  1. Sharon, we've all been knocked down by something here, too -- even though we all had flu shot. Ours is scratchy throat, cough, headaches, body aches and all had cold sores. Go figure. No fever. It seems to last three or four days. TMI, and yours may be different, but just heads up for all that there's stuff going around that's not covid and not stopped by flu shot. Stay healthy everyone.
  2. Amazing good fortune for the 14 and what an experience to be onboard during such a rescue! I can't even imagine the range of emotions of those 14. Thanks for the thread, @oakridger.
  3. That’s great news @Quartzsite CruiserLenda! Wishing all a good night’s rest! 😌
  4. @Quartzsite CruiserLenda, our prayers are with you and your Steve and his medical team. Such an unexpected setback!
  5. We were just ahead of you on the NA Panama Canal cruise and we also had a band in Ocean Bar every night -- sometimes three people, usually four. Our dining options sound similar to yours as well. So differences perhaps based on length of cruise and itineraries. I do wish the MDR could calm down a bit, though. It's just gotten very hectic, in my opinion.
  6. Good morning! Off to the farmers’ market today. We’ll be in Invergorden next year. We spent a night in Inverness about 30 years ago. Love the area. Stay safe and well.
  7. Well, heck...maybe it's Barcelona and not the "Disaterdam." When DD and DSIL were there pre-cruise for their honeymoon in 2017, they were on Las Ramblas when the terrorist drove through the crowd. They ended up hiding in a store and then running through side streets to get back to their hotel. DD makes detailed itineraries, so I knew they were there at that time. You can imagine the worry. The cruise was great, though. Hang in there!
  8. I really like that letter. Thanks for sharing it here. DH and I just completed a sailing on the NA, and definitely did notice cutbacks from when we sailed right after the post-pandemic startup. Those cruises were pretty lavish. Our take on it is that the cuts now have been distributed throughout the ship, in a judicious way, so that nothing is too painful. For the first time ever, I didn't even fill out the survey after the cruise, because touching on all these little details right now, in this economy...just not in the mood to do that.
  9. That's interesting, Lenda, that your father did go ahead and plan that way on his own. As you say, hopefully out of sight and out of mind for many, many years. Our "selection" was probably the quickest transaction we've ever done -- just get it over with kind of thing. Not an enjoyable real estate acquisition! We also considered purchasing additional plots, but that was just too depressing -- finally decided we'd just be first in "the neighborhood," and maybe others would be there, too, some day. DH and I are both glad we sorted this out.
  10. Jeez...kinda morbid days today. But in that spirit, DH and I recently purchased a delightful forever home for the two of us at the local cemetery. We didn't like how things were handled with lost family members in the past several years, so decided to make our own plans. Today is a quiet day. Yesterday we took DGD to the Wild Animal Park in the morning and had her "Princess Party" here in the evening. Long day, but fun. A relaxing Old-Fashioned could be in order later on. Thanks, Rich, and all Contributors here on the Daily. Thoughts are with those having difficulties and a tip of the glass for those enjoying good times.
  11. It's quick. We've used Uber many times post-cruise in San Diego. It's easy to find where to go to wait as you exit the cruise terminal.
  12. @kazu, unreal. Just simply unreal. Hopefully this will be just a quick blip in an otherwise great trip. Sprains sometimes do heal quickly, even when terribly painful to begin with. Sure do hope this is the case for you. 🙏
  13. I don't know about the new Friday cannelloni, but I recall the old menu having cannelloni -- or perhaps as a "special" -- and it was really good. So maybe this new Friday night special will also be good. For those who like veal cannelloni. I do like it.
  14. On our recent NA cruise, we found happy hour was a mob scene, MDR really full, and on each of our three dinners in PG, many tables available. So maybe not too many are signing on to HIA?? In any case, it was a great cruise. Times are tough and there were little cutbacks and some upcharges throughout the ship. Kind of to be expected. I guess if it gets intolerable, we'll quit booking. That hasn't happened yet.
  15. @ger_77....unbelievable about the flight. That's more than frustrating. Dang I hope it all works out well for you, and big time food for thought for the rest of us. Seems as if no good stories are coming out of Flight Ease these days.
  16. It's a very tough disease. My mom was diagnosed in her twenties and by the time the new medications came around, there was already too much damage done. I'm glad to hear that you got that good joint protection.
  17. @Sharon in AZ, I keep thinking about you and Terry and Vanessa, and others with inflammatory conditions. My mom had very early onset RA and it was tough. I hesitate to sound like the California crackpot, but DH and I really notice a difference in our joints when we avoid nightshades -- tomatoes, peppers, eggplant. My mom would never experiment with an anti-inflammatory diet, but I wish she would have given it a try. Anyhow, I'm definitely not minimizing the need for "big gun" medications. My poor mom really had a time of it. I think of that often with @smitty34877taking care of Tana, all the while having RA.
  18. Condolences to you and your family, Ann. I remember you speaking about how close the cousins are in your family. It will be nice for the family to get together to celebrate Vicki's life. Maxine
  19. Good morning. Up early today because of working on my checklist. We have DGD's upcoming birthday party and all holidays -- Thanksgiving, Xmas Eve, and Xmas Day -- at our house this year. Lists and more lists. Nope to candy corn and tilapia. Yes to everything else -- though it's doubtful we'd ever have all the ingredients for the Haku Cocktail. 🍸 Wishing everyone a good day today. DH is pretty pumped up because he won a tournament at Torrey Pines. He also won his senior division at our club this year, so this has been a good golf year for him. Happy husband, happy wife. 😊 Thanks once again to all our contributors here and thinking of those who are experiencing difficulties. Many are out traveling again, but we have here many with struggles. Praying that all have a pleasant day.
