  1. The OP was just asking a question - doesn't sound like she's trying to scam anyone. My daughter had the same question about a cruise booked on a casino deal that her husband received. Her 2 year old daughter, her husband and herself are booked on a Thanksgiving cruise that will include 3 other family members, so she is very excited to be able to go. Her husband may have an issue with work that would interfere with him being able to go. She called her PVP and asked how this would work if her husband can't get the issue taken care of. She's not trying to scam CCL, she just wants to know what to do if he can't go. He doesn't want to cancel because he's still working on being able to go, The PVP didn't have an absolute answer - she advised to wait until the last minute - if he is a no-show, my daughter should be prepared to pay the normal rate which she is willing to do. Her concern was whether she and her daughter would be denied boarding or if she would simply be charged the difference at the port.
  2. I have never had an issue with booking one cabin for myself and my sister and each of us get whatever casino deal we have. I do use a PVP but before calling her I basically give her all the info: cabin number and booking code. Lately the deals have been so good that we each book a separate cabin, but we will both be in the same cabin on the Magic in November - and we each had a Jackpot offer - Free Play $$ and drinks everywhere onboard. I booked under my name but our PVP said that we both show the same deal when she booked it. I'm like Krisco, I will email the Players Club so that I will have that information in writing. I've done this in the past and have never had to show it - but better to have it and not need it than not have it.
  3. I've sailed on Paradise alot because I live so close. I've also sailed on Mardi Gras, Magic, Breeze and a bunch more (over 30 cruises with Carnival). The area you pointed out are indeed outside stairs - shouldn't bother you at all. I was in G1 and my sister in G2 a few months ago (btw those are great rooms - no balcony but floor to ceiling windows and the rooms are very big - loved them). The only thing to beware of is only forward elevators service this floor - and the ones on starboard side forward also do not go to the G deck - so basically the 2 port side forward elevators are the only ones you can take. It did cause a bit of a wait during really busy times, but nothing that bad. I spend alot of time in the casino - it's not a huge casino like the newer ships, but it should be fine. Also - just something to keep in mind if you book the Paradise in the future - the regular balcony cabins are very small - no couch or anything. They were basically ocean view rooms that they added a balcony to during dry dock a few years ago. I think you all will be much happier in the Junior Suite.
  4. We were on the Paradise earlier this summer. We are both platinum and on all the other cruises, we were allowed to drop off luggage. This time the doors to the hallways that have that no enter message" were locked and we couldn't get to the cabin until 1:30. I heard several other people comment on this, so not sure what happened.
  5. I too am happy that testing is no longer required - mainly because the Walgreens where we were getting tested for the last 5 cruises is no longer testing for travel. I had a total of 11 people in my family (including me) that took cruises in June on 3 different ships. We are all vaccinated. Out of the 11, nine (including me) tested positive after the cruises. Three of us had pretty bad flu-like symptoms for a few days, the rest were either asymptomatic or had cold-like symptoms. I will be getting the next booster that is supposed to come out next month and have 6 cruises booked from now until December of next year. I am not concerned for myself, but if I were not vaccinated I would definitely be a bit concerned, especially if I were over 65 or had prior health issues. The virus is alive and well on cruises where the vast majority of the passengers were vaccinated and all tested negative before the cruise. My thought is that the unvaccinated have every right not to be vaccinated - they know the risk and if they want to take the risk, more power to them. People are still dying from this virus everyday - hopefully that won't happen to them. If it does, I hope that they don't shut down the cruise lines when their family starts blaming the cruise for not testing everyone.
  6. Not making me feel okay about booking a connecting cabin on Mardi Gras. I couldn't pass up the cabin - great casino deal. The cabin is an extended balcony on deck 10. I've been on the Mardi Gras twice already and this location would be ideal for me. I've been in connecting cabins before but with family next door. I don't remember hearing them unless we had the doors open. Guess if push comes to shove, I can always turn on my sound machine. I don't spend a lot of time in the cabin, but plan to be on the balcony quite a bit - so the connecting door won't be my problem - slamming the balcony door or being super loud on the balcony will be more of an issue.
