  1. That's great news! Lavazza makes for a great shot of espresso. Wonder if Lavazza will also be used for the brewed coffee machines in World Fresh Marketplace (Horizon Court) on Royal Class ships?
  2. Try again tomorrow using the desktop version of the app. My mom ordered some add-ons she was unaware of when ordering her Medallion, so she cancelled the order. The system took a day to refresh and she was able to place a new order. The Ocean Medallion shop works better using the desktop version through the Cruise Personalizer. If all else fails the Medallion App tech support should be able to help you. Call the Princess customer support line and follow the prompts to the Medallion App department.
  3. For me, the jetlag going from California to Europe isn't so bad. I call it an early night the first night I arrive and feel recharged the next morning. I totally agree with the posters above that you should consider spending some extra time to see the UK sights if you haven't done so in the past. Would definitely consider taking a few extra days off work when you get home. For me, that's when the real jetlag hits because the vacation excitement keeping your energy up is no longer there. Southampton is around 75 miles from central London, so plan accordingly. Crossing my fingers that the UK will be in better condition in 2024. Too many strikes going on right now.
  4. Duty Free shopping isn't what it used to be. All the department stores have sales that will discount most everything being sold onboard that's not Princess logo merchandise, including cosmetics and fragrances. (Macy's, for example, has 15% off cosmetics and fragrances every few months and you get a gift with purchase sometimes.) Costco and BevMo have better prices than the ship with their alcohol sales. Effy jewelry is overpriced for what you're getting; Effy, Princess, and the sales associate have to to make money and that cost is passed down to the purchaser. Aside from the logo merchandise, I don't really find worth shopping on the ship. You can buy the same stuff at home for the same price or cheaper and don't have to worry about lugging it home.
  5. The Owner's Suite is larger and still have the wrap around balcony. These suites are only on the Deck 8 and right above the Vista Lounge and the part of the balcony overlooks the aft public promenade on Deck 7. If noise bothers you, probably not a good idea to choose these.
  6. The medallions are manufactured and personalized in Asia then shipped to the USA using a freight forwarder. The freight forwarder then forwards them to the US Postal Service for final delivery. Most times they are sorted at the forwarder's facility in Carson, CA and New York. The exception are for Medallion orders placed late. These are usually shipped from Florida or Singapore via FedEx.
  7. Princess outsources the Bid to Upgrade program to a Canadian company, Plusgrade. Many airlines use their software and algorithms for cabin class upgrades on flights. It's kind of like eBay where Plusgrade is in charge of the auction process, but not for collecting payments.
  8. #1, just to clarify, is the light for the "walk-in closet" that is controlled by a motion sensor. #2, is the hallway light that is controlled by a switch by the door, next to the card slot which controls the power to the room.
  9. If just calling, Pier 35 is better because it's closer to the Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf tourist area. The problem is that it's just a warehouse, not a terminal. If doing a full turn, it doesn't help that you get dropped off at on the sidewalk, unlike Pier 27 where there's actually a staged pick-up/drop-off area. Port of SF can really only handle one ship at a time because of the Embarcadero--not really designed to handle a lot of traffic. @Cruise Raider I think the Port of SF's cruise schedule is wrong. The only ship Princess homeported to SF is the Crown Princess for Fall/Winter '23 (up until the end of Sept '24). The Ruby Princess moving to Fort Lauderdale at the end of '23 Alaska season out of SF. There's still a chance that the Crown Princess will be assigned Pier 27.
  10. Double check the cruise ship schedule and make sure there aren't 2 ships doing full turns on your embarkation day. If there are, plan on arriving earlier rather than later because of the traffic on the Embarcadero this causes. One ship will be berthed and Pier 27 and the other at Pier 35. It can be a 30 minute traffic jam to go a few blocks. Experienced this in Oct '23 when the Royal Princess and Ruby Princess were in town doing full turns on the same day.
  11. @dickinson You gotta remember, Princess' systems are functional, but not efficient. Sending good vibes your way and hoping this issue finally resolves itself.
  12. Bring masking tape or some sort of easy to remove tape (this part is key because you have to remember to take the tape off before you disembark without wrecking it) and put it over the sensor. The problem then becomes how to turn it on as the sensor activated hall light has no dedicated switch to operate it.
  13. The reservations made under this promo could/can be transferred/takenover by your TA. The two bookings I made certainly were. Future Cruise agent looked up my TA on the booking for the current sailing and asked me if I wanted to them to continue as my TA on the new booking being made. Anytime you make a booking on the ship using Future Sales onboard, your TA has 2 weeks from your disembarkation date to take over the booking if the Future Sales agent didn't already transfer over your TA's info to the new booking. It's best to call your TA when you get home to make sure that they are indeed listed on the new booking. If they are not, the TA can call Princess and takeover the booking. The one of the catches with this promo was that you had to make full payment on the spot, while still on the ship. This offer was not made available to bookings made on land and no courtesy holds.
