read several posts from cruisers who pack tape so they can cover up the motion activated night lights at the closets and restroom. So there are likely many that seem to not be working properly when in reality they're just taped over. Why do people think it's a good idea to do something for themselves (tape over lights) but not bother to undo it (pull the tape off) so the next passenger can have benefit of the space as intended?
  9. I've not been to Napa yet am able to discern red from white (and use big, fancee words, lol). I, too, prefer my wine be decanted -- into a glass, but would probably push the person next to me out of their chair to get a view of someone enjoying it straight from the decanter! Followed by the entire cheese sample🤭 Where's my invite?! I can't find my invitation to the wine tasting?!
  10. Nieuw Amsterdam Feb Explorations said to come up around 630am and they'd get us coffee early. We did it a couple times and were able to get served before 7.
  11. This!! From another thread, not my picture.
  12. No kiosks to print statements - been removed on all the ships I've been on since restart. Well, a few were still physically in place w/not available signs attached to them, so I assume those have also been removed by now. LOVE that I can access all the statements - now if I can just find the little button for a price override to get those same prices applied to today's bookings, lol.
  13. That has been my experience on all the B2B I've done. What has worked for me, as others on here mentioned, is go to spa at the very end of the 1st leg advising them you'll still be on next leg and ask to be put on the list. K'dam last Dec '22 was able to do that late in the day (after dinner) and the charge for the 2nd week showed up on my account that night. All I had to do Sat AM (turnaround day) was go get new sticker from spa once they "opened" the next leg. NA (Oct '22), NS (Feb '23) and Eurodam (May '23) all told me I had to wait until AM of turnaround day to get on the list & get new sticker. All 3 of those the charge showed up on the 2nd leg and sticker was secured before lunch. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  14. Seems to have been resolved on the ships I've been on this past year, but always good to check - every day. One other thing to note: is some ships, some venues, will ask if you have a drink package and if you don't they will discount your drink. I first noticed that at GDC on both K'dam and NS. Of course, they can see if you have a pkg or not, so not sure why they would ask (that's another question for a whole new thread, lol), but happy to have them ask to receive a discount.
  15. I wonder if that means it would be available to purchase on days when liquor is not? Can't buy liquor on Sundays where I live, but can buy wine. I would renew Costco membership if I could buy that on a Sunday.
  16. Perfect, thanks. I should have paid closer attention to notice there were both "change" and "cancel" options. I would have been hesitant to click "change" though thinking I would lose my current selection, so I deeply appreciate your response. The flights we got are considerably less than offered directly through airline at the time, but I'm now seeing prices (for other bookings) leaning the other way and wanted to check. As usual, CC Community to the rescue!!
  17. Thank you @Copper10-8 for the great pictures - very interesting to see. And thanks @Despegue and @chengkp75 for additional insights. This is all very interesting to see and comforting to hear the details of training involved. Never doubted it was done, just comforting to have it validated.
  18. I really do like those bags for port days. The outside mesh pockets are the perfect size for metal water bottle and sunglass case. And the bag holds a HAL beach towel yet is not so big that I feel like a pack mule.😊
  19. I am not able to check for flight changes once I booked flights. They aren't paid for yet, but do show in our booking. When I go into FE to search, my flights (with seat assignments) populate. If I want to search new ones, the only option is to cancel those and do a new search. How do you search without canceling the current ones?
  20. True - I see incredible deals for Australia cruises but the airfare is ridiculous! You are welcome to email me telizking at yahoo.com
  21. I reside in an area pretty well just the opposite - current population right at 400,000, no public transportation so zero experience negotiating trains, subways or buses, much less a combination of the 3. Last I knew, this is the largest city in America without public transport. Lovely...does tend to make the idea of traveling in places like NYC seem daunting and stressful.
