  1. Yes, my family members are Elite .I just know they told me April 1st is their party at 7 PM. Haven’t really heard much about the cruise from them. Was hoping to get some patters, but that hasn’t happened. Yes ,I think there are quite a few captains circle parties, depending on what level you are at. I don’t have much information other than what pertains to them.
  2. I believe that least expensive room they can get for this 30 day cruise for a solo is $1624+ taxes, etc. ( I believe at this point it’s guarantee rooms only )If I had 30 days to be away ,it would be enticing to me as well. I’ve never cruised solo. Don’t know if I would ,I’m very social. But I would think the Flights to and from would cost more than the cruise itself ,but I say go for it to the OP . Can always go up or down a deck to get outside. Lots of people like the interior cabins -they can sleep longer because it’s dark and of course they like the interior room because then they can do other things with their money. Hope the OP lets us know if they booked or not. Definitely sounds like a great price.
  3. @Mrcruiser you must have “ hit” the rush in parking at San Pedro last year. I have parked there and been dropped off numerous times and very easy. Who knows what the port will do as far as the parking lot ,but I think it’s working the way it is .so I doubt that they would build a parking structure at this point, but they don’t usually share that information with us cruisers too far in advance. Try it again and cruise & park from berth 92/93.( world cruise terminal) parking lot is plentiful even with 2 ships in and out over the course of a week or two.
  4. April 1st is the Capains circle parties. No formal dress that evening ,smart casual. A few “ kids” onboard, even though this is a two weeks cruise some school-age children are off for two weeks from school, some are homeschooled, etc. My family has not visited the casual dining venues that are included in their plus ,so I can’t comment on any of that. They said Honolulu is warm, but not too hot and they are just winging it today and walking with no agenda. Just enjoying the day. .
  5. @Mintycake I see Gastropub and Vines on the deck plans,so this may be the only casual dining onboard. I have family members onboard now , I’ll try to see if they can give me an answer ,but who knows ,they’re probably having way too much fun on their vacation. Maybe planks and steamers too?
  6. I don’t have much to add…. Monday ,March 25th in Explorers lounge was a show/ event called Living Battle. Trivia type game. Family said it was ok. I don’t know if it was during the daytime or the evening. Maybe more onboard will add to this thread??
  7. Yes, I know. Merely pointing it out to @Mark_K they were asking if they had to wear long pants at lunch in the dining room.
  8. Don’t need long pants in the dining room for breakfast or lunch .dinner in the dining rooms -Long pants for men are probably what you should wear, but who knows nowadays …
  9. From family-Difficult to find seats at Explorers Lounge, lots going on there. Have found seats in theater no problem. Ship seems full & pretty crowded. Cool out as expected, lots out sunbathing though. @LawDog61 thanks for your Live. Hope more join in. I only have what to report from Family onboard and that’s it. Don’t have the Patters/ Event listings or anything of that sort.
  10. The Emerald Princess left San Pedro on March 21 at approximately 3 PM and March 22 through March 25 sea days. March 26 Honolulu March 27 Kauai March 28 Kona March 29 Hilo March 30 through 3 April at sea April 4 Ensenada and April 5 back to San Pedro. Just a little background- I have Family onboard and just receiving periodic updates. I did not see any other cruise critic members starting a live from ,so since this is my thread, I don’t have much to add, except for when I hear from the family member, so not really going to answer questions. If you are onboard Emerald, please add to this thread. To prepare for the three hour time difference from California to Hawaii on March 21/22nd they set the clocks back one hour ,on the 23rd to the 24th they set the clocks back one hour and tonight the 25th to the 26th same thing. Saturday - March 23rd was first formal night and Rock Opera production show in the theater. Friday night the 22nd seas were quite rough and continued during the day on Saturday. Ship was rocking pretty good and difficult to walk around the ship for my family members who have cruised often & are in pretty good shape physically,so chill day for them. Sunday, March 24th seas much calmer. They were able to find one of their favorite dinner/ D.R. Waiter so they are set up in their section. Also in Crown Grill they were able to see another favorite crew member.
