  1. I do have the impression when some items are missing , they are not trying to buy locally and resolve the problem but simply waiting until the next container is arriving: like the lack of mineral water in Belgium and the Netherlands with ample choice of ship suppliers and the lack of cranberry juice and unsalted butter also a good port agent can handle problems a good friend of mine is the best port agent for cruise ships and sometimes some small items are missing indeed with his wife I searched for a particular brand of gin on a Sunday - we were able to find it - I once went to buy 12 tins of French mustard for a cruise ship , and finding Dom Pérignon is not a problem during the week , finding Cristal Roederer or Krug is something else , I agree on that.
  2. so once again difficulties of supplies ???? I was in a premier penthouse and also did receive Veuve instead of Moet with a year said "millesimé" and a 20 cl bottle of wodka : reading all those items the "failure of luxury" is still going on after 5 months in operation who will clean up all those mistakes and introduce "real luxury" ? a " broom " with a lot of power to fire a few on the top , gen managers F&B ....required!!! MSC owners urgently should hire a team of 3 courageous people to clean up all those failures and introduce real luxury asap
  3. smooth travelling home ! and hoping to meet on another cruise very soon - it was a 😃pleasure to meet and to play trivia my next cruise is Barbados barbados on the Splendor - and your contributions showed me the way to Regent as we both had a history on 2 other companies
  4. if ordering a cocktail and you want a "better" brand what is complimentary you must insist to use that brand otherwise the bartender will take the basic i want a martini with Grey Goose or Ketel One when available , but i never will ask to use Grey Goose for a Bloody Mary
  5. bringing wine or spirits on board is not a problem as the wine list for special wines is far too onerous I brought some of my own bottles there is no corkage fee howver after the 3rd bottle I got "long faces" I cannot hide I disliked that Explora rather heavily , it was not what they said in the presentations
  6. please read my review concerning Explora I it was so bad i did cancel my Caribbean cruise the secon day , so after 1 breakfast , 2 lunches and 2 diners and poor inclusive wines and usury for all the other items : connoisseur list excursions, shops transfers : a failure of luxury a try by a company not acquainted with the luxury level !
  7. It was related to the number of seadays during the past : 4 seadays I disagreed on that policy as during some very expensive cruises ( a Black Sea before ... ) and a Norwegian cruise with 3 seadays it was not organised Exception made for the holidays cruise, in general Caribbean cruise were not the most expensive ones and nearly all those cruises had 4 seadays and then the brunch or buffet was organised ...

    Athens Hotel

I recently was in the Grande Bretagne , of course very nice I was several times in the Intercontinental on Club floor and I was not very happy at the Marriott hotel ( ex Chandris hotel ) beginning of this year
  9. yes however some MD are probably very willing to write certificates that some people can take their lap dog on cruise ...
  10. imho dogs should be banned exception for blind guide dogs !!!
  11. be aware of taking trains in Zeebrugge - one every hour and even in the winter one every 2hours you can take the tram to Knokke the most upscale place on the Belgian coast Blankenberge is far more popular : the train to Brugge is only 20 minutes taxi's from Blankenberge are allowed to bring people back to the terminal but are not allowed to take people to Brugge from the ship however ??? in Zeebrugge there are some not so bad eateries and resto's and there is a Carrefour supermarket but it is not a good cruise port !! far away from everything ...
  12. I am afraid I cannot follow sorry "half price" ? A Dom P 2002 "P2" is available at 295 EUR without taxes (ships do not pay any tax ) and a 2003 at 395 Eur with taxes ( so deduct 21 % + some 11 Eur alcohol tax for 12,5 % ) I think it was 640 Eur on Explora? What I really do NOT understand that on MSC ( the original ) the all inclusive is far more elaborated and rather soft wine prices ( especially for the Champagne Bar ) but on the luxury brand by the same mother company outrageous high ... where is the logic ? And I am so upset because on board I did not receive the "great and luxurious product" as presented by the senior representative for Europe and later twice by the junior ...
  13. I did cancel the Caribbean cruise the 2nd evening of the cruise Hamburg tot Glasgow and I am glad I did it as this was NOT the product that was promissed
  14. I was supposed to be on that cruise , I did cancel because I was not satisfied at all after the second day despite she is a beautiful ship so I booked another cruise on another brand new ship : I did receive a full bottle of premium wodka - 1 liter instead of 20 cl😁 I did not have to pay extra for a cognac vsop , nor for an Elyx wodka , neither for a Macallan 12 years as on Explora and I couldchose from + 25 inclusive wines even Sancerre and Chablis I paid 139 dollar for a upper medium Champagne instead of 280 euro I paid 92 $ for a well known Rosé Champagne instead of 155 euro and finally 252 dollar for a top rated Champagne instead of 370 euro that is the very truth !! nobody can deny or embellish those facts. conclusion : wine lovers stay away unless the wiseguys at MSC HQ in Genève are realising they are VERY wrong ...
  15. I just had a very bad experience in the JW Marquis Marriott in an executive. Problems by checking in as executive. Breakfast VERY poor and guests have to pay in the lounge for beer wine and liquor in the evening High prices in the bar - I wish I had taken the Mandarin Oriental.
  16. yes mrs Bitob, happy holidays as well from grey Belgium... rain and heavy winds but up to 12° C - too "warm" for the wintertime !! had along connecting time in Zurich , and nearly 1,30 delay on the short Zurich Brussels the 7 days were great exception made for the last day - the rock and roll and the weather in general and the 2 days prior to the cruise in Miami I spent too much money on that hotel Marquis Marriott where guests must pay for beer , wine and licor in de executive lounge 🤑 I will memorise the Arc de T in Paris and the old British currency for upcoming trivia , however not the US sports questions !!! and the left hand hook next cruise is Barbados on the Splendor happy New year and a great 2024 cruising year !
  17. always try to make "mixed" teams US and European... we do not know anything from base ball , Us football at all 😄
  18. I am stilll verry happy I had the courage to go and book a Hapag Lloyd cruise on the Ms Europa in 2007, I was sick and tired of SB and together with SS they both became very unfriendly to singles .
  19. that is maybe the one and only cruise company, I am afraid to book
  20. I started to cruise on luxury ships when I was 34...as a single I simply liked it .
  21. years go there even was a fight in a bar on a another luxurious company ... I am Belgian and it seems the term "liberal" is something else in the US as in Europe, here it is the centre ...
  22. I had the same feeling for the Silver Dawn and then I discovered the Splendor , 2 more cruises booked for 2024. The doors for SB are closed for years. And after my April 2024 cruise on the Dawn also no great deals for singles anymore. Unfortunately no great offers as a single so far on the Grandeur , wait and see! I really do not like to pay double !
