Yesterday was my grandson’s last, regular season football game. They won 38-14. Next Saturday is the championship game. They are playing a team they beat in the regular season, so he is hoping for a repeat.

I know we will not do Hideaway on the sailing the grandkids are along, but even those prices are twice what you are getting. Here are some of those other crazy prices.

We picked up enough of the full size candy so we would have 500 pieces to distribute at our house and our daughter’s house. This wasn’t all of it, because Sam’s Club didn’t have Swedish Fish.. We never have any leftover candy, because we tell some of the kids to come back at the end of trick or treat hours, and they get what is left.

My next two that go there are $206.99 and $286.99 per person for the beach club day pass. Not going to happen with those crazy prices.

They did have a story on our news, that they were expediting the process in Israel so it would not take so long. Still a much longer process, and more training than we have here. I don’t think I know anyone who doesn’t have at least one gun.

Those are in the timed stops. Rest areas are good places to change drivers. Usually every 1.5 to 2 hours. I always say, “Plan accordingly”, and don’t have the big coffee.

Kids are all back in school by then, and family vacation travel should be over also. Nothing wrong with planning. I have a spreadsheet with our stops along our drive. I don’t mean just where we are stopping for the night. I mean number of miles and travel time to each rest stop, fuel stop, and lunch stop. Plus I usually research the gas prices where we will stop and factor that in. You know, some of those states have higher gas prices than others. Just like this morning, our gas stop in WV is currently at $3.50/gal, and in NC it is $3.00/gal. I do leave room to be flexible though. I must admit that Susan and I make a good driving team. I do plan it so she doesn’t have to drive in any of the major cities along the route..

You don’t want them spending more than $16.91 per person, per day on food do you? Me, borrowing that number from CC’s #1 bean counter, @harryfat1 in his recent report on Navigator.

That’s right. We drive right by you almost, if you are off 81. We usually make Elkin, NC as our stop for our first day going south. Nice hotel there, nice seafood restaurant, and we make it early enough to hike a trail in Elkin to get our daily exercise.

We are in the sticks, north of Pittsburgh. Far enough to be in that dreaded Lake Effect snow zone.

So when is the normal snowbird migration south? We are starting our drive on December 13, and should be going through the narrow I-26 portion on the 14th.

It was either last year, or the year before that Waze routed us that way because of the stop and go traffic, with maybe a wreck or two to add to the mix. Maybe we will miss it since we are going down earlier this year.

I did see Greg wander through a couple times. What time were they all going to wave at the webcam?

Yes, I hate that I-26 portion. If traffic is bad, it can really slow things down. I think most of the mountains and curves are north of Beckley, WV.
