We'll be staying at the Hilton Galveston Island Resort they informed me they have a shuttle for a small fee, if not we'll get a taxi or call Uber.  It's also close to a Kroger, restaurants and some fast food joints.

I think I saw some at my local Kroger.

We've been on 3 cruises since the start up. The roasted beef tenderloin is still excellent.  We love the carrot cake it was always 3 layers it is now 2 layers but very good.  I'm going to ask for one to go. The Asian pork tacos have been good.

We will be staying 1 ½ days at the Hilton Galveston Island Resort before our Harmony cruise in April.  Are taxi’s, Uber & Lyft readily available to help us get around to restaurants, downtown some other places that we can’t walk to. Slight mobility issues make it difficult for us to walk more than a couple of blocks.  

I did look into renting a golf cart for the day but not sure that is a good idea does anyone have any experience with that? Traffic, parking etc?

I did see there is a bus or trolley that runs the seawall but also not sure if we would want to be standing around waiting for it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We just reserved a Standard SUV with Galveston Saltwater Moms for April 2024.

Pick up at IAH to Hilton Galveston with a stop at Bucees $120 and pick up at port after cruise to IAH $125. Probably $300 total with tip. No money up front cash or Venmo at time of pick up. 

I don't use FB much but did reserve through messenger and then through email. I did get all contact info & phone numbers to confirm again probably the week before.

I attached tags but they also put a additional hand written one on each bag.

 We each have a carry on with wheels. With early arrival I like the perk that someone takes them to the room when we drop them off at the main dining room instead of rolling them around.

Looking at the deck plans for the boardwalk on Harmony I don't see anything that might be a pay ice cream place.

Any place on Harmony to get scooped ice cream after dinner or evening? Not the soft serve.

Our cruise is showing 47.99 I hope I can grab it for 29.99. The Welcome Lunch is one of the best perks of the Key.

It is better than a coach bus tour but we wouldn't do it again. The mini bus has 2 seats on one side and one seat on the other side very small uncomfortable seats. We stopped at lighthouse for 15 minutes, a marina about 20 min, Hamilton 30 min and 10 mins to view a beach.  Total tour was about 3 hous long.  I'd think about a private taxi tour.

Well our plan didn't work out. When we arrived I asked at Embassy Suites about the Uber pick up to NYC. She proceeded to tell me that you can order it but it will be most likely cancelled.  She gave me a card of a private car service.  Went to the room and tried to pre order Uber for the next day with no luck.  I then called the private car service and arranged it for the next morning. It came with a hefty price and he came back to pick us up later and even waited 45 min when the tour ran over.  These 2 seniors survived and we had a great time.

All drivers have a waiting area away from terminals.

Once you log in to Uber, the App will tell you how long before pick up and you text driver the location number outside of terminal luggage pick up.  All pick ups are in the same locations.

In Galveston , check with hotel for transportation options.

Same with return to IAH

 

It is not complicated.

Thank you we have used Uber at various airports with that type of pick up. None that have been that far from the hotel we are going to.  Now my concern is are Uber drivers willing  to take a ride that is 70 miles away. I just want to make sure they are available. I know it could vary in price $50-150.
