Agreed.  My DH and I went right before Covid.  I had an inside cabin bought to go with my friend and she couldn’t go so he went.   I have to wonder if this is what turned him off to cruising.

I have 2 booked in the next few months and I am hoping they’ve spent this time well and refurbished these cabins.

ALL THAT in just one cabin?? Un-acceptable. Sorry.

    This does not surprise me,

as the LNG infrastructure and procedures are new to Carnival

    I once heard that Royal Caribbean's gas-turbine-vessels

have to crank up the engines at least an hour before anticipated departure time?

Don't know why -but it sure sounds impractical!

OMG, thanks for posting the photo, she's beautiful.

We sail again on her in April, can't wait.

This new look is sure dressing up the fleet

especially the older Fantasy Class! Look at Paradise, below!

    To be honest I'm surprised

that Carnival isn't making a bigger deal of this new look..

Maybe when most of the fleet is transformed.

I thought that St. Maarten opened back up?

I'm 'Liked' to their thing on Facebook - Port St. Maarten

and have been seeing large ships calling at the Port of Philipsburg

    for awhile now...

    but maybe they're being refused

over the other French side of the island, at Marigot?

I've just looked thru recent FB posts at Port St. Maarten

and see quite a bit of ship activity!
    Have a look at this!

The Engineering Control Room on the Vista looked much like a starship's bridge, with digital displays all around and a digital "plotting-table" -- a big touch-screen monitor set on a pedestal, which the engineering officer used to show us things like an underwater view of one of the azipods and a schematic of which hole does what on the famous Carnival whale-tale funnel.

That underwater view of the propulsion side of things

    has to be really handy!

Reminds me of the afternoon back in the 1980s

when I got called out suddenly....

I was the underwater photographer on the 2-man team

that went in the drink to check the props for possible vibration reasons.

    We found nothing of note,

and presented the photos to back up our finding.

Their vibration problem had to be something else, sorry,

but it wasn't her props. A bearing maybe?

  6. The problem arises

whether said ship has Covid cases on board -or not.

I don't think any island has a blanket refusal policy

because we small islands need your tourism dollar!
The problem is Covid, not the island, not the ship.

  7. For the last year or so -

and as Carnival ships emerge from scheduled dry docking

they are significantly transformed by the new livery!

Look what the snazzy dark-blue hull did

for the frumpy old Fantasy Class!

There are knowledgeable folks in here -CC- who follow dry dock schedules.

Such info should give us a fair idea

of which New Look Carnival Ships to expect next.

Anyone know where I can find that dry-docking schedule  info?

When I have done the Behind the Scenes tours no cameras or phones were allowed.  You were fortunate to have gotten these pictures.

It was not yer regular tour for paying passengers!

We had lunch on board after the tour, and that was it.

    Cost us nothing!

    Middle picture....

is inside one of the ship's absolutely frigid cold rooms!!

    - and that's tonight's lobster all ready to go, when you order.

It was an RCL gas-turbine vessel.

Carnival is not currently offering the Behind the Scenes tours

    - because of Covid.

    That would make sense

but if/when they do resume, it's always a very interesting experience.

    I was lucky to do

what was possibly a behind-the-scenes-PLUS tour

with a bunch of local hoteliers and the ship's Environmental Officer.

We saw and learned some amazing stuff!!

Cruise ships now go to extraordinary lengths to do the right thing

and keep the oceans as clean as possible.

Please ignore scare stories from the 1970s -it isn't like that, any more!

  10. Unfortunately, small island economies need that tourist dollar.
    Importation and management of Covid-19/20/21/22

is now just an operating expense!

We get 100+ new cases every day now

(since all the Xmas and New Year's parties)

but that will soon simmer down!

More and more of us are being vaccinated and boosted too!

    I've had all three...
