  1. Is this the same friend who wanted to know about the invert pineapples or another? 🙂
  2. But Jam says the food is rarely piping hot, so it might not matter too much.
  3. I imagine you would include in ‘off the shelf designs’ the Media and the Parthia, as well as Carmania and her three sisters. Admittedly, they were all built for Cunard, but the concept is not new.
  4. It’s not always very warm indoors. Equally it is sometimes too hot.
  5. That is a relief. I was worrying that it might be another double meaning that had passed me by. 🙂
  6. I think it is the competitive element I dislike. When I was a teacher, I spent a lot of emotional capital sorting out the very few children in the year who did less well than they had hoped in their exams. Hence, I spend all my time worrying about the losers, which banishes any possible enjoyment.
  7. Yes, of course we do. I believe it is hugely popular, but I have never watched it, because I have no interest in competitive cake making. Never seen the dancing programme either.
  8. Perhaps he is practising so he can go to the Gala Nights next time he is on Cunard?
  9. Nice to see a pepper pot in the top picture. Glad you are keeping on top of that. Paper is all the wrong way round. I suppose they do wash those metal plates?
  10. There are decks below the ones used by passengers. Sometimes you pass through one, while boarding a tender.
  11. And while the restaurants are sometimes rather warm, on other occasions they can be quite cool, so people are glad of a jacket.
  12. Hang on, you are in the UK, so what exactly do you mean by pants? 🙂
  13. It doesn’t look stuffed so much as swamped. May taste nice though, if you like cheese sauce. If I’d had to guess, I might have guessed it was lasagne. 🙂
  14. Quite. And how it is going to work when the NHS move all emergency services to Bournemouth, I dread to think.
  15. Do people in California really watch a programme about making cakes? Never seen it myself.
  16. But you were on a Cunard ship, so you are allowed to pretend. I eat croissants without being French.
  17. Oh yes, the kippers. Definitely. I think it is smoked haddock they do, but I don’t like that for some reason.
  18. It is onion, tomato purée, butter, mustard, and Worcester sauce, according to Jamie Oliver.
  19. Pineapple! In with a plate of different types of melon. Which way up? What does that signify?
