  1. Funny, that's how the Drawing Room struck me, too. I hope that it will be a quiet space to sit. Or that some of the public spaces will be quiet. On QM2, I like to sit in the Champagne bar in the morning and read. The bar isn't open, so it's peaceful and the windows are big for gazing at the sea.
  2. I believe I read that the fish and chips will be at lunch but not dinner. Last two cruises, that was my embarkation lunch. I wish Cunard would show some of the new menus in their teaser campaign.
  3. Duh! We have Magnolia paint over here, too. I just didn't make the connection.
  4. Some of the renderings look underfurnished. I don't think we'll know what they really look like until someone on the maiden posts pictures. There's odd open space in the Games room. (Note more sage, but also some cream--I leave it to @Victoria2 to tell us the name) And the drawing room. Again, odd open space.
  5. By West do you mean the old Queen of the West? Or as we called it, Queen of the Worst. We sailed on that ship 10 years ago and thought it was in bad shape.
  6. It's better than the ubiquitous grays. I keep hoping decorators will move on from gray. It sucks all the light out of a room. These colors may have been chosen for how they look in bright daylight as well as low artificial light. But while we're looking at Carinthia, I have to say those chairs look a lot like my patio furniture. Or maybe that's part of the look of an aged care facility. Or maybe Lido furniture? All that metal is easy to wipe down with disinfectant.
  7. Theoretically, as long as they are selling the cruise, it could happen.
  8. Well, in our defense, we do have six cities named Paris and three named London. (I knew we had some, but google is my geography teacher.) If I lived in Arkansas (which has one of each), I'd need to clarify which one I meant. 😜
  9. Ah, so they're aware how little geography we learn in schools in the US. But they realize that people in the UK know how far apart London and Southampton are.
  10. You're probably right. Road Scholar had groups on the AQV Great Lakes ships, too.
  11. I really liked the Voyager and my cruise went off without a hitch. I was lucky in that respect. Those two ships had some big troubles last season, and I suspect he's going to have to put a lot of work into the mechanical side of things.
  12. Did anyone else receive this email? It hit my inbox this afternoon. It shows two lounges--Chart Room and Carinthia. Not much to see in the rendering of the Chart Room, but look closely at the rendering of Carinthia on the website and it looks like there will be outside seating. How lovely! Um, but Carinthia will be on the "promenade" deck. So how is that going to work? Or am I looking at the drawing incorrectly? Also highlighted is "Artisans' Foodhall." Pretentious much? It's the buffet. Or do I have to have some cred as an artist to be allowed to eat there???? Here's what it says: Artisans' Foodhall No matter when you feel peckish, this venue has something to offer, from sweet grab-and-go treats to more elaborate dishes created by chefs in front of your eyes. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks, dinner, late-night bites – this "something for everyone" dining option will not disappoint.
  13. And don't you love how anything that has to be printed at home is "for your convenience" as in "for your convenience, you can print this any time."
  14. The save the date card always makes me smile, but the luggage labels are more practical.
  15. Hi Eddie, Bit of a thread hijack here. I'm on QA in May and I'm thinking about volunteering to organize a meet and greet. Who was your contact at Cunard to set it up? To get back to the topic, I don't think you'll get Nordlys on a Caribbean cruise, unfortunately. I'm not sure I've done any of the usual popups, at least not on recent cruises. But the Alaska itineraries get something similar to Nordlys, and I will probably go to that one night on my Alaska cruise. I could have made a whole meal of the langoustines they serve as starters.
  16. It's still there. Something like 25 pages.
  17. If rebooting doesn't work, try a different browser. I have found that Chrome Incognito or Edge InPrivate work when the HAL site is being uncooperative.
  18. No. They will wait for their own tours unless conditions, such as tides, force them to leave. They're in contact with their vendors so they know what's going on with late tours. If you're on your own or an independent excursion, I guess you could try to contact the ship via HAL's emergency number or the port agent, but I don't know if it will do much good. It isn't just the schedule to get to the next port. It's also the dockworkers, the pilot, possibly tugs standing by if currents are tricky. Delaying all of that costs money.
  19. It wasn't on The Daily on my cruise in February, but I think it should be. It may have been on the Navigator app, but that doesn't always work off the ship.
  20. That itinerary has great scenery! There's less to do on a small ship, but this cruise is all about the ports and the views, so for us that didn't matter.
  21. Making ship's time visible is a good idea. Last fall I sailed to Norway from Southampton. While we were en route, we changed a time zone and at the same time, both UK and Norway went from summer time to standard time. Some people's devices changed and others didn't. Being on the ship's wifi and internet didn't seem to matter. One person's phone changed but her smartwatch didn't. As Bullwinkle says, we were all soooo confused!
  22. Ohhh, she was really something in her day. Sadly, I sailed on her about 6 years after you did. By then, NCL was running her on the cheap and she looked sad. But that lounge with the Neptune statues still ranks high with me for most beautiful room at sea.
  23. I think when CO was new, they said it was one step, not top of the meta category, but then it changed. When I did the CO upgrade for a cruise last year, my TA had never been asked to do this. She had something from HAL that said one step. Either HAL or someone at the agency hadn't updated their info. So she called, and I got the move from lowest to highest.
  24. The Nordlys popup on QV Northern Lights cruise was outstanding!
