  1. Base it on the per-diem cost if trying to compare value. EDGE class is HOT... you will pay for the privilege.
  2. That's essentially the price of a balcony today.
  3. It's the Belmond La Samanna Resort (I did supply you the link) I "caved" in that I didn't want to spend that much. Also decided to book w/Seabourn for logistical reasons as it was pretty much a $wash booking via anyone else.
  4. I caved in and went with the Seabourn "Hotel" in St. Martin. https://www.seabourn.com/en_US/pre-post-travel-cruise/hotels.html Not happy on spending more on one night in the hotel than one night on the ship but it's a special event for us. Hopefully some of the included amenities will make up for the high $$$ SEABOURN’S HOTEL PROGRAM INCLUDES One or more nights’ hotel accommodation Full breakfast Applicable taxes (including V.A.T. and G.S.T.) and bellman gratuities Porterage Private Car Transfer between airport, hotel and ship
  5. I must count myself lucky as I've never experienced "Bluetooth speakers" by the pool. Doesn't sound pleasant at all 😲
  6. Looking forward to ours. Regarding SUN exposure... that all depends on the time of day (year), direction the ship is travelling, hemisphere, etc.
  7. Why the past tense... Thought they still did?
  8. And "Crickets" from everyone else as they also thought it was a silly question :-)
  9. Not defending the high beverage prices BUT we're spending LESS today on the actual cruise fare than back in 1996 :-0
  10. I do both to be sure and have all eventualities covered... printing a one sheet TA "per person" isn't painful
  11. I gave up on Cruise Line math 15-years ago... It is what it is 😉
  12. There is a Cabana Food menu. Usually available where you book the Cabana or Google it.
  13. By definition & design, Celebrity is a "Higher End" product offering compared to Royal. They mostly transfer your status over so why not give it a try... "what have you got to lose?"
  14. Why is this even a question?
  15. But paying $40.00 per person (for nothing) is still required to protect the population from COVID. 😕
  16. I agree w/you BUT it's typical of all the cruise lines these days. They complain of insufficient staffing levels yet insist on filling the ships (often at huge, last-minute discounts) with service & staff suffering the ramifications! Higher fares & an inferior experience is not a recipe for success.
  17. I thought the $40.00 per/person fee replaced COVID vaccination & health protocols? You know... "Keeping the Bermudan population safe" LOL 😜
  18. Might be break-even OR even cheaper to go a la carte then
  19. The bottles of wine you intend to buy & bring back to the ship will, in most cases, be confiscated and returned to you at disembarkation. Notable exception is Seabourn & some of the other "Luxury" cruise lines.
  20. I've seen these "materials" as well which is why I'm expecting TWO caviar in the surf and marina days (weather permitting of course) on the 14-day variant (two, 7-day sailings)
  21. Bet you we will still get several daily "Junk-Mail" pieces regarding Spa Specials & Gold by the Inch 😞
  22. Making it even more evident that, it always was & will forever be, ABOUT THE MONEY!
  23. I'm on a "similar" 14-night (2x 7-night) sailing as well. There is "sporadic" evidence that Saline Bay, Mayreau also features Caviar in the Surf for those only doing the 7-night. Additionally, I've read they sometimes do a Marina Day when at Saline Bay as well :-)
  24. Self-inflicted "wound" by Bermudan Government. I don't feel sorry for them ONE BIT!
  25. Yea, I don't get it either 😕 Last time I checked the cruise lines were for profit companies NOT charities.
