  1. At least they still had their data, but it wasn't updating to their site. Back last night. I trust everyone had a great time.
  2. For Carnival, you probably do. They are asking for photos of your rat with your photo ID and a date reference in shot. To be deemed a close contact with anyone outside your family or travel group would involve some sort of notification. As mentioned, you would need to thoroughly need to pick through Carnival's policy before trying to pull a swifty on them. I am not talking about covid re claiming insurance. The OP has a reason for needing to defer their cruise. If the reason is covered by insurance, there is a claim.
  3. Thanks Stu, for your 2 1/2 year edition of the Non-Cruisers Almanac. Yes, everything is pretty much back as our summer season kicks-off in a couple of weeks. Some ships have gone, some of the deck chairs have been shuffled, and a couple of extra surprises announced along the way. Vale David. He has been waiting a while for the heavenly QEII cruise itineraries, and they have now become available. Yes, stick a fork in it.
  4. I guess that means you are required to wear a mask once you reach the gangway, and the existing rules apply aboard. I wonder how many heard the cruise terminal announcement and thought it would apply to the ship as well?
  5. That is worth reading-up on Carnival's policy - which I haven't. Currently for P&O and Princess here, if you were to test positive to covid on your pre-cruise test, you would get a full credit of your fare. I guess it depends how far out your cruise is. Otherwise, that would be a travel insurance thing for any loss of fare.
  6. If you are talking Covid protocols, it is a bit of both. Vaxx requirements match Australia, pre-cruise testing matches US. Most things aboard are the same for both countries - any specific thing you need info for?
  7. And yes, remaining in Australia. Back to base in Brisbane in November.
  8. As said, no T/A referrals are allowed, and even thinly veiled hints can lead to a trip to the naughty corner. Any good agency is an all-rounder, even the ones that market themselves as cruise specialists. Take some time to throw together what sort of trip you want to do, then get in touch with some agents in your area and online, and see who gives you the best responses. Our T/A is interstate from us, but we can do all of that via phone or email.
  9. Not in my books, although it is an improvement on Sailwx. Back and forth when following more than 1 ship, no P&O Australia coverage, and only terrestrial tracking or scheduled location.
  10. If things keep going cruisily well, hopefully the masking aboard will be revisited by Christmas - only required on cruises going to WA 😉
  11. Awesome. I have one complimentary one booked in, but at that price I better look closer at the other 2 menus. UBD is not on the app, but might be a good time for me to look on the personaliser to see if the price bubble is there for that too.
  12. Awesome. Had to ask, as I thought the NJ might have been short for New Jersey. Get in before Oct 20th, as 99% sure it will be $40 from that date.
  13. Usually within the first day, the ship will ping the card to make sure there is enough available balance to cover a few days worth of cruising, and update it throughout the cruise. That is a pre-authorisation, aka a hold on your funds. Then they settle (authorised payment) on the last night.
  14. I do use it, but it is a bit of a data hog. The other one also includes satellite tracking, and is just cruise ships. Been preferring cruisemapper for the past 6 months or so, and it is first time it has gone down.
  15. As mentioned above, some were able to prebook for $29 on Coral before she arrived. It would be nice if they had AU mentioned when booking though.
  16. The cruisemapper site is broken. Pacific Explorer left Sydney yesterday afternoon, but is still showing just off Newcastle.
  17. Aware of that, hence the wink. Yes, it needs to be identifiable to the credit/debit card network, and have an expiry date. The same problem used to arise for pre-paid visa cards. Back to the wink - people can identify as anything these days, so it would be nice if cards could also do the same. Apologies for being cryptic.
  18. How many past cruisers lunches will they have on the world cruise?
  19. How was the ploughman's lunch? Has the potential to be awesome or ordinary, or anywhere between.
  20. Cool. I knew the public transport change was coming up, but not the cruise terminal. For 3 hours in a confined train carriage, I would rather wear my mask, but the more open expanses of cruise terminals are much less risk.
  21. I can't be sure, as there is no US or AU prefix in front of the price. The current price in the US for US dollar cruises is $29US, but I don't know how your card will be charged if you pre-purchase. $AU29 would be a bonus if that is the case, and your best chance to snag a bargain if you are charged that way. I am not game to click one button to many to see if it shows differently in the shopping cart. I don't think the app has the ability to handle 2 different currencies, and the ship is currently operating on US currency, but I expect they will change to $AU40 when the ship arrives here and changes to our local currency onboard.
  22. I think the tracking site I use hasn't been updating. It shows Coral's position where you would likely have been at 9pm, and it looks like all ships are running late. Enjoy!!
