1. The PHOTOS!!! I am so GLAD I bought the ones with my Dad, as he has since passed away.

I spend a lot in the photos. But I also don't really buy anything else.

I don't say anything about what my DH spends on drinks -and he doesn't say what I spend on photos.

Years later, you still have the photos. ;)

Ask him where his drinks are..:D

2.
The day we ate in the dining room for breakfast it took about 1/2 hr.
I'm sure it all depends on how many people are there too.

We had late dining and was in the Pacific (aft) dining room.
I don't know how they decide which dining room you will be in.
Dining Room doesn't open its doors for breakfast before 0730
so if you need to get going before that, Lido might be the best option.

if you have a cabin far forward like we did(6207,on the bow!)
it seems you get the midships Dining Room named Atlantic.
We did.

The cruise before, when we were in 6431(considerably aft) we got Pacific, at the stern of the ship.

I'm guessing it has to do with where your cabin is located.

3. well lets see if i can get this pic posting thing

2652962020103099988S200x200Q85.jpg[/img] <<===> That's the closing bit. Where's the rest!

having trouble posting .

I'm pasting the url link and it showing the red x any ideas.

I'm using webshots and the link they say to use to post in a forum.

any ideas?? i'm sure it's something simple i'm missing. ===> It always is!! :D

From what I can make out above

it seems you may have left out the first html command box..

..which was to be b]the bit

Does that make sense?

Although I don't, maybe you should try clicking the little Insert Image button

visible above where one composes the post-to-be.

Yellow thing, looks like mountains with a Sun at top right

- says Insert Image when you put the cursor on it...

4.
My daughter got hit by a jellyfish.
Geeez...that looks painful!

The stinging mechanisms in most invertebrate marine organisms
utilise a proteinic acid to do the actual stinging.
That's why it stings and burns. Acid!

So what we need is an anti-acid. Stupid as it sounds, meat tenderizer works very well.
Why meat tenderizer ? It's an anti-protein, isn't it..
- it breaks down the cell structure of the meat, rendering it softer

In the islands, we use green papaya as a local meat tenderizer
but you're not likely to have Green Pawpaw on you, I know.

A bit more 21st. Century would be to take anti-histamine tablets a.s.a.p.
a remedy we use for centipede bites, here on the island (that clever tip from my Doctor-dau.)
since stings activate histamines in the body.

Today's useless facts, but just in case you have these things along with you..

5. I keep all of mine in a drawer with some of my collectibles:rolleyes:
Think if you start organising them into an album, getting them side-by-side..

you'll start to see all sorts of little and big variations and changes to design!

Scan them and show us what you have!

6. I was given this early Carnival card just today!

How many of you remember cards like this from back in 1998 ?

Carnival-1998.jpg

Can't help but feel that this is some sort of special staff card

or travel agent card -not the normal issue.

.

7. how many degrees is it usually?

I won't hold you to it..lol.

What's the coolest it gets?

Average Summer mid-day/afternoon heat gets to around 90 degrees F.

A scorching day will get up to around 32 degrees Celsius(our official measurement scale)

= about 95!!

which is quite unbearable for a normally-breezy island

(it's the breeze that controls the heat - a 32-33 C. day happens rarely

on Summer Days of Doldrums, if you know what that is... little or no wind)

.....................

The coolest it gets -around Xms and New Years- is around 70 degrees F.

but the record is somewhere down around 65, I think

and yes we all remember that December? night in the '80s

At the time, I was living up on top the island at 930 ft. abv. sea-level

in a rather drafty old house.

Blankets, socks, the whole bit!

8. Don't know about Paradise, but pretty fantastic. But then I'm biased;

I got married under one of those palm trees just a couple of months ago :-)

Thanks for the photos, they are a lovely reminder.

Mands

How cool is THAT?! --- You guys got married at Bottom Bay!

Too much! Congrats.

Guess you guys won't forget that for awhile!!

Well done!

9. Thank you Aplmac for the help. Here is a sample of my collection!!!

KeysCarnival.jpg

Glad to help out: it's really easy once you get the hang of how it works! :)

..........................................

Those are wonderful old Carnival cards you're showing us, there!

Nice to see the variation visible in the overall-blue cards from the 07-08 period.

