When I cruised inner passage way from Seattle; I had imessage, wifi, facetime, and email all the time. Never really lost a signal. Who knows how things will work; but for my family of four who all had iphones; no one had issues
Hyatt Place has a nice breakfast which is included in the price. Like CruiserBruce mentioned, Embassy Suites is nice; located next to a publix grocery store for last minute shopping; but it's more expensive and the rooms are older.
I assume since ruby was only doing a day stop; Princess has not yet booked with local companies for the second day excursions. Check back later when Princess can lock down those excursion.
I plan on doing online testing in my hotel room in NY. I read the above post and as my ship departs NY it will dock in Canada twice; so I need to be tested.

Voyages that include Canada:Please note that cruises that begin, end or visit Canada will require sailing guests ages 12 and above who are not Canadian citizens be fully vaccinated, unless they are granted a medical exemption. Find out if you can enter Canada at travel.gc.ca^. Note all Alaska voyages include Canadian ports.
This is from Princess website; it says vacinnated it does not mention having to get a covid test to visit Canada.