  7. Exactly. I wasn't sure whether to download info or not since I had cruised 3 times since restart and thought the check in process wasn't that slow. We did download it and had no problems adding vaccination and test information for a recent cruise out of Tampa. It was fabulous and I will continue using it. Of course, we will always have the hard copies if needed, but I was impressed with how easy and fast it was.
  8. Heading out in one hour for a short 4 day get away on the Paradise. I have sailed on the Paradise a whole bunch of times, but for the life of me I can't remember if they have a place to watch sports. I remember watching some big game (maybe the Super Bowl?) in the theater years ago. The Lightning are playing Game 5 tonight and I am a huge fan. It will be on ESPN - anybody know where we may be able to watch?
  9. Some things must have really changed if they are now hiring manpower staffing agencies. I have spoken to several of the check in staff and most have been there for several years. I can only imagine the headaches of training all those casual part time workers every embark day. They all seem to be spot on as they are checking people in. Not sure your information is correct.
  10. I will be cruising on June 9th and have already cruised 3 times since August. Thought I was well versed in Carnival vaccine and testing protocols, but thankfully I decided to go back and review. I am fully vaccinated and have one booster shot - I am 66 years old and therefore am also eligible for 2nd booster but haven't gotten it yet - waiting to see if there is a summer surge in my area so that I know the 2nd booster efficacy doesn't wear out in the middle of a surge. Initially we could be tested 3 days in advance, then it went to 2 days, only to go back to 3 days. So, just before I scheduled our tests for June 6th (3 days in advance) I went back to the protocols. Looked at the vaccine requirements - says considered fully vaccinated if you have the two first shots and says something about the CDC recommendations that you get boosted if eligible and if they change that to required so will Carnival. Looks like I'm good to go - but when checking testing requirement, it states that if you are eligible for boosters but did not get them, you must test 2 days prior rather than 3. So, that means I have to get test 2 days in advance, right??? Why don't they have that in the vaccine section rather than saying you are considered fully vaccinated if you have the initial shots until, and if, CDC goes from recommending to requiring?
  11. My daughter, her husband and her stepdaughter returned from a 6 day on the Horizon. On the last day of the cruise they started feeling just yuck, but had drinks and food in Jamaica so thought that was the culprit. Not feeling any better on debarkation day they decided to stop and pick up 3 rapid tests - daughter and husband positive, stepdaughter negative. We had their 18 month old daughter and were anxiously waiting their return (love her to death but too old to have her more than 6 days). Needless to say, we had her another 4 days and her other grandparents had her for 4 additional days until both parents tested negative. Not sure if they were exposed on the ship or in port, but they never received an email. From what I understand they did advise their PVP about test results - maybe that's why they didn't get the email?? Going on a cruise in 3 weeks and was so looking forward to finally not having to wearing a mask everywhere like the last 3 cruises, but I do believe I will continue to wear one when in close quarters.
  12. He/she will give you a "receipt" to sign. Although I always tip room service in cash, I'm sure there is a line on the receipt for tip - just add it and it will come off of your S&S account. Last year my sister had purchased bar cash (think that's what it is called) and on the last night had about $50 left - she found our favorite casino bar waiter, ordered a drink then added the $50 tip on the receipt. Not a problem and the young lady was very appreciative.
  13. It sounded like she planned to play on it all week - I don't think that is trying to get around anything. I know that some people will use the slots to get a cash advance without having to pay a fee and then cash it out right away and I have seen people download their OBC to a slot and again cash it out right away. These cases are people trying to get around the rules, but downloading OBC or Cruise Cash and playing on it all week shouldn't be an issue. Then again, if the OP only plans on using a dollar or two a day for 7 days - that's questionable.
  14. That has to be the most rational assessment of the situation that I have ever heard. Well done!!!
