  1. Moran keeping with the thread: We have never tipped in advance but to make contributions to the crew fund. It’s been our experience that learning about the crew, their backgrounds, family and experiences and provides them with psychological if not financial rewards. I always try to learn at least some words in the languages of the crew we interact with most often (and then can be polite in about 15 different languages0. We’ve never done it in the past but I think the idea of bringing things on board and places with the crew don’t have the opportunity to get off his wonderful idea and intend to incorporated into our routine. Thanks for the idea, whoever first posted it.
  2. Mr L- just noodling around on the seaboard forum). I’ve learned that there’s much to be going on threads not terribly relevant to one’s own trip. I too consume nothing but liquids (iced tea in my case) until about 10 PM. Or at least I do the 11 or so months to year that I am not on a cruise ship. Just got off of Virgin Voyages four day cruise good managed to eat a solid three meals a day (by the way, the ambience gave me a headache but some of the food was truly spectacular which is why we went). Lost about 35 pounds since moving to California from New York 20 months ago. Allowed myself to gain back five. Now hoping to lose back 10 so I can do what I want in our segment of the world cruises coming up. But for the past five years or so, pretty much unless we are with others, I don’t eat solid food until late night. Interesting to find a fellow nocturnavore.
  3. Even though those particular concoctions are only offered on Odyssey, I would imagine that if one requested them from bartenders on other vessels they would probably do their best to create them. (We were hitting on a 43 day segment of the world cruise and certainly hope that we will have a original, interesting non-alcoholic beverages available 🙂
  4. My sense is it’s a matter of days if you submit it online. I’ve already gotten responses from Seabourn for online submissions that I made over the weekend. (It turns out that those I’ve referred will get credit; it’s not combinable with credits we already have and so we will be able to use them for an as-yet-unhooked future cruise. Hope that helps
  5. Tuikku- there is a really easy online process. If you send your email address to me, I just send it on to Seabourn and the credit will appear in a few days. They used to want more information like booking numbers but now it’s pretty straightforward. Steve007Sonoma@gmail.com.
  6. If you private message me, or email me at STEVE007Sonoma@gmail I can start the process right now and you should have it in a week, maybe less
  7. If you are new to seabourn and are sailing before February 1, a few things to note: – you are in for a treat – this board is a wonderful resource – Seabourn has a program where new passengers can get $250 onboard shipboard credit. This is completely legit. You can verify it on the seabourn website. https://www.seabourn.com/en_US/refer-a-friend.html If you email me at Steve007Sonoma@gmail.com, I can explain it further and submit your booking to Seabourn. Thanks

  9. We are booked for a 43 day cruise in Feb. '24. I would LOVE to have the soap selection available. I too fondly remember the soap selection choice... loved the oatmeal for showers! I am NOT a fan of shower gels... if bar soaps aren't offered, will bring that from home (takes up a whole lot less space in the luggage than pillows! 🙂 Definitely disappointed that down pillows are gone. Given our pre- and post-cruise plans, bringing our own pillows isn't terribly feasible. We've already figured we'd wine shop in Marlborough, NZ and bring on board... So long as I can still get my caviar and blini, and the chef is willing to do special orders, I'll live with synthetic pillows!

  11. On a previous cruise, I requested Tanqueray Rangpur gin, and my husband asked that they stock enough diet Mountain Dew to last for the two week cruise. Both were in our suite when we arrived, even though we were leaving from Buenos Aires! This time, it’s going to be a long cruise leaving from Auckland New Zealand. Do you think will be able to request those two products again? My husband has done the research, and there is a diet Mountain Dew product available in New Zealand.
  12. Welcome to the Seabourn family!. It’s pretty straightforward. If you send me your name and sealing date, iContact Seabourn. By my “referring“ you, we each get a $250 onboard credit. I’d be happy to send further information. You can email me at. steve007sonoma at gmail dot Com Happy to answer any questions you might have about Seaborn as well. We’ve traveled on them several times, and are looking forward to a 43 day cruise this coming February. Stephen Goldfinger.
  13. The Seaborn rep said that the Serene area can only be booked on a daily basis ($29 per person per day), but there are no packages. I could virtually swear that we have purchased a package in the past. Has anybody noticed any on board specials for this 43 days (14 sea days) makes this a fairly expensive option when booked individually (as opposed by couple) for that long a cruise.
  14. VV- Where in Sonoma? we are on the East side of Sonoma, looking to buy on the Rt. 12 corridor (checking out a place i Glen Ellen this weekend. ‘Assume you’re loving Seabourn. We do!
  15. Read this board! The threads offer, invaluable advice, insights from long-term cruisers, and lots and lots of tips to get the most out of the experience. It’s been about five years since our last cruise and I am systematically reading through the posts to maximize our time (and we’ve actually been on the Sojourn several times before).
  16. Done. She and I have already corresponded but thanks Tech now.
  17. If someone is new to seabourn and booking the cruise, please let us know. We just booked the 43 day cruise out of Auckland for February 10 and sure could use the referral credit. If you’ve cruise before, and they’re now trying Seabourn for the first time, I’m jealous! It truly is a phenomenal experience. We are so delighted with even just the expectation of returning. Let us know and we will work with you to get you the credit as well.
  18. After a hiatus that involve not only COVID, but retirement and moving from Brooklyn to Sonoma, California, we are finally back to cruising in Seabourn! Just booked the Auckland to Taipei 43 day section of the world cruise for next winter. I’ll follow the board closely but Planning is half the fun. Any idea what the serenity area (my husband’sfavorite, part of the ship) will cost for the 43 day trip?
  19. We are currently on the reflection. Felt fine until this afternoon, when my husband began to feel feverish with a cough and runny nose. We tested, and I was negative, he was positive. Just came back from the guest services. Desk with a seemed remarkably unconcerned. I (I’m on MD) had to suggest that perhaps they might want us to disembark before, or after the bulk of passengers. We had to proactively suggest that they take our cabin number so they could disinfect the cabin more carefully before the several hours turned around tomorrow. Frankly, I felt like I was instructing people in a high school level public health class, rather than service that provides potential exposure to tens of thousands of people each week. It will be interesting to see how they follow up.