I'm discovering much minor variation, in between the (2 yrs. average) larger design changes Carnival makes to their cards.

I've also come to realize that small variations often escape a quick inspection

-until you get cards side-by-side and take a really close look.

E.g. the inclusion, size and position of the directional arrows varies considerably, I've found.

Thank you for showing us.

10. I am an avid Cruise ship room key collector.

I have about 225 different room keys and Casino Player cards from the ships and casino day boats.

I have some duplicates to trade for keys I need for my collection. If you are interested, please email me.

Since I just joined the Cruise Critic,

I do not know how to post pictures here yet so I would be able to send you scans to your email.

It is a GREAT Hobby and you get to meet a wonderful bunch of people with a common interest.

To post pictures....

you can either make direct attachments to your post by using the Manage Attachments button

further down the page where you compose your post..

-OR have a stash of pix already somewhere out on the intenet like I do

(at a Photobucket account --and/or on the CC Photo Gallery)

and then you simply link to those shots!

The former method(direct attachment to your post) results in rather small pics

but still gets 'the message' across.

The latter method(linking to P-bucket or the Photo Gallery)

results in considerably larger pics.

Hope this helps to get you started.

Perhaps you should go over to http://photobucket.com/

and sign up for a free account to get started?

11. To Dear Aplmac,

You made my day.I was so worried about the rain.

How hot does it usually get around the end of November?

I'm no temperature expert

but I'd say the daily high gets to no more than about 85 degrees Farenheit?

Like I said earlier, it starts to cool down by early November(most years)

and by Christmas, it's quite pleasant here! :)

.

12. How is the weather in November?

By November it's starting to cool down

the worst of the Rainy Season is behind us

the worst of the Hurricane Season is past

and it's coming into the nicest time of year, i.e. Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb

when temperatures and humidity on the island are tolerable

(You don't wanna be here in Aug/Sept.)

.

13. we keep them only b/c my wife keeps a scrapbook of our trips
At least they get kept. Some ppl throw them out!

I couldn't do that: for a week that card has been my ticket to ride

and it becomes almost a part of me -and my holiday.

.

14. The card with the silhouette of people on it

is what they were issuing to people under 21. ===> The Party Ppl - yes,I know...the kid upstairs in one!

The star holes tell staff about ages

or if they paid for the unlimited soft drink refills if i remember correctly. ===> Hmmmm..

Yes, i had to beg for the two blank cards :)

I'm going to try and get some more blanks when i go on the Monarch in a few weeks ===> Ask for one fer me, too? Please?

The kid upstairs...her Dad is a cruise-ship Captain

I got some cards from her, along with various 'interpretations'

RCCLkids1A.jpg

This card shows a Coca-Cola sticker which signifies the free soda thing

but you could be right too.

I asked her about the round holes...she said they are to indicate Under-Age status.

I was thinking maybe the star-holes signified something Casino-related?

or entertainment-related?

Who knows!

You might notice too..that your card..

RCCL-stars.jpg

already has a red Coco-Cola sticker on it..

............................................

Someone else gave me this card

RCCL-08A.jpg

with the two stickers you see -they couldn't remember what they were for

but probably for free soda or something like that?

15. That's quite a collection you have there...

I collect cards from cruises and day cruises!

There is a message board for card collectors.

They trade, buy, sell, and post scans of cards there. the site is www.slotcardbbs.com . ===> Thanks for that.

My main collectible is casino chips from cruises and day cruises though.

Here's just a few of my cards.... :)

img804.jpg

I find the RCCL cards above interesting..

..like the ones with the star-shaped holes punched in them...never saw that before!

And where did you get the blank cards?

- you pestered someone at the Purser's Desk for them, huh? :)

............................................

Just got this one just last night - it's an early Royal Caribbean card from 1995

I immediately noticed it was thinner and more flexible than today's card.

-with a magnetic strip on the back, and a strangely-rough hole in it

like a regular machine punch wasn't used?

RCCL-1995A.jpg

.

16. I try and keep mine. ===> Few people throw them out, I reckon!

the best way to keep them is in a business card holder.

I think they hold about 10 cards per sheet.

Thanks for the response

Yes, I learned the business card album thing awhile ago

when I was collecting Caribbean phone cards! :D
