  1. To me it is obvious CCL is just trying to compete with other cruiselines. They cutback things because in most cases they CANNOT demand higher pricing that NCL and RCCL generally get, period.

Two sides to that coin. It is not a case of "cannot", you are seeing a company focusing their business model to the expectations and budgets of the biggest segment by far of the cruising customer base. They are doing quite well at it, you don't carry the most passengers yearly by chance. They get my business for that exact reason, they give me a specific product at a price I am willing to pay. If my only choice was at the price point of the other lines I would not cruise nearly as much even if the product is slightly more upscale.

I just came back 2 weeks ago, a similar cruise on RCCL that matched on itinerary and ship class was twice as much. Keep the drink coupon, I am glad to save the $300 per person.

  2. I have to call carnival tonight but until then here is my situation...

We recently booked early saver for 3 rooms for January 2016. 1.) Aft extended balcony for 3, 2.) premium vista balcony for 2 and 3.) premium balcony for 3 in a quad room..My daughter, her bf and my granddaughter are booked in the premium quad balcony. I am quite sure my daughter will end up not going, therefore, that will screw my granddaughter (excuse my language). I know to make any changes to our rooms we have to pay but I need to know if we have any options. We would like to change the premium vista balcony to a 3 person room to include my g-daughter but unsure if we can do that since she is already booked in another room?

My bet is you lose the deposit for the two adults in that cabin and then for $50 they will add her as an additional passenger to your cabin.

  3. They needed to freshen the gifts. Too many people pay damn good money for Cheers and giving them free drinks is giving them nothing. I can only laugh at the people who will "never cruise Carnival again" because they get a large bottle of water instead of a $7 drink. Really?

  4. Just want to double check before I purchase and save $200 on our upcoming cruise. The e gift cards are the ones that can be applied to payment for an already booked cruise. I know before that there is something there that only works for cruises you book through them.

Yes...cruise certificates are the ones with the conditions.

  5. Thanks,

It's not the greatest price at all. It's 50 something a night for an inside. It's the start of summer so I assume it's high for that reason, and my friend won a spot on the poker tournament which is the only reason we are going that week, but maybe that's why it's higher than usual.

I've always wanted to go on the dream, I'm not crazy about the price though ... I guess I'm just gonna have to deal with the high price :(

Yeah...just looked at the price. Nothing to be excited about there, Carnival is showing $579/$82nt for a GTY inside before taxes and such. It must be selling pretty good even though it is early in the summer season.

  6. I apologize if this has already been explained, but how does this work? I have Verizon and don't want to miss out on any cruise perk it might get for me! :p

Simply a money saver. A $100 gift card is $90+points. I paid for the cruise, tips, Cheers and my other expenses all with gift cards on this past cruise meaning I saved 10% across the board.

  7. Agreed with you about other lines not really being competitive and I certainly don't know where all these people find these deals. I know sometimes RCI or NCL have specials which put them close but it's not all the time and I just book when I'm ready and find when and where I'm going to go.

It's fantasy. The just use the false statement to bolster their rant. Acknowledging Carnival has the best price by far generally chips away at the basis for their complaints.

  8. Princess has no limit, no everyone in the cabin has to buy it and it includes Espresso coffee drinks, bottled water and sodas. They do not seem as paranoid as Carnival even though they are part of the same holding company

They have a different customer base which will have entirely different profit models.
