The news had some reporting from Matlacha, showing that they lost that bridge too. You had to cross it to get to Pine Island, which is where St. James City is. When my parents were alive, they had a place on Pine Island. This bridge is not as big as the one to Sanibel, but replacing bridges will take some time. I would think they may bring in temporary bridges so people have access.

My laughing at a funeral story. Several years ago, one of our good friend’s dad, Jack, passed away, and we went to his memorial service. Jack had been cremated, and his ashes were in a very ornate box, that was at the alter in the church. It was then that Susan saw the box, and she leaned over to me, and in a not so quiet voice said “ Is that Jack in the Box?” Of course, everyone around us heard and started chuckling.

The suspension bridge park looks like a great place to visit. I could see us going there. -
Since I have not posted much lately, how about a vehicle related story? It involves things I didn’t know about or even thought about. We started noticing a funky smell in one of our Toyota SUVs. At first, I thought maybe one of the grandkids spilled something, but there were no obvious signs of a spill. In the process of cleaning, I pull out the weather tech mats, and one is wet, on the underside. So now I am thinking, how could they make a spill and not get any IN the mat? In the commercials everything ends up there, and not in the carpet. Well, the carpet was soaked, but where was it coming from? It turns out, it was from clogged sun roof drains. I never even thought about there being drains for the sunroof, let alone them getting clogged. I mean, we rarely even open our sunroof, unless it is to let our granddaughter climb out it to the roof to be patriotic. How much rain or debris can find it’s way in. When I opened the sunroof and looked in the corners, they are filled with water since it isn’t draining, and the water in the drains was finding its way to the floor and soaking the carpet. In the Toyotas they route these drains through the “A” pillars and “B” pillars. I can’t believe how much junk I got out of the drain and where it outlets. Another problem solved, but I would have to question why Toyota would route their drains where they do. So a word to the wise, check your drains. It took me a couple days lifting carpet, running fans and dehumidifier to dry it out. I assume all makes have some kind of drain. Now I know. Of course, in Florida today, I think a lot of cars will end up with soaked carpet, and this will probably not be the cause.

I hope it is nothing serious, and you can get it resolved before the next cruise. -
If it is Monday, it must be baby back rib day. Time to prep and slow cook them for supper tonight. Grandson says that it is his favorite meal. That is the first of a couple racks. Then to season them. I can’t believe we got them for less than $3 a pound, and they have a lot of meat to them. This is the time of year for bulk trash pickup. I am always amazed at how much stuff people set out for pickup, and how many people scavenge the piles for things they want to repurpose. We never have anything, because we get rid of things right away. This is one thing we jut put out at our daughter’s house. One owner, but don’t check the crash history. The little lady that had this one crashed often.

Today, we dodged rainstorms all day. We were lucky that the sun came out for the football game our granddaughter was cheering at. Their team won 40-20. Just at the end of the game, the storm clouds rolled in. And we saw this….. IMG_5966.MOV They were on a heading toward Sue’s house. I am thinking maybe Rick read some of the things she has been saying about him, and he called in some strike teams. 🤣

A few pictures from the party yesterday. First, the important stuff like cupcakes. These were delicious. My favorite was the chocolate/ peanut butter ones. Son-in-law lined a small football field in the back yard, so the kids could all play some football theme games. They staged everything in their garage, and under a canopy we took over. Great idea to keep the mess out of the house. The kids, and all the adults had a great time.

Pretty full day for us yesterday. We went to our daughter’s house early, to help set things up for the football themed party for our grandson. Although his birthday was last Thursday, the party was yesterday. He had a morning football game, and he did outstanding. He has quite an arm, and is accurate. 18 completions on 21 tries, but one interception. His nicest was a 35 yard completion to the end zone as time expired. They won 30-14. He was especially happy, because they were playing the top team. That, plus he is playing in the next age division up from where he should be, so a lot of older and bigger kids. His team is kind of a Bad News Bears team made up of kids that didn’t get picked for the other teams. Now, they are the team to beat, since they are undefeated. He is having a lot of fun, as are his team mates. More on the party later.
