I think that’s the best advice. Having been on the refurbished Riviera and just last month on the Marina, I can safely say, for us anyway, that though we’d love to have the redone bathrooms, their lack is not a deal breaker by any stretch. We found the Marina to be very well maintained. I think O is doing all they can/as much as they can while still recovering financially from Covid and bringing the new ships on board, so to speak. 🙂
No kidding! We were on the Regatta in French Polynesia a couple of years ago that immediately followed a similar charter. It was a bit unsettling thinking about it. I’m going to say the crew got an eyeful. 😳
We had that happen in February. It was fine going in, but it turned really rough in the afternoon. We were on one of the last tenders, and it was really rough. After a few passes, we were able to pull along side, but then the mooring rope broke, and it took several more. Several people were rather panicked. Not us, though. 🙂
Idle curiosity question to anyone who is on this cruise or the last one. How is the new cruise director doing? She seemed a bit of an odd choice to me, but what do I know??
Thanks for your post and link to your review! We, too, will be on the Riviera, having last sailed on her shortly after her refurb. Our itinerary is Singapore to Dubai.
Thanks so much to all who have posted so far! We will be there towards the end of April and can’t wait! I’ll look forward to reading more posts and adding my thoughts, too, after our visit.

We just ended a cruise in Santiago a few weeks ago and stayed at Hotel Le Rêve. It’s a small boutique hotel in a neighborhood with a number of restaurants nearby. We were quite happy with it.
Same here. Have to agree it’s really nice for hanging things to dry. I just requested to move to an A3 on the Riviera on an upcoming cruise, and I’ll actually be a bit disappointed if it comes through. 😊
We were just on the Marina in January and found her to be in very good shape. The crew was doing maintenance constantly, including repainting the outside hull that had we noticed was pretty scuffed up and rusty in a few places when we originally boarded. We kept in mind that salt water and docking are pretty hard on the exterior of any ship. We also had no issues with our a/c. Are there other things that you are concerned about?
We wouldn’t hesitate to book the Marina again before her refurb.
We were just on the Marina in January in an A3 cabin on 9. It was very hot in Brazil, but we had no problems with the a/c. Can’t say for others, but I didn’t hear any grumbling, though I did see a fan in one of the cabins. On the other hand, I sleep with a fan in our 63 degree house, so who knows…
If the last part of your ride to Volunteer Point was like ours, I’m going to say the tender was nothing. You all have had a fabulous cruise getting to see A-24 and making it into the Falklands! FDR must have the karma. 🙂
I am looking for a SIM card that will cover the countries in between the above. I cannot use an e-SIM. All suggestions based on your use of one appreciated.
Thanks!
Really excited for you! We were on the cruise just before yours. We weren’t able to have a sighting, but the cruise before ours did, too. Must admit I’m just a wee bit jealous, too.
