While Fincantieri has built most of Carnival's ships,
they only bought interest in the Progresso shipyard in October last year.
I seriously doubt that 1. Fincantieri has moved workers from Italy to Mexico already, and 2. that Mexico would allow much of that.
While there is a large shipyard there,
it is mostly for the offshore oil industry, and has no drydocking facility.
I had a look on Google Earth satellite-image views
and this large square area would seem to be it?
I think I see a slipway? (wouldn't fit Glory,anyway..)

The port has a HUGE ship repair yard.
Fincantieri has hundreds of qualified workers and machinery
to repair cruise ships there.
They have actually built many Carnival ships.
Looks like they are providing a little "factory service"
for the Glory docking equipment.
Very interesting!
Didn't know that: thanks for the edu. -

Which is 1.7% of the $289 million estimated just to keep her afloat.
Do taxpayers have that commitment?
She earned $3.3 million/year, so that is an 87 year return on investment.
Think she'll be there that long?
You portray an unsustainable future.
She won't be there that long..... -
Looking forward to when we might have
a modern-looking fleet of ships
with the very oldest of them.. Destiny/Sunshine!

I have been watching update videos from the scrap yards.
Fantasy - completely scrapped (for a while now)
Fascination - already started taking some off the bow
Inspiration - completely scrapped
Imagination - untouched, nothing scrapped at all
All the ships in aliaga have been scrapped expect Imagination. Nothing has been done to it except the scrape from hitting Fantasy in September 2020. Now when Sensation comes there will be 2 fantasy class ships that will both be scrapped at around the same time, but the arrivals were 1 1/2 years apart.
It's never a pretty sight............

Carnival's website malfunctions are legendary!
Seriously legendary.
They've been happening now -not for years but for decades.

Your lucky day, huh?
I woulda been ticked off
because I value (and keep/collect) my cruise cards!
Surely it was the attendant's responsibility
to have tickets available!
The attendant "fell down badly" - not you.
You suffered the consequences!

Lunch is provided on the island by the ship.
That is so cool! And at no extra charge! Wow!
Very nice of Carnival: thank you.

It was caused by strong winds. Nothing could be done.
A few hundred miles away, in Barbados
we had a seriously windy day, that same day, yesterday Monday
with a few significant gusts!
I'm guessing DR had that same hi-pressure area?
Given a narrow channel, and a big buncha wind
catching the side of a brick wall like Escape is,
and you will get blown sideways,
probably at a 5 degree list to leeward.

Just carry ALL certification paperwork that could possibly be useful!
Better to not need it and have it, than vice versa.
Bureaucracy needs to be drowned in paperwork... -

Who'da thunk it?!
I would not have thought
that rockin and a-rollin would be a factor on a river!

With the increasingly-weird state of the world over the last two years
I'm beginning to wonder if I've now done My Last Cruise Ever...
Will I ever cruise again??- 1