  11. In my opinion you have a case, similar to my friend who was on Princess, but incident happened in theater. Similar -dim light before show started, etc. they definitely took an incident report, they definitely looked at her shoes, etc. etc. and she contacted a Maritime lawyer and was compensated ,so don’t discount a case. She was hospitalized for several days to a week or so.(I don’t remember the specifics) once they got to port after a long sea day . She was on pain meds & in ship’s medical center until getting to hospital in CA. Port. Good luck on the apology and on board credit, assuming you are still on board -it sounds. So I hope you receive both of those. That is good that you have pictures and videos.
  12. @cruisepest depends on what you want to do ,but there are maritime lawyers that will help you start a case ,if that’s what you would like to do. If you think Princess was negligent, you’ve probably got a case. A friend lived in Arizona and they were on a Princess cruise that was cruising California coast and she had a claim with a California Martime lawyer, so…
  13. I think the author/ op is in a Reserve mini and that would be M1 category? Dolphin deck. So definitely not on back of ship on dolphin deck. perhaps all questions answered for op on cabin? I know when cruisers don’t give us all the information for whatever reason people start going off on tangents. I know we’re just all trying to be helpful. But sometimes you don’t want to give personal information like cabin number.
  14. @Mousear1 Alfredo’s and Vines on deck 5 would be your casual dining options if you have the plus cruise package.
  15. The Rose drink at $20. Is in a very lovely glass. I hope whoever ordered this -that the drink was good as well. Love the presentation.. I know you don’t get the glass to keep but if they offered them for sale, I am sure that they would probably go like “hotcakes”.
  16. @IUSteve here’s a Time on The Sun currently in The Patter. @CanadianBurger has a great Live thread, perhaps you could look there for the patter in the ports you desire for your DIY excursion. I know you say you only want experienced answers, but right now the Sun Princess is only on their second voyage.
  17. Nice information for Horizons D.R., a classic/ traditional way to dine. so for those looking to dine the “ old” way -try The Sun Princess. At least for now there is a 5pm seating & a 7:30 pm.
  18. I would think you could arrive at Port Everglades around 9:30 AM /10 AM & start the process for dropping luggage off, going through security , getting medallions, etc. Might be on board by 11 /1130am, maybe sooner?? depending on when they clear out the ship from the previous passengers. And then maybe you could go and reserve your sanctuary spot?
  19. @CanadianBurger great photos and descriptions, thanks. Following along . I am enjoying your Live from.
  20. @CPs4591 2. Upgrade bid may or may not be a desirable location on ship, if it doesn’t matter to you on location, you may bid. For example, it depends on what category mini suite you have. There are many categories, and they consider each one an upgrade. 3. Medallions ship/ receive about 2-3 weeks prior to embarkation 5. yes you can make speciality dining reservations on app 6.The Sanctuary - just for adults A luxurious spa-inspired top deck retreat, reserved just for adults. The Sanctuary features plush lounge furniture, attentive Serenity Steward service, soothing music, refreshing beverages and spa fare, and even an open-air massage in your own private cabana! Nominal fee applies. Venues vary by ship and are subject to change. 7. usually 1 dining room is open midship for breakfast & lunch. No reservation, just show up during the time listed in app or the printed version- The Patter International cafe has breakfast ,lunch, dinner items, but not many seats and you order at counter. Open 24/7 Usually. princess.com has information too. FAQ’s and deck plans, dining, entertainment, etc.
  21. @Debra Dincan. Welcome to cruise critic & your first post. There are so so many dress code topics/ threads. Just use the search feature top right of page( magnifying glass- symbol.) go to Princess.com to search dress code. so many opinions on how to dress in the dining rooms in the evening.
  22. Price on Discovery Princess recently.
  23. The sea & shore entree includes a lobster tail for the price of dining,no up charge.
  24. yes, but op says specifically leaving 1 bag out the night before by the cabin and doing/thinking of walk off with their 2 carry ons. Oh well, I do think author is onboard a ship right now & …… so probably too late for advice and should inquire at guest services.