  14. Was offered on my January 2023 cruise to Hawaii by future cruise sales onboard. It's a great sale and is 50% off the Princess Plus and Princess Premium packages too. Catch is sail by May 15, 2023; pay in full at time of booking onboard (not really a problem because most sailings were already past or approaching final payment); 100% non-refundable; can't be combined with the onboard FCD/OBC bounce back offer. Booked a cruise to Europe and a cruise to the Pacific Northwest. Worked out to be buy one get one free for the fare (for 2 people) and paid $30 (plus 18% gratuities) per day for the Princess Plus package. For solo travelers, like my one of my shipmates, the sale wiped out the single supplement so she took advantage and booked a balcony instead of the interior, which is her norm. I'm guessing Princess sailings for Spring 2023 were/are quite empty and they were using this offer to up occupancy.
  15. This is the link to Princess group bookings terms: https://www.princess.com/learn/cruise-gifts-celebrations/celebration-group-program/terms-and-conditions/ When taken advantage this before, I found the offerings to be complicated. All I can say is that it's worth it if you can scape up enough people to book at least 8 cabins.
  16. Sounds like you talked to MedallionApp support from the titles you stated. Those agents aren't given access to billing. Maybe try calling Princess' booking line and see if they can't help? It does take a few days for the refund to finally show up.
  17. The water on ships is highly treated with chlorine. (You can taste the chlorine from the water on tap when drunken lukewarm.) Not the best for your clothes because it causes fading. Learned this the hard way when I had no choice but to make use of the laundry services on a 30 day cruise. At least it was free because I was Elite. Same I assume would go for the self serve laundry mat because the water source is the same. My advise would be to bring clothes you wouldn't mind getting a little beat up, lighter colors instead of darker.
  18. You got it. I always book an the BF in a guarantee in hopes of an upgrade (location or meta) with the mentality of "beggars can't be choosers." Been pretty lucky to have at least a location upgrade from forward, but have gone up to to a full suite (on very rare occasion). Back in the day when I was tighter on money, I'd book IF and do every superstition in the books for luck. Not fussy at all with my location. As of late, the new bidding program is like booking a guarantee, where the cabin assignment, upon bid acceptance, is totally up to Princess. From what it sound like now, I have to book an BE guarantee in order to secure a refundable deposit.
  19. This change is probably being done as a deterrent. Non-refundable deposits would make people booking guarantee cabins think twice. With the new bid to upgrade program, Princess wants passengers to pay for their upgrades. If less guarantee bookings are made, Princess will get a more realistic view of of what cabins are available are usable for upgrade purposes--passengers already picked their cabins, therefore it's a safer assumption for them that the leftover cabins can be used for upgrades. From a profit standpoint, Princess would rather grant paid upgrades through bidding rather than free upgrades from guaranteed bookings. Also remember that Princess is desperate for money right now because of their pandemic debts. Things add up. If 100 people made $250 non-refundable deposits and cancelled, in total, those 100 people made an aggregate $25,000 donation to Princess. If this is the case for sailings going forward, I would only book a guarantee if it was already past final payment. With Royal Caribbean/Celebrity, refundable deposits cost more, but for the most part the non- refundable portion is credited back as a future cruise credit.
  20. You'll be assigned the leftover cabins in when you bid and your bid is accepted. Make a dummy booking on Princess' website and check which cabins are still available in the category you're bidding on. If you still see many midship cabins available, it might be worth a try to bid. The cabin assigned is supposed to be final after acceptance of bid, but not sure if calling into Princess afterwards, you'll be able to have your cabin reassigned in the upgraded category.
  21. EZair doesn't have contracted rates with all airlines on all flights in all booking classes. In your case EZair might not have a contracted business class rate with BA on your specific flights. Having flown BA business pre-pandemic, their business class fares are really high if you have to pay out of pocket and not use milage. Not saying you can't afford, but it might be why EZair doesn't have contracted business class rates on your flight route. You can re fare your flight in business class, but not on the exact same flights or airline. Almost all of the contracted business class fares with EZair are with US airlines (United, Delta, American), sometimes Lufthansa pops up, but BA is rare. Be careful because some of the flights will show codeshare flight numbers of a foreign airline but are actually operated by a US airlines. If you want to keep your flights with BA, the alternative would be to ask for a paid upgrade at check-in.
  22. Not defending the offender, but the cabin doors on ships are designed to slam shut because they are fire doors. Sorry to hear about your inconsiderate neighbors.
  23. Coffee bars in Italy prefer roasted beans that are older (but not stale) because the there is still too much oil present in newly roasted beans, which clogs the espresso machine.
  24. Unfortunately, that's not how mass market cruise lines work. It would be great to eat "locally" while sailing on Princess but it would a logistical nightmare for the ship. Let's face it, cruise ships stock food. It's a treat when Princess actually serves something provisioned from the local port. In this case, I would gladly take an espresso shot prepared with Lavazza or Illy over the sludge that the Nespresso capsule would produce.
  25. Princess fleet sails worldwide. If they were to stick to an exclusive coffee brand, like Royal Caribbean has done with Starbucks and Lavazza, they would have to choose a brand that they could source and provision their ships with worldwide. While I agree there are some better niche coffee roasters, it wouldn't be feasible to partner with them if the supply couldn't get to the ships.
