  1. I would think they have the same standards however you apply. But online I believe the instructions said if there were a problem with the picture we could upload another one.
  2. Online works great for renewal, so fast and no mailing costs involved. Completed the online application Friday 8/23. Received it Saturday 8/31 and the passport start date is 8/27. Was able to take the picture with a cell phone camera and upload it so no photo processing cost either, just the $130 passport fee.
  3. As the OP I am not sure what to think. MarQ said to me privately when I asked him and then repeated publicly in a large group at his Q&A on the last sea day that Quest was cancelled fleetwide by a shoreside decision. He even encouraged us to mention it in our comment cards (which I forgot to do tbh). I had sailed with him 3 previous times on Venezia and he always seemed to enjoy hosting it. I will be curious to see if Lee Mason who is signing on now to Venezia has it when I sail with him in October.
  4. Venezia, he said he has been a CD for 8 years. He is moving to Vista.
  5. Towards the end of the cruise I asked MarQ what happened with it and he said it was a shoreside decision to cancel it for all ships and all sailings. He said he definitely enjoyed hosting it and never had a problem. Then at the Q&A on the last day someone publicly asked about it and he said the same thing. He suggested mentioning disappointment on its cancellation on the surveys.
  6. Almost all the classes have a cost. There usually are early morning stretch classes that are free around 7am but that is it for the freebies.
  7. The loyalty party used to be gold/platinum/diamond. When they excluded gold, they added the gold drink perk on the last night in place of going to the party which normally was the last night. The diamond/platinum drink I think was just a perk they chose to limit to the morning in the MDR.
  8. I have never received a casino rate but am fine with them in the program. The cruise is being paid for some way (by the casino company) who must only be doing this because the cruiser is gambling enough. From my limited play in the casino, the gamblers with thousands of gambling points are losing plenty and likely it is costing them more than if they just paid regular rates.
  9. I was shocked when I learned this. For people who are pushing 1,000 or more days at sea you think they could throw them something every 25 cruises. To be honest, once you hit 100 cruises I think it would be reasonable to give them a free cruise every future milestone. If someone gets to 200 cruises and they got 5 free cruises (100/125/150/175/200) it would not break Carnival and they would be rewarding their most traveled guests of which there are not that many.
  10. 1992 Holiday 7 day out of Miami. I remember when we pulled up thinking that ship is HUGE. They had a little mini pool slide that was open like an hour a day and the hours were listed in the Capers (now Fun Times). They also served ice cream and frozen yogurt for very limited hours. But we did have the midnight buffet! Almost all our cruises have been with Carnival.
  11. No I dont ever remember this, definitely has not been the case for years. You could go to La Strada on deck 5 on boarding if you want something less crowded.
  12. Welcome to Venezia and welcome to cruise critic. See that this was your first post. 😀
  13. The main pool midship on Lido is typically sized for a cruise and there is one in the back between 2 hot tubs that is a bit smaller. Your assigned muster station is on your boarding pass (such as A4) and once on board you can ask where it physically is. I go with early dining but if you look under dining on the Hub app you can request a table each night once dinner opens at 5:30. No reservations are needed for seats anywhere, whether comedy or the main show lounge. Don't think anything is free in the spa but you can use the gym and locker room that does have a sauna. Sea Day Brunch is 8:30 - noon in the MDR and has typical breakfast items and also some lunch/dinner type items. You can search for the menu online and it is held most sea days. Hope that helps.
  14. This will be my 5th sailing on Venezia. Hopefully you will like it as much.
  15. Yes this will be trip #4 on the Venezia. Any questions just ask. It is the classiest ship in the fleet.
  16. We were on a Journeys cruise on Venezia so there was no priority checkin. We were 10 or 15 minutes before our 11am time and they checked us in with no wait.
  17. I don’t have an answer but I have seen people leave early because of rocky seas caused by a distant hurricane in the Atlantic. They got off with all their luggage in a foreign port and told us they were flying home. (Tbh it was not even that rocky, I would have called it moderate at most.)
  18. I did a search and have not seen it mentioned in many reviews, so maybe it is still experimental?
  19. Yes why would anyone ever book this ship? It must be terrible. OK so if you look at my signature, we just booked this cruise and have Venezia booked for next month and sailed in February and last June. I would say Venezia is one of our go to ships. Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt. 🙂
  20. We should all realize how lucky we are. When people complain about a missed port or late return home, one person is not coming home at all from this incident and others are badly hurt. Every day is a blessing, especially when we frequently are enjoying ourselves doing something we love.
  21. Some specific things I have only seen on Journeys cruises: al Fresco dinner on the Lido for Diamond vifp members Special one-hour long dance classes on sea days Enrichment lectures on sea days Went to the dinner and many of the classes so it was a positive
  22. My thinking has always been that though I wish Carnival gave better loyalty perks, especially in comparison to Royal and some of the others, I like Carnival's fares. Would rather pay the lower Carnival fares and not have all the perks, which I guess is why we have never sailed on Royal (plus I love our cruises as it is).
  23. Carnival is pretty robust with free dining options. I am not that familiar with NCL, but with Guy's, Blue Iguana, pizza plus even more on some ships (think Legend has Chopsticks) Carnival should compare well with NCL.
  24. We have a 10 day in May and at $189.99 I see it is still available. Given that price, I am not surprised.
  25. Back from the February Journeys cruise and LOVED it. I think it helped that this was our second time on Venezia and we were more familiar with it. Also was a bit more sedate, being 12 days and requiring 2 full weeks off from work, with a more mature crowd. Definitely looking forward to this cruise in May and those longer, warmer days.
