  1. We live 20 minutes away and get the earliest check in offered. We like to have lunch in the MDR, we have a food restriction (celiac) and the dietary manager always comes to our table to discuss dinner options. Cabins are usually available when we are done, drop off carry on bags and head to muster (which I think is coming back).
  2. The pricing can be very different, and I believe when you change up your tickets you need to pay the current price on Amtrak. My daughter took a train back to college purchased in advance, $30, her friend got a last minute ticket for $100. Two of my kids used NJ transit trains to travel back and forth to college, so easy (one accidentally booked Amtrak the first time, fortunately he also booked the insurance so he was able to cancel 🤣).
  3. We’ve just walked.
  4. I can place a recreational marijuana order online and pick it up a few miles away, in many forms, but that won’t help someone with a nicotine addiction.
  5. We are in NJ and have taken several cruises during nj teacher’s convention week, always a lot of surprised cruisers wondering about all of the kids. I’ve just read about yeshiva here.
  6. No (back in the day you could even with no package).
  7. I refuse to drink tap water at home, too much chlorine, use a brita, but drink it with no issues on cruises. We have a countertop ice maker and I even use filtered for that.
  8. At 15 my kids stayed up late regardless of where they were. In high school they had crazy busy schedules and rarely went to bed before midnight during the week. They’re really good power nappers, I think now as young adults they average 6 hours of sleep a night. They never missed a family breakfast on a cruise. On weekends they go out with friends and don’t get home until after 3 am (over the winter college break my 20 year old twins drove me nuts bringing friends home at that time, a little too noisy for me).
  9. We prefer cabbage beach over cable (we’ve done both), we don’t really enjoy mild waves. We’ve been to Melia, Atlantis and RIU and RIU was our favorite. Breezes had some sketchy reviews when we were choosing a day pass on our last cruise. ETA I think breezes had some dates for high school senior trips.
  10. The water on the ships is fine, I drink gallons of water a day at home and we all bring our yeti’s. They also sell water. They might let you bring on the shakes.
  11. Vaping doesn’t leave residual smoke, it’s not smoke, some has zero scent at all.
  12. Yes, if you want to see the final cost after (extensive) taxes and fees go through to the end.
  13. Welcome to yeshiva week (9 days I believe), think of it like spring break for some Jewish kids looking to blow off some steam on vacation.
  14. You can check into hotels at any time, it’s just that your room won’t be ready until the afternoon. If you are actually staying, bell services will hold your luggage. When you check into CS, you can even check out at the same time (we didn’t, in case we decided we needed the room for whatever reason, but my husband ended up walking over and checking out before we headed back to the ship).
  15. I’ve brought teens on NCL (5 the last time, all mine), I’m sure they all enjoyed second dinner on the ship while my husband and I were in the cabin, after dinner and maybe a show we didn’t see them again until morning. However, I’ve been known to grab some fruit, cheese and crackers from the buffet to eat on our balcony. My husband used to grab wings from O’Sheehans when it used to be allowed.
  16. Being allowed to bring wine on without a corkage fee if you have the UBP is pretty new, hard liquor will be taken and returned to you the last night. This thread is the first time I’ve heard that they allow beer and wine to be brought onboard, this was never allowed before even with a fee.
  17. If you have the UBP, you can bring unlimited bottles of wine, if not it’s $15 a bottle. My sister always travels with a wind suitcase.
  18. I’d add rum runners to this list, not something I do, but I couldn’t care less if other do.
  19. Well, there is obviously no way to possibly enforce this rule, I suspect those who vape would prefer not yo be around the smokers.
  20. I’ve seen this question asked many times, I don’t think anyone has been successful.
  21. I’m curious, why does it bother people if others vape in their cabins? I’ve never vaped in my life, but have been around others who do, it doesn’t bother me at all. I certainly don’t care what others do behind closed doors, especially if it doesn’t affect me at all.
  22. This is actually the first time you mentioned that there are 4 already in the suite.
  23. Lots of fish tacos in NJ! Maynetbeyre all here in the nyc metro area?
