Well, well! I never noticed that.I wonder what the color of the neck scarf signifies?:confused:Enquiring minds want to know! ===> I agree!
Now I notice scarfs in red gold/yellow and blue
and maybe even a black one?
I'm thinking you're right, in that it must signify something.
Does anyone know??

Yes, the lenses should still be useful on some of today's digital camera bodiesHere is my question for you camera buffs. He had a bunch of stuff that my Mom gave me when he died.
Some Nikon telephoto lenses, a nikon camera, a Leica camera, etc.
Where can I find out if this stuff is worth anything?
I need a honest answer that is why I haven't brought the stuff to a camera shop or ?
Of course, the camera are all film and not digital.
But, I would assume the lenses are still used, correct???
(even if some auto-functions don't work)
the film BODIES are close to useless, since no-one shoots film these days.
The Leica is probably a collectible(ship it to me first thing Monday morning, please)
but overall (apart from the Leica)
I wouldn't plan on building your new house out of what you get for the Nikon stuff ;)
if you can find someone to take it off your hands.
There's an awful lot of that 'vintage' stuff hanging around.

If you consult deck plans for your ship of choiceYou were lucky. The one time I took an obstructed view the whole tender was blocking my window.
My TA told me it would probably be like your cabin was
but it wasn't.
there are always cabins situated between the lifeboats
which should allow you a view like these nice shots posted above.
Makes sense to go thru the deck plans and make a list of the specific cabin numbers
so that when you talk to your TA you can ask for specific numbers.
It's worth a shot, and might just get you a cabin..
with interesting 'foreground interest' -if you're a photographer like me! ;)

Geeez...NO-body takes any pics at St.Thomas?
I don't believe you guys!!
Come on!
Where are those pics you've been hiding??
All the other threads like this are just full of your memorable shots..
and yet the St.Thomas thread is just dying!
What's up with that?
Can someone explain??

Tell him that wide-angles tend to get more memorable shots than teles.I didn't forget my good camera, my husband did! ;)He has a Cannon Rebel something. He loves getting good pictures
but with the case and all the lenses, he doesn't want to get it messed up or stolen.
If I had to walk with just one lens on my camera
it would be the Sigma super-wide zoom 10-20 mm. range

IF there's a bus that passes that way, it will most likely be infrequent (hourly at best).I mentioned to my wife that Orchid World sounded like a wonderful place to visit. ===> It is.The same travel guide indicated that buses on Barbados are frequent and inexpensive.
So, putting the two together...is there a bus we can take from the cruise terminal area that will get us to and from Orchid World.
Do you have any details or is there a website you can direct us to that will give us the scoop?
Inland-country routes are not as well serviced as the South and West coastal routes.
Orchid World is on Golden Ridge, so you want the route
that goes up Gun Hill, does Golden Ridge,
on its way out past Pool Pltn. to St. John's Church
- that's the one to take!
This is where you get off!
Barbados Transport Board has a website:
- that's the Gov't. run bus company so click on
http://www.transportboard.com/
and see what you can find.
better yet is..

February is a good time, Dry Season is on the wayI will be in Barbados Feb 10th. ===> Good time! What is the normal temp that time of year. ===> Days are 80-85. Nights are around 75.
Is it usually be hot enough to snorkel and do the beach?
so little or no rain, and the seas are swimmable temperatures
-nothing like the Great Lakes..:D
-
And when you get back, don't forget this thread ;)These pics are great, thanks for sharing. ===> You're very welcome! It is soooo hard seeing these pictures and knowing your cruise is still 15 mos away:(
Oh well, back to dreaming......
Please post your photos here! :)

Thanks for the great pictures!
Based on the ship layout, I think these are one forward of the cabin we are in. ===> Yes.
Did you do these with a fisheye lens? ===> Yes.
They almost look they are taken from outside the rail. ===> Yes.
Yes.

These pics from vantage points nearbyAnyone stayed in this cabin on Victory before? It is forward and looks like it is almost under the bridge wing.
I'm especially interested in what the view from the balcony looks like with the bridge overhead.
Any pics would be appreciated.
..on the other side of the ship from where your cabin number is

..this is getting close to the second stop.
This is on the Midtown water taxi pier itself
showing a bit of the water taxi at extreme right..

It's a setting
quite unlike the first stop at Bobby Marina..seen previously
.
-
No it's not: this is the first stop at Philipsburg. Is this where you get off for the beach?Stay on board the water taxi and get off at the next stop.
As you approach the second stop, the beach situation will be quite obvious.

If your cabin is indeed 7408My mom found a great deal on the Victory....I'll try to get pics our cabin is 7408.
I've never stayed in a cabin that was right under the bridge . Will we be happy with it.
you should have little problem with the bridge obstructing your view.
After consulting Victory deck plans at URL..
http://www.carnival4me.com/carnival-victory-empress-deck.htm
I notice that Cabin 7408 is on the Port side almost at the very stern end of the ship.
From where you'll be, any obstruction of your overall view by the bridge
will look like so...
except you'll be on the other side of the ship.

With regard to the recommended percentage a tip should be...
I'm old school: that's a clear-cut 10% --if I feel like tipping you.
I will not be racheted up to 15% suddenly -next thing you know it'll be 20%.
In case you're unaware of it, I already paid full price for the product? Remember?
A tip is extra -At my discretion -Not yours?
And here's my tip to you: guilt doesn't work -never did!
.
-
Work like you don't need the money
Dance like no one is watching
Sing like no one is listening
Love like you've never been hurt
- and live life every day as if it were your last..
.
-
Makes you sound like you're economically desperate, which you may well be! :cool:You shouldn't pressure people to tip or you most likely won't get anything. You're not going to get rich doing Tours
but no doubt that has become clear to you by now
Get a real job, with AIG or Goldman Sachs
where the real money is counted in billions, not in fives and singles. :D

Figure it out.I recently got off a SeaDream Yacht Club - we had great pillow gifts every night...including pajamas to take home with us!The price for a SeaDream is pricey to begin with but you don't pay for a thing. If you have the budget, give it a try.
You pre-paid for every single "free" thing you took -or didn't take.
Nothing is free.
You paid for it all -in full- before you even set foot on the ship! :)
It's all factored-in to the running cost of your cruise..whether you take it or use it -or not. ;)
.
-
There they are...mine and yours
Those are the "ONLY" tipping reminders?
You're pretty blatant, IMO. ===> Yes!
That would turn me off and I'd probably give you nothing.
I agree.
I come from a non-tipping society
and I give you two mentions allowed.
After the third mention I'm annoyed, sorry.

Frankly the whole tipping thing is a P.I.T.A.

Yes, it's hardly worth the effort, I reckon..I was considering calling to request one or the other, but as a result of your comments I think I will just wait and see what we get
and just enjoy the adventure!
Here are some shots from the aft Dining Room on Victory
from our Nov.08 cruise...

Maybe you'll post a pic for us to see?
The M8 is the new digital camera, costs about $5K new.
Maybe it's not an M-series at all -but a SLR ??
