  1. The last I recall from discussion on here, was that you paid your $14.99 medallion room service charge and provided you used the app and not the phone, delivery would be free. However we received an email from Princess which seems to say differently. Can anyone confirm definitively, if each delivery does indeed incur a $5 charge?
  2. I have today been caught with the same problem. Not happy. A refusal by Cunard to add OBC. The travel agent made no mention of my booking not being valid, in fact, they gave me the email address information to submit the obc application, so they clearly expected it to be paid. I suspect this is a clampdown by Cunard, probably always in their terms but only recently being applied. I will certainly question the rates in the future, because the obc shareholder credit may well outweigh any discount given by agent. As an aside, one for the travel agents, how are customers supposed to know what fare rate they have been sold …
  3. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reply. I agree that aft cabins would be best, but unfortunately a few other people had the same idea and they are all sold! We currently have an aft side cabin on deck 10, where all the available cabins seem to be. Why is that, what have I missed? The equivalent cabin on starboard is also available so I could switch. Things to think about!
  4. We have booked the 11 day Alaska cruise going next May ex San Francisco. I read that the best side for the glacier would be port. But looking more closely at the sailing, the ship goes North via the Inside passage and returns in the open sea. Should I change to starboard? Never sailed Alaska before and unlikely to do so again so trying to get the best experience. We booked direct so will Princess allow a change of cabin number if it’s the same grade ?
  5. Just to add the cruises are round trip from San Francisco, as we fly in there and will be doing a National Parks roadtrip after the cruise.
  6. We are planning our first Alaska cruise for next May. We have three similar itineraries and two ships. There are four common ports, but the fifth varies by itinerary. Itinerary 1. Crown Princess, calling at Victoria and cruising Glacier Bay Itinerary 2. Crown Princess calling at Victoria and cruising Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier Itinerary 3. Ruby Princess calling at Prince Rupert and cruising Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. We appreciate any feedback on which itinerary and ship you would choose and why. Thanks
  7. I am in the U.K. I have transferred a cruise before. However the new cruise will need to be of a higher value for the cruise line to consider it and there will most likely be an admin fee. It’s all at their discretion unfortunately and post Covid, their view may have hardened.Good luck!
  8. That’s worrying about the smokers. Unfortunately those are the only two cabins available to book..
  9. We are doing a cruise on Sky and have a choice of penthouse suite, either d727 or B735. They both appear to have great balconies so we are stuck knowing which to choose.any thoughts on how to decide? One thought is whether they both have the same shade and are they both overlooked? Are the cabins themselves the same size? Many thanks everyone.
  10. Where will I find the bid option please? I am assuming PIF is paid in full? But I booked through a U.K. agent if that make a difference
  11. Does everyone get the offer to bid on an upgrade? We cruise in November and I see that people have already made bids for cruises that month. We are in the U.K. if that makes a difference and our cabin is marked ' no upgrades'.
  12. Re the adventure tours Antigua, did they pick you up at the ship and was it early? Thanks
  13. We are also on this cruise. We have done one previous transatlantic at this time of year and from leaving the Azores, we had lovely warm weather. So we've ordered the same again for this year!
  14. Still none the wiser. Is it an immersive film experience like at Disney?
  15. What also needs to figure in the equation is OBC. Without a drinks package, you have the option to spend your OBC on beverages. With a drinks package with all its associated benefits, where does the OBC go? In to the retail outlets, thus boosting on board spending and improving profits again. A double win for Princess.
  16. The day that I cannot select my cabin number will be the day that I stop cruising. No-one puts this baby in the corner!
  17. I rarely use apps so apologies for a dumb question. If I want room service, then I can pay one off fee to use the medallion app to order. But does this mean I also have to buy internet access to be able to use the app? I’m travelling from UK and don’t normally use my phone on a transatlantic crossing to avoid inadvertently incurring roaming charges. So, if my phone is switched on but roaming and data are switched off, does the app still work.
  18. You guys across the pond have had it too good for far too long. Here in the U.K., we never get refundable deposits, whatever type of booking we make. Welcome to our world!
  19. According to Princess, tips are distributed fleet wide so removing them on your one cruise will actually have very little impact. However removing them and distributing cash to your room steward and waiters directly, can benefit the individual staff. I don’t know how it works on Princess but the one time it was explained to me by a room steward on another line, they are guaranteed a minimum wage, made up of basic salary and an amount for expected tips. If the tips don’t materialise the employee still gets paid as if tips were received. So if you remove the automatic gratuity and then tip them directly it’s a win win. Buts that’s for another discussion!
  20. You know that both people in the cabin have to buy the package? Not so good if one of you doesn’t drink !
  21. There’s a lot of talk about switching out the mini bar. Could someone talk me through what is provided in the set up to start with and then how the swop out works. Is there like an equation for it, where one can of Coke is worth say 2 bottles of water?
  22. That doesn’t seem to be the general consensus here though. Does this say that if, as a standard package guest, I pay the $14.95 access fee, and order room service via the app, then deliveries to my room are free? Other posts have said that your stateroom is excluded as a location. Now I am totally confused. Edited to say that replies posted as I was typing this appear to confirm free RS if $14.95 paid. Can just one person in the cabin pay this, then order for both I wonder
  23. But it’s not that simple in the short term. Yes people can consider alternative cruise lines for future bookings, but what choices do you have if you have already booked and paid. Seems to me that Princess should have applied changes only to new bookings and bookings where passengers could, if they chose, get a refund of their deposit. What sits so badly is changing the goal posts after you have no option but to take the cruise. It’s deception on a corporate scale, because these plans will have been discussed for months. Why do you think they increased the cost of Plus and premier packages? Because they knew these changes were planned. Don't treat your customer base as fools, it always ends badly.
  24. So are there no waiters wandering around to take orders at the venues any more?. Sorry if I sound ignorant but haven’t cruised with Princess for over 10 years.
