  1. The Eurostar doesn’t go to Southampton. It goes to London, St. Pancras. A few may stop somewhere in Kent.
  2. Well, that would certainly cover out drinks bill. I can’t see any reason not to book one, although, as I say, we did not experience really rough seas, but even there, how can one know whether it’s worse than more central cabins?
  3. Have travelled in one twice, once on a TA, and had no movement problems, but then we didn’t have a Force 12. An advantage is there are no lifeboats in your view, which many would find pleasing. Another advantage is it is a very long way to and from dinner, so you do a fair amount of exercise without trying. I can’t actually see why they differentiate them from the Q5 cabins.
  4. Only Bluemarble can adjudicate.
  5. Not at the time. 😀 That elevation was later.
  6. It is an actual person. I read an interview with her once, perhaps in the Cunarder, but I can’t remember her name.
  7. Possibly the Great Belt Bridge?
  8. Always excepting Captain Rynd.
  9. I agree with you. It’s a miserable room. I’m not sure it has always had the same colour scheme though. I also hope they change the carpets in the corridors. The current ones look faded even though they are not. They should aim for the opposite: something that doesn’t look faded even when it is.
  10. And aren’t some of the Princess ships UK based in the summer? They always seem to be in and out of Soton.
  11. Not really the topic, I know, so I hope HH will forgive, but, coincidentally, we have both twice been booked on cruises which were the last cancelled before restarting.
  12. Yes, actually, NZ whites, of which we drink a number, always seem to have screw tops, bless them. Are you on the Canaries trip?
  13. I seem to remember much similar sentiment when QE2 went out of service and QM2 and, particularly, the Vistas were introduced. I didn’t particularly want to book QA, but there we are on its second voyage, unless it is further delayed, and much looking forward to it. I just hope they’ve found the corkscrews.
  14. Obviously there will be lots of teething problems: in a new ship nobody may be sure where the spare corkscrews are. Nonetheless, P&O always seem to be having new ships without imploding, so I expect Cunard may manage.
  15. Yes, I really should have thought even Cunard might have thought about this. 😀
  16. Nonetheless, this has not universally been the case. On my last trip, it was 1.30, so there you go. Perhaps it was because of the checkin process being rather slower, and the pax being allowed on board somewhat later.
  17. I have just been sent an email, offering me, inter alia, the delights of a Norway cruise on QA in August 2023. I know we love Cunard for their administrative incompetence, but you’d think they might get the year right. Or are Fincantieri getting on very quickly?
  18. It still doesn’t mention it. Perhaps they think if I’m looking at the VP, I won’t be booking on board.
  19. Firstly, you are very generous, and much too kind about the extent of my knowledge. Secondly, I’m sure you are absolutely correct. Thirdly, it is very mysterious, because the version on my Voyage Personaliser didn’t mention it when I looked. I shall have another look.
  20. Hmph. I’m sure you are right. I looked on the VP and the FAQs, where the price is wrong anyway, and neither of them disclose this gem.
  21. I can’t find the extra cost for booking onboard anywhere. Booking on board can use up your obc nicely.
  22. Usually round about midday. The earliest I’ve achieved was about 11.25 pre-Covid. I think our boarding instructions said 12, but there was just nobody else around.
  23. It might be worth asking nicely about the packages when you get on board. I seem to remember reading about a case where leniency (or common sense) had been applied in this matter.
  24. Sorry, I am about to make things worse. The Romans started the Dolaucothi gold mine in Carmarthenshire, which are still in production. I would think the infrastructure required for this, including aqueducts and waterwheels, and mills, would suggest something more settled than a military occupation. Perhaps you better reinstate Wales, though I’m not convinced most of it was subdued, but you really don’t set up a gold mine if surrounded by truculent inhabitants, I should have thought.
  25. Fascinating. And there in 1910 is little Carpathia on her Med. itinerary which had her not quite near enough to rescue all those on Titanic.
