  1. It was my biggest disappointment. And I honestly do not understand how they designed a 4000 person cruise with a theater this small.
  2. I mostly wore tennis shoes if that helps at all. But I am not sure where the slippery/padded comments came from. I didn't notice the flooring being any different than what I am used to.
  3. I was on the 9/16 sailing, and my quick rundown: 1.) Somehow we got lucky and had great weather almost every day. It was like a miracle. 2.) The boat was even more beautiful in person than it is on the website. Honestly I was super impressed by this ship's design. 3.) The crew seemed like they are still learning the ropes. Not quite as happy, outgoing, etc as I see typically from Carnival crew. Somedays they were moving very slowly and not enthusiastic (maybe due to the older crowd?) 4.) The only problem with the ship is the Theater. This should be a newer ship with a newer theater, but its TINY and the stage is like the older ships with less area for big shows. Coming from the Magic on my last cruise this was a HUGE disappointment for me. First - you had to be in line about 60 minutes before showtime to even have a chance to get a seat and Second - the stage is so small the only real stage items they have is some small risers, no background objects, nothing coming out of the floor, etc. At most they play with a big background video screen only. 5.) All that above being said, the entertainers did a great job and all their voices were fantastic. 6.) Food was the same as what I remember previously. Maybe slightly less quality, but still good. I thought the Lobster was actually pretty decently sized this time. 7.) The pay Italian restaurant is hit or miss. I got the fried appetizer and the Steak Pizzaiola, and thought both were great. My wife got the Shrimp Scampi and she didn't like it at all. 8.) The lido deck was NOT slippery. 9.) There was a midnight buffet quite a few times, but I never went. 10.) The Platinum gift was still a fanny pack. 11.) Did 3 excursions and all were great. St John - St Martin, Halifax - Peggy's Cove, Sydney - Taste of Cabot Trail.
  4. I have my kids coming to pick me up after next week on Venezia. This is my first premium debarkation, so I honestly have no idea when I will be getting off.
  5. I find it strange that it is slippery. Is it just the surface, or is there some oil not being mopped up properly?
  6. Weather forecast right now looks like an amazing time in Canada.
  7. I was interested to see if there were any open cabins for the cruise and looks like there still is. I assume perhaps some folks cancelled recently. Strange there hasn't been anyone commenting on getting any upgrade fairy calls yet. I would gladly pay a bit more to move to the open cove balcony room.
  8. I will be along on the 9/16 voyage as well. Thanks for taking the time to document the journey for me! My wife is agonizing over packing, and thinking that we will be stuck in the Bahamas with cold weather clothes lol.
  9. Have 3 Chase cards... Didn't get this offer. So much sadness.
  10. Good advice. I hear different opinions on MSC, but Virgin I think would be good for me. I need to check into this status match.
  11. They have these on many ships near the "trivia area", and so far I have seen them completely unused.
  12. Do any of these other lines match your VIP level with Carnival? Priority embarkation, free laundry, etc will keep me on Carnival for some time... unless someone wants to match it?
  13. Perhaps this is the correct take. I am SURE that post COVID they have had to mature a lot of chefs that are still learning on the job.
  14. Buying low has been pretty easy with CCL over the last few years.
  15. April. I had zero issues with the food I chose. So much hyberbole here IMO.
  16. Checking the weather today and I am more optimistic. Looks like its staying away from the East Coast and will become more of a Nor'Easter like storm when it will hit NB/NS late Saturday. So if debarking on Saturday from NYC and getting to St John NB on Monday... should be fine I would expect? Hopefully.
  17. All this trashing of the food, and honestly I never have an issue. There is always something great available IMO. If you don't like the steak/lobster - order one of the other 10 options.
  18. Things looking better this morning: https://www.livenowfox.com/weather/hurricane-lee-tracking-path
  19. I take the blame. Last year I was at this same time out of Port Canaveral dodging hurricanes. So I picked this cruise this year to avoid them.
  20. I have had much more spicy foods at the MDR than at the Lido buffet.
  21. Yes this is my wife's 50th birthday cruise... so 100% agreed.
  22. What I saw this morning was 8 - 16 foot waves in NYC on Saturday. Not sure how the ship returns to port for us to embark?
  23. Sure seems like it will have to be... almost every track I see has it hitting Nova Scotia... and feels like it will be there about the time we leave? Or maybe just before?
