  1. Hearing aids have microphones in them. That is part of how they work. Heck, even my wife’s Apple Watch can be used to answer calls and talk to people, whenever she is not near her phone. Reminds me of Dick Tracy when she has her wrist up to her mouth, and she is taking to the watch.
  2. Kind of gloomy here today too. Our leaf colors are supposed to peak this weekend, but heavy rain and wind brought a bunch down last night. If the sun was out, the color would pop more.
  3. I think views depend a lot on the itinerary and the ship. The more unique it is, it would probably generate more views. I think if John were to do one for his world cruise, the views would be off the charts. I think the most views any of my trip reports got was around 105k for the sailing round trip to Hawaii on the Grand Princess. That report was still getting comments 3 years after it started. We did most of the highlights in Rome from a cruise. It was definitely a long day, but we had some entries that would skip the line. It would have been nice to spend more time there. That sounds like us, but we were only 3 years younger.
  4. Time for a strange things I have seen in the last couple days story. Strange thing #1- We were driving home on the interstate on Monday, and saw a pickup truck with a utility trailer stopped along the shoulder. The guy had evidently failed the “secure your load” class, because his brand new refrigerator was laying on it’s side in the trailer, and he was picking up pieces. I am sure he was regretting not getting to $40 delivery fee. I would not want to be him when he got home and his wife saw that! Strange thing #2- I had to pick up some supplies for equipment maintenance, and drop them at my house. On my way from there, back to my daughter’s house, I see a lot of flashing lights along the road, about 1/4 mile from our place. Five police cars and three wildlife officer cars, and everyone is out, with their rifles drawn. So, either they spotted the black bear that has been roaming, or they were going after a poacher. Not so strange thing from this morning. I saw these guys. They were either chasing a couple chickens, because they had a question for them, or they heard it is getting closer to Thanksgiving. Anyhow, they were hurrying across the road.
  5. Thank you, Dani. We are aware of the foundation, and we are learning more each day. Thank you for thinking of us. Your prayers, and those from our friends here, are greatly appreciated. +1 @BonTexasNY
  6. We drive to Florida every year. We did it a couple times doing 10-11 hour days, and it was just too tiring and stressful. (Heck, in our younger days we would drive 23 hours straight) Now, we go no more than 450 miles in one day, switching drivers every 100-120 miles. It is much more relaxing that way.
  7. @LucasLikesToCruise I just wanted to add my thoughts to all those others that have been expressed here. It is difficult. My thoughts are with you. Your mom’s cancer is the same type my daughter is fighting right now.
  8. It looks like you had perfect weather for your helicopter tour. Great pictures and video. When I did a tour, years ago, they set us down on one of those beaches along the Nāpali Coast. I wonder if any of the tours do that anymore? It looks like you had both doors off for the flight.
  9. The one thing I like about Princess, for longer sailings, is the self service laundry.
  10. The helicopter tour in Kauai was the highlight of one of my early trips there. I went through several rolls of Kodachrome. Now you know how long ago that was. Enjoy that flight. It will be amazing.
  11. Leave yourself some extra time, just for that. Build it into your schedule. Susan rushed me out when we stopped at one in Florida. Said we had a schedule to keep. 🤣
  12. Susan and the grandkids stayed at our house. I went back and stayed at the hotel, because I had to get up early to take our daughter. That way I wouldn’t disturb them getting ready. I think their plan is yo go have breakfast at the hotel and swim this morning. There is a pretty good breakfast there. I am glad I could grab some food for the road.
  13. We picked up the grandkids yesterday. Cookies were made, but they will be icing and decorating them today. No school for them today. Columbus Day holiday. We booked a hotel room for the night, so they could enjoy some indoor pool and hot tub time. Had the pool all to ourselves last night, and they will be doing more swimming this morning before checkout. Me? I am off to pick up our daughter and take her to chemo treatment and other appointments today.
  14. Thanks for the great review. We would have been boarding Harmony after you got off, but that is another of those cruises we had to cancel. Will be following along on that one.
  15. Ok, now I need some iPhone help, because this is disturbing!!! I usually have several tabs open in Safari, and switch between them. I can’t figure how it arrives at the thumbnail to display, because it is never the last place on the thread I visited. Now for the disturbing part. I open up my tab sheet, and I see this. Susan is looking over my shoulder, and sees the upper right tab, and asks why there is a pin up boy on that one?😏😬 It must be because @Yorkvillain is using it as his wall paper now 🤣🤣
  16. How does it feel to have a 7am game start? I am afraid the Bills will really thump us today. We are missing TJ, and there are a lot of growing pains to go through now. Aloha.
  17. It is 34°F this morning with a feels like 29°. We get the grandkids this afternoon, for an overnight stay. It looks like cookies will be made and decorated. We have a hotel room reserved for the night, so they can enjoy some pool and hot tub time. Indoors, of course. We already had a change in plans, because we were both supposed to watch them tomorrow (no school for Columbus Day), while SIL took our daughter to her chemotherapy, but now I will be taking her and Susan will be entertaining the kids on her own. Off to look for some more LIVE threads, since some have been winding down.
  18. At least the weather was a little better for granddaughter’s cheering at the football game. Another win for them, 32-12. Grandson’s team, and the team she cheers for remain undefeated. As for masks, I have a new package of KN95s being delivered tomorrow. I need those for my trips to the hospital with my daughter. At least they are less expensive, and easier to find now.
